My main account is infantry merc, but I would also like to train for vehicles. Should I make a separate account for a pure vehicle character, or just wait till I get all most important skills for my infantry and then train for vehicles on the same account? |

Vehicles are weird. I have three characters, this one is Assault/Heavy, my first is Logi/Sniper and my third is pilot. The SP is really tough to get for piloting. There is a couple million needed so it will take a lot of Wednesdays to fill it. There is no initial SP build for a pilot and I have no idea what is the best to start with. You need something because you will spend most of your SP earning time not driving, anything. Except free LAVs maybe.
The good news is you are going to lose some HAVs and DSs. Use the militia (look for HAV setup just posted recently) and learn how to drive/fly. I don't actually recommend flying although that is what I would prefer to do, having been a private pilot lo these many years ago.
First pick one vehicle and drive towards that goal (pun!). If it is shield based focus on shields. If armor, then focus on shield and armor later. Pick one type of turret to max out first.
Look for the Drop Ship Manual in the Training Ground forum. Great read, including most of the comments.
DSs got Kittened to Kitten and Gone. Seriously. Pilots get little WP and the ships are paper. How that translates to SP I have no idea. Considering I can play for hours and see one DS the entire time I would say it was too much.
Edit Hav starting fittings, is the post. It has some good information.
Skihids has some good ideas. He is currently running HAV and is the author of the Drop Ship piece as well. Searching for his posts would be worthwhile. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=450627#post450627
Also, maybe change the title to this post. Starting a new character, want to be a pilot. Better said in your own words of course. |

You can create a second character on the same account and specialize with a different set of skills. You can purchase a passive booster for the new character so he is training at 1.5 times while idol. |

Do both mercs train at the same time?
I know in eve its one or the other so thats why there are people with several accounts, not just several pilots on one account. |

Only one character in a account can have the passive SP activated. |
