So I had been thinking about the new micro jump drives being added to eve, and thought maybe a version for dust might be fun.
The Personal Teleportation System is a personal scale micro jump drive adaptation that teleports you forward after spooling up. Watch out though, the charge up process on the PTS creates a loud audio signature, you have to stand still, and should you take a single hit during the charging process, the jump field will become destabilized and disintegrate your clone. The PTS, being an adaptation of starship technology, understandably requires large amounts of power and stabilizing the wormhole for even these short distances requires a large amount of processing power. Furthermore, the design of the PTS requires sizable amounts of fuel, meaning that a merc can only carry enough for a single jump. Fortunately, fuel can be replenished by nano-hives.
Personal Teleportation System Slot__________Equipment Charge Time___5s/4.5s/4s (Basic/Advanced/Prototype) Distance______Approximately half unmodified AR range for basic Ammo________1 PG/CPU_______(somewhat more than the pg/cpu of the drop uplink) Note__________If damaged while charging, user is disintegrated with no hope of revival, loud charging, teleport noise at destination, line of sight req., no movement while charging
Usage:
Switch from your weapon to the equipment, and aim at the ground where you want to teleport to, or aim beyond the maximum range to teleport to the full range. A graphical representation will show you your new position after teleportation depending on where you aim. Once you start charging, you cannot move, nor even look around. You can end the charging process at any time, however the charge takes a moment to wind down, during which damage will still disintegrate you. Once you teleport, you will find yourself at your destination facing the same direction as when you began charging, however the teleport process will create audible noise at your destination, so trying to teleport directly behind your enemy is ineffective. You should keep in mind that if you charge while you can see them, if they look in your direction they may very well see you, and immediate disintegration will follow, so shotgun teleports into the enemies face are rather risky (as they should be). Safe uses for this device would be teleporting across open areas such as roads from cover to cover without being seen, or teleporting across gaps when there aren't any enemies about. You could also put it on a logi to teleport to your team mates.
This device could be a lot of fun, and quite importantly, it would be another thing to make Dust different. |
