12-12-2012.
There aren't 21 months in a year. Where CCP are based, Date/Month/Year is the standard format. Same as most of the rest of Europe... and most of the rest of the non-US civilised world. |

BTW, USA uses the same time stamp as well.
Arguably just about every number system in the world dictates proper clock date stamp should be 12:21:2012. In order of ascending units.
By law however someone screwed it up so that the half decimal and half number from various forms of people getting confused. thus you have descend then ascend. or fraction of a month that's then followed by the year.
Either way if one must write a date that shall confuse none its
21 December 2012
A standard amongst the US military, internet, business, and many places around the world because nobody can ever get that confused.
As for New Eden its
21:12:114 YC
New Eden operates on a old calander the amarrians found and since they where officially in space they stora shoved a lot of standards out. Including the measurement system.
The Yulai Convention is 114 years old, it brought relative peace to the galaxy and paves the way for capsuleers to exist.
Also this format allows a much longer time stamp behold!
50:19:21:12:114
most unfoutunate this is a non pleasant format to comphend. |

You claimed that I was saying the exact reverse of what I actually said. 3. The standard for the majority of non-US countries is to list the shortest time period first in a date. Day, month, year. Like I said, and not like you said. 4. The system where you work with month/day/year is NEWER, MORE NEEDLESSLY COMPLICATED, and LESS WIDELY ACCEPTED AND USED than the system you're claiming everyone uses when the majority don't. 5. Other than mentioning that writing the month as a word is a common "workaround" for people's confusion, there wasn't much in your post that was both accurate and relevant to the discussion of real-world date-stamps.
Nice to hear how EVE does it though. Thanks for that. |

I still question the use of AM and PM.
BTW that's only in space for new eden planets have their local calanders still.
Also I have been to other countries where the commoners would use that horrendous date stamp. |

Why does a simple thread have to always turn into a 'lets bash the next person for saying something a different way' ? Goes to show the mentality of some people. The world is a big place, different countries do things in different ways, say things in different ways. We don't bash the uk/Europe for pronouncing 'schedule' SHEDULE do we? I mean, you don't say 'shool' do you? No! Its 'SCHOOL'. Accept the fact that not everyone is the same. |

My original comment was based on the location of the developer, not saying the person's date format was objectively wrong, merely inappropriate for the current scenario.
The argument came up when Saber decided to "correct" me by pointing out that I'd said the exact opposite of what I actually said.
Sorry to have been a part of it though. Back on-topic, apocalypse survivor suits would be awesome. |

It doesnt help when quoted you to having 12-12-12 though Mr garret. so it made it difficult to which slot you referred to as a month. |

You also quoted the bit where I explicitly said "Date/Month/Year" which should have cleared it up. |

I just wish we could change the date and time format for the forums. Getting tired of trying to make heads of tails of it and constantly going to a GMT calculator to figure out what the heck times things were posted.
It's bad enough the date format is so screwy (compared to what I am used to) but the icing on the cake is the GMT time, which also is in 24 hour format. |

In some circles it is common to use high-to-low: yyyy-mm-dd HH:MM This allows for sorting things alphabetically
As for a "I survived a given day in the calendar" item, then I suspect that CCP will hook us up with some token gear for being in the beta - should suffice. |

Actually the standard for the US Military would be 2012-12-21 you will find it this way on military paychecks... orders.. hand receipts... numerous other things..
Unclassified documents can have a hand written date format such as 21st dec 2012 but only if you put at least 3 letters for the month.
