Well this Idea came to my mind because I really love shooters that takes place inside of Space ships. So I thought it would be cool if we Dust mercs could be hired to conquer huge Spaceships.
It could be implemented as a kind of Skrimish map with different phases. First get to the ship (with a kind of Space dropship^^) and then fight for various hotspots inside the ship like engines weapon systems etc.
I dont know if this will ever happen but I wanted to share this idea |

I just saw a thread about a similar topic right after posting :/. Sorry for that.
But why exactly is this a bad idea?
I know if this gets implementet it should be done carefully or it should be a mission based gamemode involving npc ships or something else.
But seriuosly Dust merc should get the chance to interact with EVE someday.
It would be sad if the only interaction between EVE and Dust will be ISK transfer and some kind of orbital strike from EVE players. |

There is a older thread about this that I think i even message in, the conclusion i believe was that Eve players didn't want their spaceships mess with or really want Dust to effect Eve that greatly. ill edit with the thread name.

Not going to happen. This has been talked before many times.
1. Eve players don't want to see their dreadnaughts or battleships taken over by dust bunnies.
2. Too freaking complicated to put into code. How does one balance out the mechanics without it becoming just another griefing tool that can exploited like an Minmatar slave?
3. CCP already talked about the possibility of fighting in stations in space in the next few years. That alone is awesome enough for me as I like to interact with capsuleers personally rather then see them encased in their goo-filled pods. |

And the efforts of two teams of clones fighting for 15 minutes are easily undone in two minutes by the click of a button. |

yep
But even so i still relish the thought of ganking ships from the gankers, taking over stations, and laughing maniacally as I blow all their corporations' ships in their docks or sink their stations into suns - all fun and games.
And they would do the same. |

Stealing their stuff from a station itself would be all well and good. I'd have no issues with that. Or even capsuleers getting assassinated on a station. Actually sending a station into the sun would be a bit much. They're gigantic for one, very far away from the stars in the systems. And also to boot, they have no method of propulsion. |

This is an interesting Idea, but it has one major problem. There is no advantage to the players in Eve for this mechanic. Even the player whose ship is being invaded needs to have some advantage and way to fight back. I think that in Eve, exotic dancers are worth more than a Dust merc.
Oh idea, Eve pilots can fight back with Exotic dancers.. How many of us will actually kill something that gives.. uhh. entertainment. |

Give them a gun and armor and I shudder to think what they could do on a battlefield.
Fighting on stations as part of taking over star system sovereignty is awesome enough as it is. Eve players (myself included) do not want their capital/supercapital assets taken over by Dust Bunnies.
Besides. . . what would stop us from venting atmosphere or shunting drive plasma through the corridors?

Well, venting atmosphere won't do much against what is basically an EVA suit. Shunting drive plasma sounds fun.....*cue short bloodcurdling scream of roasted mercs* |

It would be imbalanced for us cheap mercs with our cheap stuff to be able to conquer super expensive ships. Would be a balance issue... but that can be fixed if there is some super expensive asset needed as a prerequisite for ship boarding. The ship's self destruct could be overridden. The capsuleer could be given time to hire an apposing merc team to defend the ship. I want ship boarding on at least NPC ships and PVE enemies though. Would not really effect actual EVE players. |

Who cares about what EVE players think. They don't think Dust should exist AT ALL. They should be ready to have their Titans stolen. I won't mind to have my Megathron stolen if I can hire mercenaries to defend my ship. |

Having a NPC ship to assault and capture would be alot of fun. I also play eve and agree that taking over player ships is a bad idea but an NPC ship would be alot of fun. If used in conjunction with 64/64 or even 32/32 player battles with half your team trying to finish the ground objective while the other half tries to take control of a orbiting NPC ship that once in control could be used to bombard enemy positions could make for an interesting time. |
