In my opinion, Factional Warfare should be Dust's "Group Queue"
Signing up
Corporations in Dust should sign up for a militia and fight anyone in FW space, as long as they are on the same side they signed up for. An example, Gallente and Minmatar Militias would be able to fight for each others contracts same for Amarr and Caldari.
Squads and Queuing
Squads of these corporations would be able to see contracts in FW in the battle finder and be able to join into these battles and fight with less "bluedots" and would let a more risky game mode and give reason to use better gear. Single Players can still join FW and queue same as other Militia members although doing so without a squad increases chances of loses with it being primarily for groups to do something other then grind ISK in pub matches all day
Secondary Grind?
Giving us LP would allow us to have a secondary grind to not worry about SP so much and then we can do LP store and get more items we could really use till a market is added in for us to make ISK off of LP. LP gains from a battle could be 5x of your WP earnings and would allow you to trade LP for something you want to use or sell. Like LP in EVE already.
Main point for this is to take away from the fact SP grind is slow and shouldn't be a players only reason to play the game.
Contracts
Contracts need to be expanded to where corps can choose the location from the Star Map with the current FW status in the systems and they could see how much of a difference the battle is making to help flip systems. FW collateral should be about what the players are willing to RISK in that battle and with more people taking it serious and able to do something people will want to pull their better gear to help out for the win.
Contract could be accepted by any corp and set to allow for corp / alliance or militia members to see it in Merc Tab of the Battle Finder.
Winning / Losing
Winning and Losing has to be clear, losers can't be paid (as much) for losing in a Low Sec contract as to keep people from sitting back and not helping with the battle, Giving losers nothing makes people not want to do the contracts, so LP and lower ISK depending on WPs of the player earned in battle should be compensation enough to allow losers to get a little piece to allow for players to take part no matter the outcome of the fight.
=======================================================
Remember this is only for Factional Warfare, and I think it could increase FW activity for Corps in Dust 514 and would give rewards great enough to RISK the better gear other then people "risking" it in a pub match to get ISK win or lose.
Rough idea really, just started last night thinking about it and today typing it up.
If I'm missing something or you think something doesn't seem right or If i should explain it better please post and let me know and I'll be able to get back to you later |

1. there should never be a requirement to sign up for a milita to fight for one
2. you have to have a role to see/accept corp battles this should never change. more visability for corp members is good idea
3. CCP has indicated there will be an LP system for dust but wont speak of it just that its been talked about.
4. I think there is suppose to be changes to contracts come future builds once eve players can put contracts up. Also there is lots of room for 3rd party services as whatever contract system will be general. either way needs major improvement.
5. the winning/losing needs to be kept basic in contracts and rewards for corp battles in FW or nullsec. This gives way to 3rd party services and meta game play. dust is now part of eve sand box and that needs to be kept in mind when when talking about contract and results. especially since eve pilots needs to risk the same or more then dust mercs when taking/defending planets because they will reap greater rewards.
its good ideas and it shows how far FW contract/battles need to come to be what they need to be |

Only capsuleers should be forced to sign up with a militia. DUST 514 infantry are all classed as mercs, so they can fight FW as long as they get paid for it. Now, I haven't logged into either New Eden game yet, so IDK if FW actually has better rewards or not. LP - I would love to see faction DUST gear. Just imagine a Sagaris with the Cal-Navy Raven's camo, and you will too.
The system of DUST facwar, from what I've read: >Districts in a contested system affect the victory point cost to take over the system. Capture the districts in DUST to make EVE takeover that much faster >In low-security systems, DUST squad-leaders can call in an Orbital Bombardment. On the EVE side, doing this requires small turrets fitted with Tactical ammo - and different guns have different effects. >No knowledge of whether Skyfire batteries are active at this time. Again, haven't logged in yet today. |

100% agreed. When you fight in factional warfare it should be for a side and having more influence should give you benefits, just like the eve players get. So there is a reason to fight.

Nothing is stopping you from just fighting for 1 faction but there is no need to enforce 1 faction only on the rest of the player population. I hope you can understand this as I fully respect your desire to support just 1 faction. I prefer to fight when I want for who I want. These are not mutually exclusive things. |

People asking for enforcing faction on Dust514 players need to think more about Eve.
Eve has TONS more things to do. LOTS of options for the players.
Players CAN choose a faction OR they can just go and be pirates OR go be carebears in hisec.
There are also BENEFITS to choosing a faction in Eve. In Dust514 there are none and it will be some time before there are.
Also, probably one of the reasons that Dust514 mercs are not factioned is that there are some serious imbalances in the current Faction Warfare. In Eve people tend to go pick the winning side. In Dust514 there can be some balance to this.
Caldari can simply pay us MORE than Gallente to get our help. As the Gallente win, our help would be naturally less valuable to them while more valuable to Caldari.
If you enforce faction choices on Dust514 mercs you would simply increase the current FW imbalances.
Let's see how it develops. |

I like the general concept of the OP. I have a further modification I'd like to suggest so as to maintain the choice factor among Mercs with regards to Faction Warfare.
Apply the general idea of the OP as is with a couple of simple modifications.
- Mercs can see contracts and participate without a factional affiliation. Such Mercs would see, and could sign up for, all contracts from any of the four factions.
- Mercs who do not chose a factional militia to sign up for do not earn Loyalty Points with participating in FW battles. Those who do have an affiliation earn LP as normal (perhaps with a slightly greater rate of gain for contracts from their own militia than from the allied militia).
This maintains the ability of Mercs to choose, it allows from "highest bidder" free agents among Dust Mercs and it also opens up rewards for selecting and adhering to an affiliation.
Thus there are pros and cons to both options and it is up to the individual Corp/player to weigh those options and choose accordingly.
Cheers, Cross
ps ~ such a system would require some mechanic to allow for players/Corps to change affiliation if required/desired. such a mechanic would likely require at minimum a cool down timer and likely a secondary span where in Mercs must earn status by taking contracts for a given side before they're able to sign on with the militia for that faction. In point of fact even the present system could in theory benefit from such a mechanic (if there were any mechanical rewards for faction affiliation at this point).

It would be easy to have it so regular mercs could play like regular, and some could choose to join a side and get Loyalty points used for the same purpose as in EVE. The ability to buy gear from that faction with LP +ISK.
Some want to choose a side, and some dont. This would give something to both sides. |
