Lets be honest here, dropships are next to useless against any type of ground units if you don't have the right equipment you cant stay alive. Solution, give them more health. I cant name the number of times I get shot down with a ship load of players just because one forge gun shot takes me down. Dropships are meant to get infantry in and out of hotzones and as such should be rugged enough to take some significant damage. Since you guys nerfed the splash damage on the missile launcher there is barely a reason to use it against infantry (increase the splash damage radius and up the damage a bit so that we can actually use the thing ton fend off attackers, if you use the blaster if your moving its next to impossible to hit people with it (possibly up the damage it can do against infantry). And the height of the map cap should be raised (I know you dont want people being on top of towers blowing people to dust (hehe) but dropships are so limited in what good they can do, partially because they get destroyed so easily. And lastly my final gripe. The physics the physics THE PHYSICS. So inconsistent it is gut bustingly funny. For example, hover 10 feet of the ground full shield and armor and just go straight to the ground, you will blow up, yet if you hover 50 feet off the ground and do the same thing, nothing happens at all. Same for bumping into walls or objects, if you even think about bumping into mountain a tiny bit trying to hover close to a comrade to pick him up, he will be laughing at you because you got blown up. Ok rant is over, hopefully someone sees this and knows that dropships are not very useful as they are, and I am not saying make them how they used to be, but it would be better if thats how they were for now. |

I agree so long as dropships remain impractical as gunships, seen a team mate use the DS very effectively as a transport hotdropping troops over objectives, i would love to see this happen more often in pubbie games and it could happen if the DS had more resilience. |

The reason it doesn't happen in public games is because blueberries can't comprehend that dropships are trying to transport you to key areas.

I disagree. Dropships should be able to be fitted as gunships, so long as they aren't overpowered and are less effective at other tasks while augmented as a gunship. |

I've seen a dropship used as a gunboat; very effectively actually(though only because people were foolish enough to continuously spawn @ a CRA and thus were essentially "camped"). Anyways, I think they have reasonable hp: its already ~2/3 a default tank hp( dropships cannot be stronger then tanks, that would be ridiculous).
That aside, the physics are terrible. I noticed as well the dropship will not explode until it strikes the ground, effectively allowing you to jump out if it is shot down. |

How about if you just barely bump any thing even a small rock just hovering over the ground you will lose all of your armor and shields. This is a big problem that needs to be addressed. |

Ok how about this: Buffall vehicles armor and shields, or give them more slots & CPU/PG? |

Modules, Shield Extenders, Armor Hardeners, Armor Repair Units, Skill Books.
There are plenty of ways to extend and add Shield and Armor points to your dropsuits.
No need to buff suits, we already can do it in game.

Why the hell do you people expect your equipment to be good with s**t fittings and low levels on skills?
The vehicles are fine the way they are save the targetting issues e.g. a heavy missile launcher can't damage infanty unless its a direct hit? That bit is BS, but the shields/armour are fine if you have the right skills.
Furthermore, why do you think dropships are suppost to have good armour/shield tanks? they're not! Drop ships have maneuverability unlike any other vehicle. Fit an afterburner to it and learn how to use a speed tank! |

The only issue dropships actually have are forge guns.
Swarm launchers don't cause much damage at all if the dropship maintains some speed. Tank and stationary railguns have serious issues tracking a dropship that's not static. Pretty much all other weapons beside the forge are ineffective against dropships. But the forge gun deals some 1000 dps and tracks dropships rather easily. My own anti-air fit is a heavy with a forge gun, so I actually tried it out on several occasions.
I'm not asking for the forge guns to be nerfed at all. It's balanced well against tanks. But something needs to be done about the fact that forgeguns snipe dropships out of the sky half way across the map. |

forge gun shot takes time to travel. Try hitting a drop ship that can use a prop mod properly. |

I agree, proximity speech or team comms need to be used in situations like that. One properly fit FG can tackle a DS no problem. I have not seen many of them in action lately. |

Crappy controls, stupid low flight ceiling, and insane collision damage. Add in 100m range weapons and you have a recipe for useless, even if they could take a dozen forge gun rounds (they only take 3 with a complex buffer fit). |

I agree and I like and use dropships. I wouldreally like to see them become more useful and earn points. I can fly my ship around for a whole battle evading shots but they're still useless! They need to contribute to the battle more then theydo now. |

1)Collision damage
Nearly all of my Dropship deaths are from hitting a pebble on the ground, or coming straight down onto the landing gear to pick someone up. I am always moving very slowly, and trying to set down as carefully as possible. Yet 1/2 the time I still turn into a ball of flame for no good reason.
2) Flight Ceiling
Reducing the flight ceiling as a way to stop tower camping is flat out laziness. Not a decent solution. That's like removing WP from repair guns to stop the abuse.
Other than those two things I think Dropships are great. I love the flight physics. I don't want anyone to jump into a dropship and fly it. Also, it doesn't need to be a gunship because their are many other air vehicles are on their way. It's a dropship, not gunship. |

We shouldn't be forced to play purely Speed Fits you scrubs, a Dropship is meant to be able to pick up troops in hotzones and deploy them into much needed areas. Sure, you can play as a Speed fit but I don't want to just fly across the map launching my corp through the air randomly, I want to be able to hear a squad running all Officer Gear requesting pickup before they're overrun by shitloads more enemies and I actually want to be able to survive a blast from a Forge Gun when I try to save their asses.
As I've said before, time and time again, we need more variants for all vehicles, there is no single correct play style, and there shouldn't be, so let us have slow variants that are very heavily armored, light variants that can move faster, **** like that would be very helpful. As it stands two forge gun shots will take my Myron out (Maxed out skills btw, before you QQ hard and try to argue I mustn't have the skills), I'm not talking Militia or Standard, I'm talking about Adv+ taking out my Myron with all proto **** equipped in two shots. I'm not suited to speed but tankiness, give me the option to do that at a cost of my speed.
I mean, I don't play as a Pilot just to use Dropships as throwaway vehicles, that shouldn't be the case and if CCP has intended for this to be the case, the price needs to be severely reduced. |
