I remember one match i played i literally counted, and I am not exaggerating even a little bit, 14 Strikes in the first 6 minutes of the match.
As it is now, Strikes are a reward for good squad play, and a well placed one is a potential match changet.
Bad squads dont get them.
And that is how it should be. I've seen a squad of bad players earn me a Precision Strike.
They were smart enough to stick together, but they weren't very good players. So I stuck my defend order on one of them, and every time the "defend" guy died, I moved it to the next one. Also, I brought Uplinks and kept them active relatively close to the squad until we capped a CRU.
It kept them aware of where each other were, got them to group together, and gave me lots of commissions. Also, freed me up to flank the enemies while the rest of the squad remained in a solid group to draw enemy fire |

Ludvig Enraga wrote:I think the author made an important point that a lot of you did not notice because of how he stated it because he mixed it with a lot of complaining about getting his S kicked. But what he actually said was that OS should be a known tactical asset that you get to use a certain number of times during a game in a tactical way - to like to sterilize an area to take or defend an objective; instead of having it as a sort of kill-streak reward the way it is in COD.
So, overall, it's an interesting suggestion with merit. If implemented right, this could be better than 'kill streak reward' OS that frankly make no sense, since how many ppl you kill and how often a battleship in the orbit gets to shoot should not be interrelated. The current "Precision Strike" is being fired from a War Barge.
At the moment, these only exist as staging areas from which we spawn into battle, and not much else.
In future, the plan is for them to be controlled by a "commander" player running an almost RTS-style game view. Much like the DUST/EVE Orbital strike implementation, this will allow players to request support from the commander, who authorises assets (or declines) at his/her discretion. |
