Unless dropships got a nice buff to CPU / PG, this could very well be the final nail in the coffin, and there's been quite a few nails already >_< |

I'm sure CCP just wants more data on forges and all the way players would use it.
But that said - it better get taken out for open beta. Not liking the idea anyone who just joined the game can 1 shot my suit that costs me well over 400,000 ISK |

I really think that there should be a militia variant of all weapons. The militia gear is mostly good for trying different fittings before investing lots of SP and ISK on something you don't like.
I bought into heavy suit and forge gun training to try it out and found that I didn't enjoy playing that class or using that gun, so a ton of energy wasted. Fine for beta testing, but would be a bummer for regular gamers.
Also a standard forge gun is what 17k? So a militia version will probably sell for over over 8k. I think we will see a surge of people trying them out and then only a small increase in players using them regularly or skilling into them proper. |

Make a new toon, experiment with the 500,000 SP you're given, decide what you like and don't. Then delete, rinse and repeat.

I'm definately going to try them out now that I can do so without investing any SP. Given the Heavy BPO the only expense will be the gun itself. It may be CCP's way to encourage its use.
Of course it gives cheap sticks to people with which to take whacks at dropship shaped pintas, not that there are many to be found at this point. It would require a dramatic increase in HP (either native or via increased PG/CPU) to counter balance all those new sticks, and they are currently too fragile as it is. |
