What's up with the Orbital Strikes I know they were being abused and I'm going to get a lot hate for this thread but seriously we need them back , playing as a team definately is not the answer it makes the corp arses even more annoying I do get in some corp matches with some mates but it gets rather boring shooting at some others that would be more experienced than us but just wants to chill out without all the nonsense ; long story short by nerfing the OS you turned it into a killstreak helping the lucky owner own more. It would really help out in clearing out areas of high consentration (what it is meant for)

How was the orbital strike nerfed? Harder to earn? Yes. Weaker? No, and thats the way it should be. |

In all the months I've been in this beta... I've seen 2 orbital strikes and I play quite allot. so i'm confused as to how they are abused and or to powerful... i've rarely seen them. |

Well you must have missed the period when squads used to be to get up to 6 pretty easily if they were good but on average 4 a game(defend order and actually killing / taking objectives). Fun times if you were doing it, not so much when The Warriors are sitting in spawn repping Lavs over and over spamming them :P.
As for only seeing 2 ever... thats weird lol. A squad should be able to get atleast 1 orbital a game nowadays, perhaps 2. |

I would agree to more orbital strikes only if there was a 5 second delay between when the blue light shines and when the strikes start hitting (this is similar to MAGs smoke to indicate an inbound strike). Currently with the 0 delay between calling in a strike and it hitting there is no possible way to escape unless you were already out of the radius anyway. This is stupid for a weapon that is an AOE insta kill on everything but dropships and tanks. The current lvl of making it really hard to obtain balances out the fact that it is super powerful. If they added the delay then strikes can go back to the same lvl of ease in obtaining them as they were before. |

Wow, you people must have been living in a cave. Before the precision strike nerf, I use to see one strike literally every minute in a single match for every single match. And if you were paying attention, you would know by now that the nerf is only a temporary solution and a more practical solution for the long term is underway with CCP. But considering that none of you even paid attention to the one strike per minute abuse we all saw during the first few weeks of Codex, I doubt you even followed up on what CCP was trying to accomplish. |

Before Patch: 5 OB's per game for a good squad, some people got up to 15 in a game.
After patch: 1-3 per game, used tactically, and 2200 WP to acquire between the squad. If every squad member gets 10 kills, or around 500 WP they're easy to get, especially if you start taking objectives, setting orders, and using Logi's in the squad. |

No you need like 2500 wp in your squad to get a single OBS. (Maybe its 2200 but I know its around the 2200-2500 range) |

Pretty sure it's 2500. I hope the command suit, when introduced, will reduce wp by 100 per command suit level for the squad leader IF the squad leader is wearing it. Would be a nice twist to them. |

OB's hit a much smaller area than strikes did in MAG, so it makes sense that the come down faster. Not to mention that if you're dead center in the strike area, and under small cover, you may survive. They really aren't that hard to deal with. |

Precision Strikes used to be stupid easy to obtain.
I remember one match i played i literally counted, and I am not exaggerating even a little bit, 14 Strikes in the first 6 minutes of the match.
As it is now, Strikes are a reward for good squad play, and a well placed one is a potential match changet.
Bad squads dont get them.
And that is how it should be. |

And that is how it should be. I've seen a squad of bad players earn me a Precision Strike.
They were smart enough to stick together, but they weren't very good players. So I stuck my defend order on one of them, and every time the "defend" guy died, I moved it to the next one. Also, I brought Uplinks and kept them active relatively close to the squad until we capped a CRU.
It kept them aware of where each other were, got them to group together, and gave me lots of commissions. Also, freed me up to flank the enemies while the rest of the squad remained in a solid group to draw enemy fire |

There is a difference between a Bad Squad, and a Squad of Bad Players.
A Squad of Bad(read: Less than Average Skilled) Players, sticking together and pushed in the right direction can make a difference in a match, as you so aptly showed.
a Bad Squad is utterly useless.

I think the author made an important point that a lot of you did not notice because of how he stated it because he mixed it with a lot of complaining about getting his S kicked. But what he actually said was that OS should be a known tactical asset that you get to use a certain number of times during a game in a tactical way - to like to sterilize an area to take or defend an objective; instead of having it as a sort of kill-streak reward the way it is in COD.
So, overall, it's an interesting suggestion with merit. If implemented right, this could be better than 'kill streak reward' OS that frankly make no sense, since how many ppl you kill and how often a battleship in the orbit gets to shoot should not be interrelated. |

The current "Precision Strike" is being fired from a War Barge.
At the moment, these only exist as staging areas from which we spawn into battle, and not much else.
In future, the plan is for them to be controlled by a "commander" player running an almost RTS-style game view. Much like the DUST/EVE Orbital strike implementation, this will allow players to request support from the commander, who authorises assets (or declines) at his/her discretion. |
