So I had been thinking about the new micro jump drives being added to eve, and thought maybe a version for dust might be fun.
The Personal Teleportation System is a personal scale micro jump drive adaptation that teleports you forward after spooling up. Watch out though, the charge up process on the PTS creates a loud audio signature, you have to stand still, and should you take a single hit during the charging process, the jump field will become destabilized and disintegrate your clone. The PTS, being an adaptation of starship technology, understandably requires large amounts of power and stabilizing the wormhole for even these short distances requires a large amount of processing power. Furthermore, the design of the PTS requires sizable amounts of fuel, meaning that a merc can only carry enough for a single jump. Fortunately, fuel can be replenished by nano-hives.
Personal Teleportation System Slot__________Equipment Charge Time___5s/4.5s/4s (Basic/Advanced/Prototype) Distance______Approximately half unmodified AR range for basic Ammo________1 PG/CPU_______(somewhat more than the pg/cpu of the drop uplink) Note__________If damaged while charging, user is disintegrated with no hope of revival, loud charging, teleport noise at destination, line of sight req., no movement while charging
Usage:
Switch from your weapon to the equipment, and aim at the ground where you want to teleport to, or aim beyond the maximum range to teleport to the full range. A graphical representation will show you your new position after teleportation depending on where you aim. Once you start charging, you cannot move, nor even look around. You can end the charging process at any time, however the charge takes a moment to wind down, during which damage will still disintegrate you. Once you teleport, you will find yourself at your destination facing the same direction as when you began charging, however the teleport process will create audible noise at your destination, so trying to teleport directly behind your enemy is ineffective. You should keep in mind that if you charge while you can see them, if they look in your direction they may very well see you, and immediate disintegration will follow, so shotgun teleports into the enemies face are rather risky (as they should be). Safe uses for this device would be teleporting across open areas such as roads from cover to cover without being seen, or teleporting across gaps when there aren't any enemies about. You could also put it on a logi to teleport to your team mates.
This device could be a lot of fun, and quite importantly, it would be another thing to make Dust different. |

i was thinking of something like this but instead of 1 u bridge between 2 devices
lets say the nearest CRU is 300 meters away and ur holding the front line and have one on u u can throw it down but its inactive but shows on the map untill someone spawns at the CRU with another and throws that down the 2 link up automatically creating a short range teleport only 1set of teleports can be active at a time can be picked up and moved if no free equipment slotthen it has to be carried meaning u cannot use a weapon u would need to be defended be corp mates
yes there is drop uplinks that u can throw for peeps to spawn in on thats if u have someone with u that has them
think about it if u forward plan and drop one when u start the battle and get urself to the front line and hide the other somewhere then proceed to get redlined u could run ur squad thru the teleport and come out behind the enemy
there should be a limit to how meny and what could go thru it 1 full squad or a LAV for a small version
was thinking a vehicle varient for the larger maps that we will get at some point driving a HAV 5km would take time so drop a large teleport (yes needs more thought here) but u can garentee u team is going to have a tank at the other side of the map when u need it one of u squad members manages to fall back out of site to drop one the sqaud on the other side of the map sees the icon (blinking on the HUD/map) proceed to drop there own and roll the tank thru or 2 full squads
dont think meny will get behind the idea end of the day was an idea could have fun with some form of teleport tho |

Have also been thinking of a similar teleport device, but mine is a variation of the existing drop-uplink. You deploy it the same way. When an infantry is within range, he would see the O Interact command. Pressing O brings up the overview map showing all possible spawn locations. All drop up-links, CRUs, and, and MCCs will be selectable, plus any other teleport devices. While you are in the overview map (selecting spawn point) you are vulnerable. The devices will have health points and can be discovered, destroyed, but not hacked. But in the future, what if these *could* be hacked by an enemy? If you hack an enemy device, you could then teleport to any of his spawn points, INCLUDING THE MCC! |

I like both the teleport device and the modified droplink ideas. I had thought the balckops hav was getting a mobile reverse cru working like the droplink idea. If that was not ccp's plan I suggest it as a role for black ops hav. |

This would be cool, though I think it should have enough fuel for at least 3 jumps or else it might just be useless. |

no race has teleportation technology.
it takes a battleship to power a micro jump drive. no dropsuit will have anywhere near the power capabilities to power such a device.
play the game, respect the lore. |

Great idea! Only maybe instead of doing it once and not being able to do it agian, you will have a 2 minutes cool down.

CCP said they are starting with Battleships and will add the rest of the module sizes later. So who says it can't be scaled down to humanoied size? |

CCP says a lot of things, honestly the battleship is really the only one that benefits greatly from it. warp in a mission and activate the jump drive and pop out 100km to optimal range and proceed to smear the faces of everyone.
i would like to see a titan one and dread one. really everything else is so small it won't help them. warping 100km would put nearly all of them out of optimal range.
it's not going to work because you have to be able to move from point a to point b warp isn't a magic teleportation and on such a small scale you would probably end up in the crust of the planet because of the uneven terrain. |

Could be a drop uplink variant since drop uplinks are wormhole technology... the Peacekeepers and Scarrans are after it. |
