Man I love Mass Drivers. They are no wonder weapon, but if you have the skill to use them they are one of the most devastating weapons in the game. The feel of arcing grenades two hundred feet and landing four shots right on a snipers head is exhilarating. Finally, a power weapon that isn't press button to win, but rather requires skill. |

Killing yourself and watching the enemy dance away because you used it close quarters: frustrating.
Always using up those four rounds leaving the enemy with a sliver of armor: really frustrating.
Denying the enemy the use of a critical path and watching your team claim the objective: satisfying but with a complete lack of WP.
Landing a round on someone's head just over that ledge that you can't see over: priceless. |

Yeah, you really have to smart with this weapon. You can get tons of kills with it but controlling the engagement is key to doing so. |

I'm a fan of it also, but not very good at quickly judging long distances without giving away my firing position. Any changes I'd like would be in the zoomed in mode with some sort of rangefinding support. |

Maybe if zoom triggered some sort of flight path calculator that took time to process, time similar to the swarm launcher lock-on process, that gives us a hint at where the round might land. You trade time standing still to get a better but not 100% accurate idea of where you are shooting. It wouldn't be useful in close combat and would put the gunner at risk by standing there.

A read out of angle of elevation in aim down sights mode is only thing it needs to be perfect. This would let somebody range a target area, then give angle to squad of mass drivers to bombard. |

These and scrambler pistols are the game's only true skill weapons. With scramblers, you won't get a kill if you fire randomly like an AR user, but if you take your time to line up a headshot, not only will you kill very quickly (and at AR range in my case), but you will also have only spent 2 or 3 of your shots- leaving more room for kills.
Scramblers are also the weapon that has the most visible improvement when you skill into it further. You can go from a tiny clip with very short range to a decent sized clip with about the same effective range as an assault rifle.
Plus, it's great to imagine the look on a sniper's face after you kill them at range with a pistol. |

Yeah I almost suggested a sort of ghosted arc displaying fire path.. but figured that would be overpowered.. but I like your idea of standing still and waiting for it to calculate before it shows up. That way you can do precision firing but still be susceptible to enemy fire.
But for sure, I simply need more practice with it.

The mass drivers could use some buffs as I have profinceny L2 (that means I have operation L5) and use enhanced damage mods now I ask you will need all theese skills and mods to make the Mass Driver (best name for a tube) a viable option While you could just get AR Operation L3 get lots of shield extenders and pretend you are a good player while going 40/1

I can't possibly imagine what you're doing to have MDs at that level and think they're not good enough... that baffles me. I've only got it to level 3 and it kicks butt if you use it well, especially on the less open areas of maps.
The only annoyance is the lack of ammo but that's solved easily by carrying nanohives. I might work up my reload skill, so that's faster too because that is when most deaths occur. Oh and the irritation caused by lag making you shoot something much closer than you meant to and blowing your clone into little tiny pieces. |

i think they need a tweak to include damage for the user more if a nub shoots it 3ft in front of them in order to kill you. maybe a slight decrease in ROF but everything else is just a minor anoyance. |

So you want the nub to just grab an AR and shoot you that way instead? The MD is the most balanced this build, you can kill with it as a scrub and you can do extremely well as a skilled player. The only buff I could see it needing is ammo capacity, but a few more skilled MDers will probably stand up and say it doesn't.
Only thing that needs adjustments is the Assault Rifle. Make it a harder weapon to use and it'll all be fine. |

Tried it last build...hated it. Got killed by it a few times in this build and thought I should rethink it and try again, a little more seriously this time. Well I have to say, I may still stink at using it, but I've had more fun with this weapon than any other. The aiming is awkward but at least I kill others with it more than i kill myself lately. And I'm still "testing" this but it seems like I have a better chance of bringing down heavies with the Driver than with AR's...granted I'm still fairly new to FPS's and I have much work to do on my aiming. As far as the scope/zoom mode, it reminds me of the m203's, but doesn't translate well into a game. For me zoom mode is worthless atm, but i'll keep messing with it. I wish that little horizontal white line would move up and down as you changed angles (the vague increments are ok) so that you could at least have a reference for close, medium, long range (relative to the weapon). I feel that anything more precise would be overpowered. That's my 2 cents. |

I can provide logistics support to A or C on Manus Peak and provide supporting fire to the other objective at the same time. I rack up a lot of assists and a fair number of kills while doing it. I've also gotten to be pretty good at taking out snipers with it. Considering how difficult it was to learn I don't see how anybody can call it a noob weapon. It just looks clumsy and random. |

I think the MD is pretty well balanced. Ammo and clip size is about right, anything more and it'll start to border on OP. I haven't used ADS with it much at all because it doesn't seem to give any advantage over the normal sight. Ghosting would be pretty cool, but once again could border on OP.
I use the MD exclusively now with my Logi fit, and when I have a good squad with me it's an amazing weapon.
Pro tip - get to the high ground with this thing
(Disclaimer - I'm not really a pro at this game, but when I get high ground and have my MD I can be a pain in the ass for the red dots.) |
