I would like to say I'm an optimist but unfortunately. Have not seen enough improvement in this game in over 9 months of beta testing to think anything will ever make the game look like what they have advertised. Just seems like more hype from another of the usual game companies. I give this game a 5% chance of improvement and success at this point |

All you have to do is just watch Planetside 2 videos on youtube to get that immersion and wow factor that you never feel in Dust playing it.
No wow factor? There is PLENTY of wow factor for me personally. Planetside 2, as awesome as it is, is a MUCH watered down version of DUST 514. PS2 may have a higher level of wow sheen at the moment, but hows that amalgamation of the PC/console going? :) No one has done what CCP is doing, for that reason I dare say they have slightly more on their plate than the PS2 team did during development. It must be nice just having to make sure your game looks and plays nice. :D The wow factor in DUST 514 is that battles mean something. PS2 has you warring over one planet? DUST will have 7,500 of them to fight over. There are 100 skills in the beta alone and we know there are going to be more skills added at launch I see wow in the complete flexibility CCP has afforded through the dropsuit and module system. PS2 has...7 defined classes? WOW? lol :) Comparing a released game and a game still in closed beta is an unbalanced comparison though really.:) How could I not love a free to play MMO RPG FPS on PS3 that supports Move and M&K, as well as custom soundtrack and is getting a Vita app. The Chromosome build completely revolutionised my DUST experience too. I have never had so much fun playing as I do in this build. The controls are awesome and the game looks way better than it did at E3. I am VERY happy with where the game is at now and can't wait to watch the rest of it unfold. :D In nothing you just said had anything to do with a battlefield that fears me the most about this beta, the battlefield experience is boring and really grey and bland. You can scream skills till your blue in the face but I dont care about that as a non RPG player. I have played games for over 2 years after I hit the max level because they were fun not because I had to collect all the skills. There is really no reason to care about a conquered planet if only 8 vs 8 did it. As to my other corp mate I really hope so I really do , but at the moment without an Eve account it just feels like a black hole to me of money Agreed, I could play a game with skills that take only one week to cap but if it Gave me huge planetary battlefields with realistic combat and clan warfare I would play for years. I'd probably spend $60 a month to keep buying uniforms for my clan. Instead we get spreadsheet on battlefield with **** poor FPS mechanics and no wow factor |

I can understand the disappointment of someone who isn't an RPG fan, especially in the beta phase. Everyone is running around with different builds, trying things out etc. There is no coordination (generally) and this is especially true for squad formations and tactics...this also contributes to a less than enthused perception of the game I guess. I am an RPG fan, so the DUST proposition is amazing in my eyes. I'm also a future thinker and can catch glimpses of the big picture even if it's later down the line. I like what I see when I cast my eyes to the game's potential. I can't wait to see the corporation king fu in the months and years to come. I want to see carefully composed squad set ups and tactics and well executed objective handling. As far as the battlefield now...I see things like a dropship fly past an objective and drop off a squad who all inertia damp to the ground, or I see an orbital strike wipe out a group and I get a mercgasm. :D I am a logi and really enjoy my role on the battlefield which I guess helps. But back to my main point, I think the wow factor will reach more people when they start seeing more coordination and skill on the battlefield...or maybe the game just isn't for you. :)
To summarize this guy ^. "I want to mine rocks!" Get out of our fps |

Im waiting for the open beta to finally get this game fixed , its not in till PS3 players actually play this game that it will be fixed to perfection past the Eve 2.0
I agree, it's obvious we have a lot of eve people in here right now who are trying to focus on other parts of the game and tend not to worry about the actual FPS part. My question to you, do you have confidence that once this goes public that significant changes will still happen? I'm not very optimistic at this point.
P.S. For all the people still saying that what we have is excellent for a free beta, remember thy some people payed 30 dollars for a merc pack (buying the game) and also have been dumping cash into aurum. If I was one of those people I would be pretty irate about the current state of this game |

If I was one of those people I would be pretty irate about the current state of this game I don't know man , I think this game would do a lot better if it re classified itself from a MMOFPS to a action RPG. To me if just feels like a game that never wanted to be in the FPS genre or have its player base. I don't think there are many FPS players in this beta anymore from lack of FPS discussion in development of Dust. Even the controls don't fit the PS3 and Sony will not be happy with that once it goes open. Right now its ok cause were in closed beta, but sony is not going to let a keyboard embarrass its controller on a exclusive.
Good point about the keyboard. Speaking of controls, I wonder why they decided to copy halo vehicle controls instead of more realistic vehicle controls.
I just watched those two 2009 videos again and have to say it looked like CCP knew what they were doing, has the unreal engine really dumbed this game down this much? I sincerely hope that they are trying to cope with server problems at this stage in the beta. It worries me though that they tweak seemingly unimportant things instead of addressing the much larger concerns.
This forum is going to light up with console player discontent when it goes public. |

I'd trade the graphics of now for those if we got the maps and smooth play of those demos. What your playing at the moment is a sci fi esc bf3 conquest game only with out the polish I think your all in for a shock when the final player count is sorted , it wont be nearly as large as we were all lead to believe
Eve players trying to make this game an eve expansion instead of its own game. Every time I see a thread about mtacs, secondary market, more modules, more skills, it makes me even more dissapointed. CCP needs to get some real feedback in these forums. The long winded posts by the eve players who type their posts with a thesoraurus so they appear smart is bogging down the real feedback this game needs. |

Yup, and when these eve players start flooding the market with isk it will make for a very lopsided game. It will become a game of those who have and those that don't, and those that don't will be very frustrated. Trouble is most can't see that the reason for eve interaction is to get dust players to play eve to support there dust account thus the free to play game becomes a pay monthly sub game.. Those demos are far superior to what we have now, makes you think
I bet they had a funding problem. Switching engines has caused so many delays and poor feature implementation that all funding now comes from AUR and merc packs. Minimal eve money probably goes into this game ever since they started losing the player base in their own game so they had to divert resources back into their cash cow. Jita riots in 2010 probably screwed dust development to about 5 chinese guys in shanghai trying to make a "ground breaking game" all by themselves

Ya I'm probably too negative at times but I feel like its called for because I have to compete with "great job ccp! Keep up the great work , best game evaaaaar!" We need reality here, not dillusion. The fact I still participate in these forums shows that I still have hope for this game but my patience is running thin since I've been participating since April |

I'm impressed with dice patches and notes. Dust gives you a little over one page and dice would give you a novel |

Back in the pre fanfest build, wang mentioned not even half the memory was being used. I'd be curious to hear how much more capacity this game has for gameplay and visual improvements. A hard number would be nice |

If I was optimistic I would say ccp decided the unreal engine was enough for the limited lifespan of the ps3 and they will use carbon on the ps4. |

Wiki said refract engine, but i think as others have said either Dice or ex Dice had a hand in Dust. Personally i think they grabbed the bf2 coding and added upon it for some solid ground for the connections. They have a couple of ex dice (bf ) people on board for this game, pity they didn't give them the lead in development at least the game may have a real direction to head for then. Vehicles mat even be ballanced and handle better then As for the PS4 the specs and hardware that is being toted about various web dosn't fill me with much optimism either especially the AMD graphics card that is already out classed I would be content if the ps4s hardware could make dust look like a frostbite 2 game with a high player count and all the bells, whistles, and gimmicks dust has to offer (plus excellent FPS mechanics) |
