even if the PS4 can handle more players doesn;t mean most game companies will add them because everyone expects the next best graphics.. the PS2 could handle 64 players on a modded starwars battlefront server- that was PS2 and now with Ps3 most games have not even gone past 24 so its not garunteed the Ps4 will do things nay different they have alot of FX and cutscenes to dish out to slack jawed morons who think 4 vs 4 is online gaming
a big map would be cool but the 5 point maps are already pretty boring as it is, a huge map without the player count would just be a long hunt, my favorite map is the asia game show because it looks like actual warfare with everyone so close together theres no where to hide you are forced to fight immediately after spawning
tho i would like to see persistent maps say you own the planet and then you can free roam the map, like a Red Dead Redemption type free roam where they combined PvE and PvP. i dont want to free roam all the time but i hope we can sometimes if we choose to. it does get boring in RDR but it is a nice change from playing matches all night, a lot of the PvP is 1 vs 1 but there is also group PvP |

mmofps genre's best chance is from independent developers, it's not a popular genre. It's a risk for a game company to make true MMOFPS's because like Icy said sacrifices have to be made. One of the best MMOFPS's I've played on PC is World War II Online by Cornered Rat another very good independent company.
The graphics on that are like 2005ish but there is really no limit to the player count tho it's usually in the lower hundreds. combined infantry, armor, air, and naval it's considered more of a war simulator which is what dust kinda was a build or two ago. the flight model is basically a microsoft flight sim. but there's a lot of downtime in between big battles in that game, which here dust sounds like might be handling those times well with hi sec matches or w/e else hopefully, because like someone said there probably won't be a constant epic null battle to join |
