Also, widen the hit area for knives a bit. Fix the player hooking so whenever we attack someone we don't 'doosie doe' on them and ultimately miss them. |

Had an epic Shotgun vs. Nova Knife duel earlier today. I won (with only 2 Armour left, but I won), and I didn't deserve to. If the Knives had swung a little wider, he probably would have had me 2 shots earlier. |

Agreed with all of the above... Or don't fix it but increase its range slightly. As it stands nova knives are a complete waste for a heavy dropsuit specialist. I thought hey maybe these would be awesome for when I run out if ammo with me hmg... So ******* wrong. Oh and dead... |

Agreed that they are next to useless for a heavy suit... honestly, even if they increased the range, a heavy suit would still not benefit from them well. My experience in Nova Knife use suggests either the Knifer has to be very quick and agile to close the ground quickly and get into Melee Range without getting shot to bits, or very stealthy, sneaking up behind and taking attacks of opportunity.
These are the province of Scout Suits, and to some Degree Assault Suits. Logistics Suits, and Heavy Suits simply aren't that mobile, or stealthy (with the possible exception of the Type-II, B-Series, and vk.1 variants of the logistics suit).
The same goes for Heavies with Shot guns. On certain maps they are deadly... getting caught in narrow quarters with one means death, with little ability to kill them before they kill you. HOwever, outside of thos narrow areas, Heavies with Shotguns die very easily to Assault Suits, Scout Suits, and Even Logis as long as they move backwards and keep firing.

And if backed by a good squad, a Logi Sniper isn't a bad idea either. |

Interesting how this old topic was brought up. This is something we have to carefully consider. We all like to see the nova knife become vastly improved, but we also don't want it to become just another instant-win Halo plasma sword. I still want to it to require skill (no, not skillbooks - I'm talking actual player skill) to utilize so that it can have meaning when using it. Just like how those dropships require real pilot skill to fly. But I also don't want it to be too challenging either that only so few people use it like it is now. |
