Tzaar Bomba wrote:Armor has a resistance value of its own to begin with. Dont know the exact number but im guessing around 10 percent because a corp mate shot his proto forge gun at me and i only had 8k armor. He hit me three times to get me down to 1k and some change. That would be why the armor is nerfed.
To forges, that same shot would do more to shield tanks. Vice versa for swarms. |

OP, I don't see what your problem is with this. More plating for armor equals more mass. More mass means more weight. More weight means slower speed. What doesn't make sense here? |

The butthurt on these forums (especially for a beta) is so much better than that on the Eve forums.

I have tried Soma fits with nano fibres. With torque boosters. With afterburner mods. Fun as this has been, even these are rubbish at turning, and are pure fail fit for survival. Plates already make a significant difference. Slow, but tough.
The only area I could understand a need to increase this would be stacking multiple plates. Something I have not tested. |

There's already a speed penalty for plates, hence the wording of the change. What doesn't make sense is that armor tanks are already at a disadvantage to shields and this furthers the difference |

I have a question. I'm not a tank pilot nor do I ever imagine myself speccing into them but I would like to know, on what are you guys are basing your assumptions on about how a tank should perform in regards to speed, agility and hardiness on the battlefield?
I see comments related to EVE about shields and armour, but they are spaceships in zero gravity and thus whole different kettle of fish. Have you guys had experience of tanks in other games and if so which ones?
I'm not trolling here but I have always thought of tanks as rather slow, cumbersome vehicles built to withstand a large amount of damage but are not impossible to be destroyed by other tanks/Explosives/Heavy weaponry. I guess what I am really getting at is, what do you REALLY want? An armour plated Ferrari that can traverse the battlefield so fast that it can out run almost any assault on it unless cornered? Or would you prefer a slow moving fortress that can take a pounding?
Personally idc either way but i am trying to understand where you guys are coming from. |

Currently we have none of that tbh
We have slow moving tanks which cannot take a pounding for more than 10seconds
We can make them faster but they are even weaker as a consequence but even then even if they are faster turning spped doesnt change and neither does the agility
Shield faster acc than armor and tbh acc>top speed atm because when you stop you need to be able to gtfo quickly and slow acc really screws you over |
