Hello, I have a CRU on my dropship and in no time at all, a full dropship. Now, I was flew over just about everything, and the enemy had all the NULLs, but not a single person dropped out of my ship! I don't know if it's because you are lazy, or just don't know any better, but you can use something called an INERTIA DAMPENER!
Get out of my flying brick next time, I'm not going to land. |

The first difficulty is figuring out where you are and whether or not you want to jump. You can't really see and nothing helps for that (unless the doors on the dropship pop open- then I can see)
After that, you still aren't sure where you'll land because of a little thing called momentum. Once I was flung out at a wide angle directly in front of a red LAV. Funfun.
You brought up a good point but I do believe there is a solution: Map
You can't do anything sitting inside a dropship, so you do have the ability to safely access your map. There, you can do whatever; See where you are going, predict a path based on flight pattern, or at least give squad orders before you jump.
Of course, you would have to plan ahead and decide when to close you map, and prepare to jump. I do understand where you are coming from though. |

Do you hover over highly contested areas or stay in high, largely irrelevant areas of the map - for fear of losing your ship?
Nope, I flew in ovals over the map a few times before taking a final swarm hit, I assume they were farming WP, and to the second part, hovering is the worst idea, but I did fly over many objectives (but it was line harvest so half of them were covered by the big metal roof)
Also I was flying a practice militia, I wasn't too concerned over losing it |

Crashing my DS sounds good and all, but it cost 650K in ISK....so no.
However, they were at least nice enough to let me keep my pilot seat, because a glitch caused me to become a gunner somehow, but no one took my seat (guess I'm just that good). On the other hand, we were on the ground but no one got out. It was like a WTF are you doing moment. |
