If you ever zoomed out all the way you would see a very large area of place you cant go. All these maps we play on can support hundreds of players at least and there are even roads that stretch across and connect every corner of the map. what we play on is a fraction of what is really there.
what do you all speculate? |

Quill Killian wrote:All of this talk about MAG had me curious as to how many folks stil play that game, so I popped in my copy and ... well, wow, talk about some good memories with my clan and MAG.
MAG's current playerbase is *nothing* compared to its heyday, but, from what I can tell, there' usually 600 to 800 players on during North American "primetime" play hours during the work week, and perhaps a few more on weekends.
I sure hope Dust 514 lives up to and surpasses what MAG accomplished.

As a pilot I can`t wait (I`ll be an ALL AROUND pilot in full game), it will also be more usefull to use Drop Uplinks, as you should always do, spam them in some distances apart. would look cool to make a convoy of vehicles aswell like we saw in the video.
Could you imagine corp battles like this, it would actully look like an army. |

LXicon wrote:the map in the fanfest keynote video is pretty big : http://dust514.com/media/videos/dust-514-keynote-2012/ (skip to 14:45) i think a large objective based map would work. it keeps the action concentrated at the objectives. it can be made where once one team has taken and held stuff at the first objective, the "active" objective moves further along the map. that way, the action can move across the whole map over the course of the game.
Thats how the old skirmish used to be. But even back then we used about 10% of the entire map.
There is just all that space and i cant help but to think thier is a purpose to it. |

All I have heard about player count per map is 48(24v24) the map would become too large to be any fun. Only a little better than BF3 on ps3.
Only would want this if we could have 96+ players per map. There have been rumors (and I seem to recall a Dev mentioning this as well) that the eventual goal is 256v256, so the scale of the map is not nearly so bad as you think, if this is true.
I've heard some rumors too but I'm not sure if it was that many people at once. |

DJINN leukoplast wrote:The maps definitely need to be much bigger, as the line between heavies, logis, assaults and snipers is far too thin ATM. The bigger the maps, the more each class will have a very specific role rather than an all-in-one package.
Also as somebody else brought up, if the maps were larger then a dropship would make sense and be useful for transporting people over great distances quickly.
Not to mention the fighter-jet thing we are going to get eventually (there was a video from a long time ago where CCP was demonstrating it). Something like that would be pretty lame on the tiny maps we currently play on.
What I think would be neat was if say 3 or 4 of the maps we play on now were actually all on a large map, in which any player can move between them to grab/hold objective points either by means of dropships or LAVs. And redlining a team would mean that each area had been fully taken over.
Ye know. I thought I saw another map when I zoomed out in the spawn screen ( I think I saw line harvest while at skim juction or something) I couldn't go there but it didn't look too far.
But alas this was in the last build. |

speaking of vehicles and fighter jets did anyone pick up what was said in the video. Ye know, about the 10 vehicle platforms and that 8 will be out around launch.
I just need a little help on exactly what a vehicle platform is. is it like each type of vehicle like LAV, HAV Drorpships or is it like the sub categories like black ops HAV, marauder HAV, the logistics LAV, logistics HAV |

Firestorm Zulu wrote:Big maps are coming I would think. This game needs both big maps and big player counts to be anywhere near unique.
Well not really it needs a sense of adventure or conquest to it. Something that makes you feel like your actually taking over the universe.
Ye know. |
