Downloaded the update for an hour, had twenty minutes left to go (70%) then, got a download error message and my playstation demanded that I shut it off. Twenty minutes left can you imagine my frustration? How annoying.
I'm trying it again now. :(((((((((((((((((((((((( |

this happen every new build sometime deleting and re-downloading the client solves it and sometimes you need to wait until the servers are less busy.
If the above didn't work then try rebuilding your PS3 database and system files: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVOJny2FdRM |

First attempt said not enough disk space. Then cleared some space now it puts up a bank screen and then resets the PS3. |

I had my PS3 repeatedly resetting itself several times.
It said it was updating to "version 4.00" and some other people have said their (working) downloads showed a different version number.
Maybe they're putting out the wrong update version (of an incomplete build... not the best look) in some regions?
Anyone with issues should probably check this info, give CCP as much as possible to work with.
I'm in NZ (most content is downloaded via EU or AU servers, with some coming via other regional servers at times, in case that helps), on a slim PS3 that's about 5 months old.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I've given up on trying to update, and deleted the DUST files. Re-downloading the client and starting from as close to nothing as possible. |

So my delete and re-download from my download list in the PS Store seems to have fixed the problem. I'm now at the character select screen with new and pretty music. |

Same here. V4 update found, signed out and console reset. Tried 5 times already with no luck.
Deleted client and downloading again. I've noticed that PSN Store needed update so I would suggest getting update first as it could be a source of our issues. |

I've come across with the same issue early this afternoon and deleting and reinstalling the client from your 'download list' fix the issue; but this, based in my own experience.

It's not ideal, though, because downloading an update SHOULD be less data than re-downloading the entire client, and I live in a country with pretty restrictive monthly data caps on anything resembling a decent broadband connection. |

I've just had an update fail as well. It downloaded 100% (90 minutes) then started installing; part way into the installation it died with the message: "An error occurred during the install operation. (80029564)" |

Well, my ps3 doesn't reset itself. My modem resets itself though around 60% into the update download. It does the same even after I deleted the client and save file then redownloaded it. It's weird because I can download anything else so I don't think that it's my ps3, isp nor any setting that I have in place.
any thoughts? I've tried everything even setting my PC on a static IP addy. |

i did not have to redownload Dust and it updated to Version 3.03 ...? is there a version 4? maybe i should just delete the client then. people are saying the game looks better now... it looks the same to me. others are saying its smoother now... and i cannot say the same...

I have this same issue.
From the start:
Fired up DUST 514 and is says that there is a system update 4.?? and it needs to be d/l and installed before. Prompt was press X to download. Did that and DUST patch d/l started.
Waited the d/l and when it was finished the installing new pach began. At about 13% mark it geve the same error message than quoted person above got.
Now I'm back to PS3 menu and the DUST icon says it's corrupted.
I have tried deleting and re-downloading / installing but that hasent helped.
Now I'm on my way to completely reverting PS3 to facktory settings and going from there, since DUST is about only thing on this thing. |

fingers crossed @35% now and last time it went hellbent on 13-18% mark
edit: installation went 100% and no errors. Firing up thre game now.
So I had done complete system reset to factory settings.
edit#2:
Alls fine.
Don't know if that reset that I did is the solution or if it was something else with the download data and has been fixed. |

I switched the cable router (a Virgin Media SuperHub) into modem mode with the PS3 plugged directly into it and the download worked first time. This was after four failed attempts in router mode. |

The playstation support link talks about this, but wasn't very clear about the need to switch combined modem/routers into modem-only mode. Most people don't automatically distinguish between "router" and "modem" when both are in the same box they got from their ISP, so you'll get lots of "but it is plugged directly into the modem!"
There was no need to rebuild the database on the PS3 for me.
What would be really useful is if the PSN download function did an MD5 hash check on the files or something so it could tell you quite explicitly that the downloaded file is corrupt. Download managers on the PC have been doing this stuff for years. Even better would be downloading in multiple blocks with a hash check on each block and automatic retries (like bittorrent does).
