Just like the Space Monkeys we will soon be getting Killmail- This is some of what I hope it will include
1. Load out of the suits you make kills on 2. Price of load out 3. The amount of damage you put on each kill - like EVE show others who also put on damage and how much 4. Efficiency = price of your kills/cost of your losses 5. Weapon(s) used 6. Salvaged gear? (not sure if we are actually salvaging gear from kills or it's random)
..... thoughts?

my thoughts? If I got killmail for every kill my email would be so stacked I'd never once look at it. For an FPS game - this idea has very very little merit.

CCP already seems out of touch with what an FPS sci fi is. I very much hope they don't go with this idea. With everything they should be working on - this is the absolutely the most worthless. |

They need a match Kill Report. Where when you open it allows you to see individual kills. But the report shows total ISK destroyed / other stats. Then you will only get one per match, much less spammy. |

SoTa PoP wrote:So you're actually asking is a way to snoop into peoples outfits so you can copy them? Yes. It is usual practice in EVE to use killmails to see what your enemy had equipped, the ISK value of their loss, and in many cases use bits of their fitting technique to improve your own.
These killmails allow Corps to compare losses to gains for themselves as well as their enemies. Pure body count means nothing. If your Corp kills 100 of my corpmates (who are wearing Militia gear worth 10K each) but loses 10 of yours (who are wearing Proto gear worth 150K each) then we are winning the war because you lost 1.5 million ISK to our 1 million. Bodes mean nothing when you're Immortal. ISK is god.
And when I said "They need to..." it's more of a "If they ever decide to implement a Killmail system it should probably be a per match Kill Report rather than a single entry per kill. For organization / lack of spam." |

Also, once corps start using standard fittings, figuring out better ways to kill them. Knowing better ways to kill one person out of how many? I'm sorry but I still don't completely follow the logic. It would be nice to know zitro fit and all - but it just seems like improper snooping with weak value.

Killmail serve the above purpose: they are for Corps what invoices are for accountants. A report of your losses / earnings.

Are you saying you want it to track wars between corps? Cause killmail seems a little weak for that - cause that is a system i could get behind. A war mail system.
Everytime your corp makes an action that effects you an in game letter is sent explaining it. Then as the war progress a progression letter is sent showing statistics to both sides.
Otherwise no lol |

Otherwise no lol Your ignoring the point, whether intentionally or no.
Leaderboards compare kills, deaths, WPs, etc... but not ISK.
EVE / DUST are about ISK. Everything is ISK. ISK is god. I am going to keep repeating this because it is the single biggest truth non EVE players (who want to survive in New Eden) need to learn. Killmail allows you to see how much ISK was lost / gained. If you don't care then ignore them. But for those who intend to run Corps and take control of parts of the Universe - they will eat up Killmail for all the juicy ISK statistics it has.
- How many Heavies did I lose? - How many Heavies did my opponent lose? - What weapons are fielded by my opponent (So I can disrupt their production and embargo him) - How many times has X died? - How much ISK has X player lost? - What is their ISK / death ratio?
Thats only a fraction of what is possible. Go look at an EVE Killboard. Just because you may not use it heavily does not mean it shouldn't exist. They are infinitely helpful.
You sound from other posts like you've already written off DUST. It is not just another cookie cutter FPS. It is different. So if you're looking for a general FPS then sorry. DUST is different. |

Ah - I don't know what you've read on me but you're very mistaken. I'm one of the few still left with faith that CCP can pull this off - I'm just becoming jaded after almost a year of this crap.
I know where you all are coming from with this kill mail system - and I'm sure CCP will add it in one day as corporations can properly declare war on eachother and take planets from one another. But until such things come to be this thread is pre-mature at best and serves little to no purpose for the casual player.
I guess my own comments were just aggrivated insults tbh - so I apologize. The idea has merit after reading through the links - but now is not the time.
This will be my last post on this thread - thanks for clearing up kill mail for me though - EvE just seems more and more wonderful each thread I jump into. |
