Hello,
So i saw this game in the store and immediately thought i have to get it. Anyway so i have bought the goodies so i could get access to the beta client and am just a bit overwhelmed at the moment.
I am currently working a enforcer build but will likely want to create other builds down the road.
I guess my first question would be should i bring out my move controller is it worth using?
Next I would ask what are some general things i should focus on building up for my character to get the most out of them and enjoy them?
Edit- It seems like i was thrown into a corp according the my corp chat channel. Is there any way for me to leave the corporation, am i able to just play the game freelance a little until i get some of my bearings or am i stuck in this corp until i apply and am accepted elsewhere? I didn't request to join or anything i well just ended up in a corp.
Thank You. |

Also I forgot to assign items to my character like the shotgun, smg or well the dropsuit is for a scout so i wouldnt want to assign that, but is there any way for me to go back and select those things if i haven't assigned them yet?
Thank You.
Quit game to get another chance to assign. Pay close attention to the buttons to assign too. Once assigned to one character you won't get another chance until they wipe so make sure you pick the right guy and keep him. |

1) the move controller depends on your playstyle 2) try seeing what you're good at. Start off with things like whether you're offensive or defensive. Build up your skills; I recommend mechanics and some sensor skills as well as whatever weapon you're going to use. Also figure out your playstyle: Do you aim or spray? You like long or short range? etc 3) You can search corps, we're recruiting btw :D Anyways, if you got any questions, feel free to look me up. My PSN is Spartan1550. Just include something about dust in the message. You can also message me in game. I'm free to help this weekend (got stuff to do till Friday :|). Otherwise, feel free to ask and join our corp if you want.
Edit: Also, to get the best out of the game, turn on voice chat through the options and turn push to talk off if you got a mic. It makes things a lot more fun. |

if you havent spent the initial SP
get
weaponry upto 4 (prefer 5)
chosen weapon upto 4
start working on mechanics to 4
get dropsuit to type 2
from there do what you want.
I suggest you get out of the milita dropsuit ASAP - to type 2. I also like carrying AV grenades level 2 packed are good to get rid of the free LAVs
and it seems like you have arum so buy the bpo shield recharge or extender depending on whether your a scout (recharger) or not. get the cpu upgrade and the armour repairer, and nanhoive and nanite injector (both these last 2 give you WP when used by teamates; and whatever else/ weapons you want.
people have posted about the move control not being great at the moment but try and see I guess.

Prepare to die... a lot. Death means nothing in this game as you are an immortal mercenary who has died thousands of times already. |

Stay in free suits or cheap suits to start so you can figure out your playstyle without spending a lot of ISK Get your support skills up, they will apply no matter which build you go with, some examples include
- Weaponry
- Mechanics
- Shields (there are three related skills)
- Sensors (several related skills)
- Engineering
- Electronics
- Hacking (not everyone's style but if you capture ojectives et al often it's well worth it)
- Mobility (there are three associated skills)
- "Light" or "Heavy" weapon skills (a whole set of each, applies to all weapons within that type)
Also if you want to try a weapon without spending skill points on something you may not like create an alt, skill into the weapon and play a few games until you get a feel for the weapon. Delete alt and invest skill points on your main as desired.
If you have any other questions feel free to post them here or look me up in game I'd be happy to help. :)
Cheers, Cross

Cross, I'm creating an alt character. I've been playing for a couple of weeks, but was looking to create a heavy. Any suggestions on what skills to train first? I was thinking training my shields and then dropsuit. Let me know your thoughts. |

I've only played Heavy as an AV forge gun, but I run Logi quite a bit so I play in squads with Heavys a fair amount (long winded way of saying mileage may vary).
Here's my overall thoughts.
Choose your primary tank (armor or shields) and max the associated defensive skills (or take them at least to 4, that last level is expensive so can be put off for a time at the start). The support skills from my post above are still valuable but there are some you can skip for awhile with no real loss, these are sensors, hacking, and mobility.
Max weaponry and start improving your general heavy weapon skills. Invest in Electronics & Engineering as needed for your fits but focus primarily on your weapon skills.
Higher meta suits are expensive both in ISK and SP, you'll want to get them but make sure you can run the guns and defensive mods first (vague guideline would be keep your guns and mods at least 1 Meta Level higher than your suit until they're proto then finish out the suit levels).
As a Heavy level up both HMG and Forge Gun. Make a fitting for both and deploy accordingly (HMG for infantry, Forge for AV). This is a costly method skill point wise and will slow down your build progression somewhat but will give you the adaptability needed to avoid frustrating (and expensive) losses when the composition of the opposing force turns against you.
If you have a squad run with a Logi, if not Logi ask someone to carry a Repair Tool or at least a Nanoinjector. As a cost saving tip (all the more important if you don't have a squad to support you as per above) make sure you have a cheap fit on hand even when you've "outgrown" it for those matches where things are really going badly, and don't be afraid to revert to a non-heavy free fit if your team is being redlined hard. Developing successfully as a Heavy has a somewhat sharper progression curve so don't get discouraged if you're first while is a bit rough, the rewards for your investments start to pay of much more handsomely once you're further along the development curve with your SP/gear.
Summation Train your dropsuit and fitting skills on an "as needed" basis and focus on defense and weapons. If you're going shields make sure to develop all of the associated skills (you'll see positive results) and use your fitting to further enhance shields (there are three kinds of fittings which improve shields on a dropsuit). Level your weapon skills general > specific (with specific more "as needed") and expect to see the true impact of the Heavy once you're passed the mid-point of progression on skills/gear.
Hope that's of use to you :)
Cheers, Cross
