Last night ZionTCD focused contracts on Ikoskio (one of Gallente system with Caldari own planets) for our employer taking district after district. Once a number of contract were in place we signaled in employers FW Chat to add us in OB support. Since we had more then one contract in the same system our Capsuleers felt it was more justified to fight off the Caldari and glass a planet to add us against any challengers.
Once our Contracts were taken the Capsuleers staged a Hot Drop with a fleet of ship's on Caldari as we were Battling the Warriors on the ground. OB support was not online for the match due to the large battle raging in the system, but soon after that match we had support from then on as our employers managed to secure the area giving the Destroyers time to set up and execute in the battles. Most unknowing the impact their battles were having on the Capsuleers fighting for them in space at that moment.
We ended the night by knocking down Ikoskio from -%50 to -%36 in favor of Gallente.
Our payment was 500,000,000 to do so. This is to our EVE Corp and is stored until Capsuleer and Merc transfers are allowed
The fights will rage on today and this was the most fun I have had in DUST 514 so far. Playing the game as its ment to be
1-12-13
We started the day out with a community wide siege of Ikoskio to test and liberate the planet SOV for Gallente. From the heaven's I sat cloaked looking down upon the very planet we were fighting over. In Local I could see CCP Explorer was in the system but never saw his ship in sight. the OB fleet came in as well as Cadari Militia and battle ensued with Gallente forcing them out of system as the Mercs on the ground continued to battle amongst themselves.
At the end of it all in a matter of 20 minutes Ikoskio started at -24.8% and Ended at -14.6%. The onslaught of Dust mercs worked better then I imagined. Well Done.
Shortly after I received a message on Skype:
Soter 1/12/13 2:39 PM hey dude, any chance you can focus on okagaiken? every % point you can get us there will be critical. System is at 99.8%
1/12/13 2:40 PM Our fleets are trying to hold the system.
ZionShad 1/12/13 2:39 PM On it
Soter 1/12/13 2:40 PM Thank you
Though we continue to fight for Ikoskio for our employers we are now tasked to take districts in haste were it means the most for the Capsuleers. Will see what tomorrow brings |

On the 15th our Capsuleers joined in Gallente FW just when an alliance by the name Ev0ke began to aid Caldari in their efforts to retake system and end the Gallente rule over all 101 systems. Our first night started out great with a Small fleet of 7 that went into a system and aided L.O.T.I.S in a Corp battle against SyN. Though we provided OB Support and Fought off some Caldari trying to link to the district to give aid to SyN, Lotis was not able to take the district on the ground. But still was a great battle all around.
Even with the new threat of Ev0ke joining still won't be enough for Cadari in the long run due to the Ace up the sleave of Gallente in the form of Dust Mercs. Will continue to fight as long as we are payed
On the other side I have started to make efforts in gaining interest on the Minmatar and Amarr FW in hopes they will hire Dust Mercs as well. Will see what this venture will bring. Story link

That sounds great. How can we join? I'd surely like to try out other game modes. Is it similar to skirmish or a new type where we actually have to move forward from front line of the battle to the actual objective |

It's just through the Corporate Contract system. The contracts that we use for corp battles effect the district they are fought on now (whether you know it or not). If you take a contact and are waiting on an opponent, then you are the attacker and you are the one who will gain the district for the race you took the contract for. If someone chooses to fight you then they are the defenders and they will simply stop you from taking that district if they win.
We struck an agreement with a FW Alliance to take these districts for them and in return they are paying our EVE corporation. We have not joined Gallente FW as of yet, but in DUST 514 we are not restricted to any race so we may effect any aspect of FW we wish with the only consequence happening to the EVE Capsuleer's. All the ISK is being stored until transfers between Capsuleer and Merc are allowed. |

Ok that's great. So its the CORP contracts with actual effect... That's nice. If we don't have an EVE CORP would we get paid ? since the ISK transfer is not active yet. |

You would be paid only what the contract pays. If you want to arrange additional payment with factions, they can give you money but it will only appear in the Eve corporation wallets - which means you won't have access to the money until they allow Dusters to have access to the Eve wallets. Basically, unless you have a character with roles in Eve, you can accept payment and you will have to trust that they paid you until you have access. |

This payment is all player driven at the moment due to no mechanics are in effect in the game. You would need to be a part of a DUST player corp (Hopefully one with EVE ties or at lest access) |

I would like it if every single battle in Dust514 ends up taking part of this. I don't even know if that's the plan or not and if so, how long do we have to wait until it's implemented but it seems to me that only having this for Corp Battles means that the change in Faction Warfare is obviously minimal and slow compared to what it could be if it took in account all public battles players are fighting in Dust 514.
Now, don't ask me about technicalities but if there are thousands of planets in EVE, whenever a battle in Dust514 starts, even if not a Corp Battle, it could be attributed a planet and district. This would mean that instead of EVE players having to know beforehand where a battle would be and at what time it would start, there would be battles in a lot of places and there would be a good chance that they could just peruse over planets and districts to find all these battles going on. Or of course if players on the ground have contacts with pilots, see if they can get there quickly.
Then, i'd like if it the game would make us aware that there was a pilot in orbit. When at EVE side the player has to connect to a district, i'd like if the lady that usually warns us about objectives getting hacked and whatnot would say something like "Battleship in orbit ready for support" or along those lines. I've seen that these players can talk with the ground troops mid-battle in the corp battles so the same would happen in public matches. If this was a match with complete randoms, they'd be somewhat surprised but given the chat/voice functions, the unexpected EVE pilot could present himself and offer help. Or pilots, of course.
Now, we on the ground are mercenaries. In my view, we'll fight for anyone if we get our share of ISK. Despite what race you had chosen for your own character, in any given battle you could be fighting for any of the races. But i think that to make it interesting we should keep the EVE pilots still only able to help their own faction, with a little twist.
So, a battle would've started on a given planet and it pitted Gallente vs Caldari. You would be fighting for Gallent and a nearby Caldari pilot would find this battle and connect to the district. I think they'd need to change something but i'd like to make it an option for pilots to connect to either side of the battle. However, this could be disrupted by a Gallente pilot coming in and connecting to the Gallente side. That would forcefully disconnect the Caldari pilot although he could connect with his own afterwards.
This could give way for some curious pairings. We could get two Caldari pilots in orbit both connected to the Caldari side giving double support. You could have two Caldari pilots, one offering support to his side and the other connected to the Gallente side. You could have a Caldari pilot connected to the Gallente side and a Gallente pilot connected to the Caldari side. Or you could have a pilot of each faction connected to their own side.
This could bring about what some EVE players are wishing for, a way to toy with us. With some tweaks, it should be quite interesting. For instance, you could still choose the Warbarge Strike if you didn't want to trust the pilot connected. It could mean that people would start to recognise pilot's names and who they aligned with or how trusted they were. In order to stop EVE pilots from going berserk cheating everyone, it could limit them. It could be that when a pilot tricked the ground troops and bombed them instead of the enemy, one of two things would happen: either he'd disconnected after that first rogue orbital strike and would have to connect to his proper side if he wanted to continue in that battle or after his first rogue strike, when another squad leader would access the Off Map Support, his strikes would be flagged as dangerous.
Then we'd have to decide how would this rogue strike work. Maybe when a pilot is connected to the other side and a squad leader requests a strike the pilot has the possibility to rain down on the location of the strike caller instead of the targetted location or raind down on the targetted location but on friendlies or alternatively the spy pilot would be able to give this rogue strike to the other team. To avoid the problem of which squad would have access to it, every squad leader would get a notice saying rogue strike available and the first to pick it from the Off Map Support would pick the target and the enemy team would see their own strike rain down on them.
There would be many ways to use this and a lot of this could be dependent of what conditions you were fighting on. For example, in hisec EVE pilots wouldn't be able to connect to the enemy side's disctrict.
I don't know what are CCP plans, all i know is that Dust514 is going to evolve, and that it has much still to be done but stuff like this would sound exciting to me. |
