Its just there is no wow factor in Dust in my opinion . The only ones that get really excited about Dust own Eve accounts and looking for new ways to improve their Eve accounts through Dust. All the potential that is talked about is not a great battlefield , but crafting ,mining, and selling things on a marketplace. I wont be surprised if the planet conquering system is just the corp battles of 8 vs 8 players.
All you have to do is just watch Planetside 2 videos on youtube to get that immersion and wow factor that you never feel in Dust playing it.

No wow factor? There is PLENTY of wow factor for me personally. Planetside 2, as awesome as it is, is a MUCH watered down version of DUST 514. PS2 may have a higher level of wow sheen at the moment, but hows that amalgamation of the PC/console going? :) No one has done what CCP is doing, for that reason I dare say they have slightly more on their plate than the PS2 team did during development. It must be nice just having to make sure your game looks and plays nice. :D The wow factor in DUST 514 is that battles mean something. PS2 has you warring over one planet? DUST will have 7,500 of them to fight over. There are 100 skills in the beta alone and we know there are going to be more skills added at launch I see wow in the complete flexibility CCP has afforded through the dropsuit and module system. PS2 has...7 defined classes? WOW? lol :) Comparing a released game and a game still in closed beta is an unbalanced comparison though really.:) How could I not love a free to play MMO RPG FPS on PS3 that supports Move and M&K, as well as custom soundtrack and is getting a Vita app. The Chromosome build completely revolutionised my DUST experience too. I have never had so much fun playing as I do in this build. The controls are awesome and the game looks way better than it did at E3. I am VERY happy with where the game is at now and can't wait to watch the rest of it unfold. :D
In nothing you just said had anything to do with a battlefield that fears me the most about this beta, the battlefield experience is boring and really grey and bland. You can scream skills till your blue in the face but I dont care about that as a non RPG player. I have played games for over 2 years after I hit the max level because they were fun not because I had to collect all the skills. There is really no reason to care about a conquered planet if only 8 vs 8 did it.
As to my other corp mate I really hope so I really do , but at the moment without an Eve account it just feels like a black hole to me of money |

This is the only way I can explain this beta right now without getting the "insert" dust defenses. You see a brand new car it has leather seats, sun roof, GPS video car radio, killer speakers, temp controlled AC
but has no wheels or engine. |

Its just a different beta , but same result. For BF3 it was the coding on the floor and for Dust its FPS mechanics. Both companies are trying to get the most bang for there buck with updates. For CCP its adding new skills and weapons but having no clue how to implement them into a FPS game.
Im waiting for the open beta to finally get this game fixed , its not in till PS3 players actually play this game that it will be fixed to perfection past the Eve 2.0 |

Im waiting for the open beta to finally get this game fixed , its not in till PS3 players actually play this game that it will be fixed to perfection past the Eve 2.0 I agree, it's obvious we have a lot of eve people in here right now who are trying to focus on other parts of the game and tend not to worry about the actual FPS part. My question to you, do you have confidence that once this goes public that significant changes will still happen? I'm not very optimistic at this point. P.S. For all the people still saying that what we have is excellent for a free beta, remember thy some people payed 30 dollars for a merc pack (buying the game) and also have been dumping cash into aurum. If I was one of those people I would be pretty irate about the current state of this game
I don't know man , I think this game would do a lot better if it re classified itself from a MMOFPS to a action RPG. To me if just feels like a game that never wanted to be in the FPS genre or have its player base. I don't think there are many FPS players in this beta anymore from lack of FPS discussion in development of Dust. Even the controls don't fit the PS3 and Sony will not be happy with that once it goes open. Right now its ok cause were in closed beta, but sony is not going to let a keyboard embarrass its controller on a exclusive. |

I loved that trailer with the dropship landing and that trailer alone made me want to play Dust. For some reason they abandon everything about that trailer.
One on the main concepts was we don't care about Eve, that was a great concept for getting a new player base that didn't like MMORPG`s, but somehow that message just got smashed to pieces. Your a good guy Zulu , its refreshing not to have to go on full defensive of every word you say . |

THE GREY CARDINAL wrote:I'm often surprised by people's bloated feelings of entitlement...or maybe it's disappointment because CCPs timing/strategy/efforts don't agree with their expectations. No one forced anyone to spend AUR here, and this investment in no way puts an obligation on CCP to magically release some update that will make this game the Medal of Duty: Modern Warfighter Ops 3 some people seemingly want it to become. That investment will be refunded at launch so no one has lost anything. Also, CCP are an MMO developer with no real FPS experience, it's to be expected that the road will be bumpy.
I'm glad I can be patient and realistic...it makes my DUST 514 experience all the better. Love Chromosome, love my logi and my mass driver. Can't wait to see what early 2013 brings, I have a feeling its going to be explosive ;). Keep it up CCP! :P
Wow you know one FPS game ha ha, No one blames CCP for its inexperience. Its the fact that it does nothing to correct that.
When im sick i go to a doctor When my car breaks down i go to a mechanic When i need legal advice i talk to a lawyer So when making a console MMOFPS you should talk to console FPS player, not loading in MMORPG PC players that CCP seemed to have done. Of course the beta is so way off course from a FPS game |

I enjoyed the BF3 beta last year i believe, even with the same map. You could see the potential and the ability to play with all the weapons and test them.If it had more than 24 players and didn't lie about frostbite player cap. I would of bought it that year the controls were amazing. Though I will say the sniper problem in metro really turned me off and Dust has the same problem |

Just so that everyone knows, and for the record, I hate EA and everything they stand for. That is all. You don't have to like them , but you are playing their handy work every day. Bf2 2005 just modded. Oh how's the second eve is great like farm thread going. |

ill be honest i dont know coding but i swear it all feels the same as bf2. Wiki said refract engine, but i think as others have said either Dice or ex Dice had a hand in Dust. Personally i think they grabbed the bf2 coding and added upon it for some solid ground for the connections. |

thats total bs, the only reason i would agree with you on that is because this beta has always felt like an add on to eve and not its own game. The reason why we dont have 80 players is so most eve players can feel good about their shiny new modules. it takes a lot of processing power to process different gear that all looks the same but different stats to each gek or blindfire. this beta is lagging way to much as it for as low as the player count is now.
mmorpg`s get away with things like that because FPS require a lot more information to between player tracking. |

for starter EA lied about the player cap completely so even the pc could do 128 player but they said it could only handle 64.
two BF3 had little players because the bad company croud basically ruined the game that had only 24 players.
it was trying to compete with COD with a 2 year old engine and with the deathmatch type approach
Bf3 wanted trees falling down , the water to look real, walls to blow up, and glass to shatter all these things aren't in dust either that would explain the lag.
its also because COD got so large and halo did that the games basically lost their roots and tried to copy. i have used this before but if a game 8 years older than dust can run 64 and 128 players. Mag ran more players in its low count mode. |

mag always had 64 players at least in the same map in the same area and then you could move to the other side if you wanted . the PS3 can do a lot its just you can make a jack of all trades game that dust wants to be and thats what were seeing. you have to pick a direction and go for it .
this is how all development goes oh were just not used to the coding yet, then it always heads to oh the system is 2 old. Right now this should be the PS3 golden year of games because it knows the code so well . give this beta to modders and i promise you wonderful things could happen in 1 month |
