So I'm a little hesitant to start this keeping in mind the fact I'm talking about CCP's plans - which are far above the hands of mere mortals like myself. However lately I've been going over the videos from the 2009 EVE Online fanfest, and I can't help but think that everything felt a lot more updated back then than it does now. The scale of their maps and the like for one thing, but the vehicles and general fluidity of the gameplay as well. Other things I can understand, like being inside the war barge and all the fancy stuff that doesn't really have to be reviewed by beta testers. Still can't help but wonder though.
What do you think? CCP holding back because they think they need to focus on only the things they've given us, they've totally scrapped previous ideas, they didn't like them and decided to work on them some more? What?
Just trying to wrap my head around it now, because I have this sense of doom that CCP might have changed the entire thing, and I honestly loved everything in the 2009 DUST demo.

There has obviously been many changes been made since the 2009 demo, examples lining up such as the nanite injector and ability to carry a swarm launcher (at this time only a rocket launcher) and assault rifle together. CCP has changed it to focus more on armour and shields, eliminating the need for the nanite injector until death occurs (I can't be certain, but I believe the lore surrounding the nanite injector is supposed to effect your body, whilst giving you a little bit of armour so you don't instantaneously die). However, other things, such as the Fighter Jets, interior of buildings, and so forth are things that most definitely will be put in the game, and yet aren't here for the moment. A pilotable MCC that can deploy installations is also a must, though I think we can all understand the reasons why CCP hasn't been able to implement it for the moment.
Many have said that CCP has changed it's engine since that time, so thank-you for that piece of information, I didn't know that before. Let's hope they can acclimatise to the new one quickly, eh?
What do you think they should keep from the 2009 demo to move into the current game? Personally, I think there are so many things in the demo that would just make me not play anything else but DUST. Anyone see the water, and the bridges going over it? It's up to standards with the trailer that everyone was saying would be awesome if they manage to implement that far. However, there are other things - like the noob tube and ability to put swarm launchers alongside an AR that I agree with CCP needs to be worked over - at least to a moderate degree.
Again, thanks for all the replies guys!! |
