1. I had no idea where my character came from or what his objective was, or even what type of world he was in. - perhaps the intro cinematic could be a PvE mission and tutorial to help new players know how to work their characters and give some background to the world. (I still need something to move forward to)
- I hope that Dust has the same mini intro that Eve has in terms of the races. You get a paragraph read to you that details the general feel of each of the four races. The world we are on is one of the 10,000+ planets we will initially be able to fight on. Check the map in your quarters to see the Galaxy and all the solar systems and all the planets. The initial Cinematic explains how dust soldiers became Immortal. The 'world' we live in will be shaped based on Eve and Dust players. There is background to it that you can read above. Eventually you'll learn more.
2. the battles feel meaningless. Just an area where new players get continuously one-shot. - what if after the battles, the winning team could "explore" the area, maybe take out some rogue drones or do something for isk, and to interact with other players. - There are far more things promised to us with this game, currently we are testing a very small portion of the game. I'm really hoping the Next patch reveals some of that.
3. I feel lonely. Unless there is someone from real life that is on, I don't find the game fun. - make an open area where players can go (besides their room where they do nothing but look at their toes) and interact with other players. Also this would allow players to show off their gear, and maybe appreciate ccp's graphics. - See answer 2
4. [suggestion] put some defensive positions like bunkers so weaker players might have a chance. (and try to avoid the problem in eve where the new players are the product). - CCP beter have somethign down for the new players. The only answer I hear is "Highsec" . Common, they should know that Eve Online has a huge player base in Highsec and they aren't all nubs. Dust's highsec will be filled with a lot of outstanding players with bottomless wallets trolling the nubs.
[question] what is with the shadows in the corners on the screen? - My guess is its Part of the monitor the mercs are viewing the world from.
