they don't have to do this, but if they want create a good community base this is firs step. Im just going to use the missile nerf as an example. Yes it needed to change everyone is in agreement, everyone now also agrees they are a waste of time to the point i dont even bother looking for cover if a see a missile tank. adjusting three things in one go, is too heavy handed, reducing the range on missiles alone probably would have done the trick. Swarms as a second, having it damage yourself was all the community was asking for, instead they are still next to useless.
I think the best beta i was in (until EA took over) was warhammer online, their was clear back and forth going on all the time i mean paul barent even freaking sent me emails on how to break into industry, you could often clearly find devs ingame or know they were running about, or their was at least a GM at anytime someone could speak to. the community knew what was going on and what was being tested and why.
maybe one thing to do, is to create a GM beta channel ingame that people can join, and just have a GM talking away, or choose a few players to act as relays a bit like a rookie channel in EvE, im almost positive far better feedback will be gotten though that method and allow the community to feel more engaged
eck sorry gammer and spelling, stuiped deslixa
Great point about GM's, having that 'in game relay' would certainly give players some confidence that things were being looked at from our perspective! Games I've played where you could see a GM in the same game as you, was brilliant, as you know they experience what your experiencing.
Altogether a great idea IMO :) |
