So you might have picked up from the patch notes that Orbital Strikes using an EVE ship are now enabled for testing on SiSi. We are after players who are willing to be the first people outside of CCP to give it a go. There are a few requirements to setup:
- Only available for faction warfare corporation battles. - The EVE capauleer must be a member of a faction warfare militia (either the NPC corps or as a member of a player corp in the militia). - Each corporation battle takes place on a particular planet at a particular district, the EVE capsuleer will need to be in orbit above that location. - The EVE capsuleer connects to the district by clicking on it while the battle is underway. - Once you have earned enough warpoints for a normal warbarge strike AND there is a connected EVE capsuleer, a new option will appear in the off map support menu in DUST. - Call in the request for a strike as normal, the target will appear in EVE. - The EVE pilot can fire at the target provided they have a ship with small turrets and one of the tactical ammo variants (Tactical EMP S, Tactical Hybrid S, Tactical Laser S).
The ammo variants do different spreads / ranges / types of damage which we are interested in getting feedback on.
Details for connecting to Singularity with an EVE client are here:
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Singularity
Also keep in mind we do plan on opening this up to more battles, in particular we have some big plans for corporation battles in 2013 which will offer more opportunities for orbital strikes.
If you have any questions, just reply here and we can help you out.
Cheers-

I'll organise to get some ammo seeded. The blueprints should be there which you can build it from.
You can get some EVE friends to help but I'd ask if you can keep it off the forums and blogs etc. Its a weird feature with the NDA because its in both games, so lets keep it under wraps for now. |

I will be using my eve character to test this, if you want some orbital support for your corp please send a mail to Logix42
First i need to clear up some details though. does the eve player need to be part of the corp calling in support? if not, how will an eve player be able to tell which team is calling in the support? can the eve player provide orbital support for both teams in the same battle? |

Tactical Hybrid S:
This highly specialized space to ground ammunition can penetrate the atmosphere of planets. It is only useful against ground targets and relies on special targeting data provided by ground troops.
The Hybrid strike has a radius double that of the tactical laser. This enables it to bombard more ground but combined with a slower fire interval than the laser there is a greater chance for targets to escape.
Tactical Laser S:
This highly specialized space to ground ammunition can penetrate the atmosphere of planets. It is only useful against ground targets and relies on special targeting data provided by ground troops.
The laser strike deals high damage in a tight radius at high speed. The tactical laser is devastating but its precise nature means it does not cover wide areas.
Tactical EMP S:
This highly specialized space to ground ammunition can penetrate the atmosphere of planets. It is only useful against ground targets and relies on special targeting data provided by ground troops.
The Electro Magnetic strike has the broadest radius of all small orbital strikes and wipes out the shields of anything unfortunate enough to come in to contact with it. For a team fitted primarily with armor this can provide a significant combat advantage in the heat of battle. |

If you have a neutral eve pilot on sisi, quick easy and at then end you'll have more than enough standing to join a faction's FW Militia.
If your neutral eve pilot is already part of the eve corp, have all the eve pilots in that corp run missions for that faction you wish to join. |

Just had a game where we farmed warpoints like crazy, with two eve guys in orbit with small guns + bombardment ammo, but no joy. Both capsuleers were in our dust corp, but the only off map support I ever got was the warbarge strike. One guy saw a faint hexagon on the planet (but never clicked on it), and the other never saw anything special on the planet at all.
Would we have to enlist Subdreddit Gold in a faction militia? |

Would we have to enlist Subdreddit Gold in a faction militia? Yes, Nullarbor's post and the current lack of success in almost everyone who's tried would suggest that. I'm going to test this theory myself. |

do we have to accept a contract that alligns with our militia in order to do it or once a pod pilot has joined a militia can they fire in any system? |

Another question, during a corp battle, if both sides have EVE capsuleers in orbit over the disputed district... it means that those EVE capsuleers are going to engage in battle as well? |

Hmmm, Having a corp enlisted in a milita is kinda silly because as a corp we can fight any battles that are up but we can only provide orbital support against the factions we're allied against?
Does that not go against the whole merc ethos of Dust? |

Well, it's limited to FW only for now, to keep it manageable in testing. In the end we'll get it everywhere. |
