There are complaints about AV weapons and being pinned from across the map. So here is an idea to ease the pain. Instead of nefing AV why not give vehicles another defense option
Dont nerf the AV weapons. They should have a long range because they cant equip any other weapon to defend themself up close. And anyways whats the point of AV if you cant hit the enemy before they run over your squad.
This ideas is soley for those annoying Swarm launchers it wont effect forge blasts.
How about an anti missile system that can be mounted onto HAVs and possibly LAVs. It would be able to, when activated shoot down incomeing swarm missiles. It can shoot down one missile to start but as you increase the skill possibly called Vehicle Defense it would enable you to equip better mudules to shoot down more at a time. or maybe have it fire faster to shoot them down quicker.
This would prevent across map swarms because even with a lower lvl defense system it would have shot down at least half the swarm by the time it reaches your vehicle. Up close though they would not be as effective because it would not be able to fire fast enough to take down more than 1 missile. Maybe make the module expenive. Just an idea. The defense for forges is just shield tanking. Plain and simple |

I think this is a grand idea. Missiles are without doubt ridiculously annoying to a point. Their job is easy, point-target-fire. (Hell, half the time you dont really have to target them and it locks the target [bug perhaps])
So here's an added idea:
Since missiles lock on a target you either use anti-missile defensive systems to shot them down or a flak spraying module to distort their aim. BUT, only for medium or large class vehicles. Make them expensive and pg/cpu intensive. Since smaller vehicles can dodge them easily behind obstacles, large vehicles such as tanks can't.
Additional food for thought.

I do agree that LAVs should not have access to this. While you may not need to make it as prohibitively draining on your fititng resources or wallet, you could simply make it like any other active module.
That is it has a duration in which it is active (while still having a certain rate on which it can shoot missiles), and give it an extended cooldown. Maybe something in the order of 10-15s active 30s cooldown might be appropriate. You would also need to make sure that you have it only shoot missiles locked to you so that you don't have multiple tanks rotating thier AMS to just shoot down almost every swarm launcher fired. Also having it only shoot missiles locked to you means it won't shoot down the dumb-fire missile launchers from vehicles and installations.
But thinking about it, it might be a ways away if such a thing might be implimented since it really would be targeting only 1 thing in the game. |
