lets talk about something that seems to be lacking in all matches i play, besides the ones im lucky enough to get in with other corps who actually might have the same objective and that objective being to win.
it seems that a lot of the newer guys joining the beta are having trouble figuring out that you can team chat.
maybe if we all used team chat more and worked together in these matches it would help acknowledge the fact that the game is becoming more balanced and with tactical load outs and commands we can achieve our ultimate goal and that is to win.
most squads join a match and stay in squad chat and just rely onthe fact that the other squads are going to help. if we were communicatin in matches with other squads maybe we could work as one whole unit and not a bunch of squads running around trying to capture various objectives.
with the game becoming more balanced its going to take a collective effort to win and thats the way it should be played. i think there is a word for it , might be called TEAMWORK

I doubt that pub matches will be much more than Mercenary Team Deathmatch. It's not CCP, it's just the nature of public matches to be free for alls. Pub matches are being balanced for solo play because that's how they are played. |

I hate to say this (MAG). I hope they can organize the chatting system on Dust 514. Squad leaders and a platoon leader speaks to each othe. Platoon leaders speaks to each other. I know the game has a built in type Chat room, but who reads a command while in a battle?
Coming from MAG, the voice chat is what I think it's best at. Since they mentioned that Dust 514 is having a multiple battles in one planet, I believe it's somewhat like Domination mode in MAG. Make the EVE pilot the OIC.
I really like how in MAG with proximity chat, I think it's fun talking to enemies. Also, it works well to people who doesn't have a mic, and they can hear you via TV speaker.
Squad leaders speaks among to squad leaders. Platoon leaders speaks among platoon leaders. A platoon leader speaks among to squad leaders in a platoon. OIC speaks to platoon leaders in a company. The others can only hear them but they can't speak to them.

Yeah, the only difference the two is that Dust 514 has a corp battles. MAG has random blue dots vs a Clan. |

As much as I love the email system in dust , I found the message system connected to PSN mail very effective in MAG for informing the player of a message through subjects in the email on screen. There is a lot of times unless i actively go seeking messages I don't get them or in game chat. If CCP could make messages flash on the top right of my screen I feel a MIC wouldn't be so heavily needed for teamwork or this feature would add to teamwork. |

anyways your right we are all guilty of it. and I know joe does try a lot no matter who he is playing with but man i stopped using team-chat because after a while you get tired of hearing someone breathing heavy into the mic and not responding, or listening to mom and son argue, dogs barking, EXTRA LOUD music

We'll like plenty others have said. This is just a bunch of randoms working together. It'll be hard to get people to listen to you when they're all trying to go rambo.
I believe Low-Sec and Null-Sec will have players relying more on teamwork to get the job done to be honest. Right now you can lose most of your ISK and build it back up to a moderate amount, well a moderate amount for the time... |

I hate scrub blueberries to begin with and still seem to have to take/defend objectives if they are there or not. whats the point of team chat if thats the case. If there are other good corps in sqds like syn, stb, etc we let them handle whatever obj they are at.
so if you work with your squad and manage part of map or objective we all win and I don't have listen to scrubs |

The problem is that randoms are always going to play like randoms. A common voice channel would help a little if there was a natural leader who could gather up the troops and those troops were at all inclined, but it is no guarantee. The sheer chaos on a full team channel would likely render it useless, especially if there were arguments over what to do along with the usual music, barking dogs, and side conversations on top of it. Now think 32 or 64 people on one channel.
CCP has designed DUST for deep team play with stratagey and tactics being an important element, but the vast majority of matches are composed of randoms who are either not inclined to teamwork, or simply incapable. It's just not going to play the way it was designed. Corp battles is what DUST is meant for and how it plays best. Blueberries and Brownian motion does not equal objective play. There are pockets of organization where a corp squad is, but it doesn't ever get beyond that unless two squads from the same corp manage to get in on the same side. Then they typically roll the other side.
I'm not sure how CCP can force organization in public matches. These players haven't been drafted and they don't have to listen to an officer. I'd love to see it happen, but the only mechanism I see for organization and teamwork is called a corporation. CCP supports that (well, except for only letting a squad of four into any public match), but they can't force blueberries to join one.
DUST is being balanced on public matches where solo play is the norm. Vehicles are typically OP in public matches due to the lack of a coordinated response, and they are UP in corp matches where coordination is the norm. They are being balanced for public matches which is fine for the normal play of the game, but that's going to hurt the end goal of large corp battles. I don't know the answer to the problem. It could be to just buff the up and ban them from hi-sec matches. You'd have to add a full field simulator for practice to give pilots a chance to gain player skill, but it could be done. Then every player would have to start out as infantry and build a solid ground game before dropping points into vehicles since they couldn't use vehicles to gain ISK or SP. |

most of them have never played a tactical shooter before, and apparently don't understand that there is the option to fallback not just rush blindly forward with no health, they have no concept of basic tactics such as flankings.. when they're this stupid they are beyond help, and will scoff at you if you try to advise them, claiming to be so and so on such and such leaderboard of game X.. |

1) there is nothing real at stake, therefore, no reason for ppl to selflessly try for the team
2) 4 ppl squads are a joke. but we won't get past that until the game is stable enough to support more than 16 vs 16.
I wish they would let corps to deploy in reg battles or at least allowed a mode that only corps could join. We would see a lot more tactical play and team play. Corp tournament was awesome in this way. I wish CCP were more interested in testing stuff in the corp battles environment. |

I run with team chat on and, most of the time I hear nothing. I announce when and where I put down a droplink when breaking out of being redlined, I comm when I spot an orange heading to an undefended objective. I listen for useful information. 99.9% of the time is silence. .009% is the background noise of music, breathing, chip crunching, etc. .001% have I ever heard any meaningful communication over team chat. |

No one on mic is the standard for all PS3 games.
When you ran into someone willing to chat in your language you usually add him to your "friends" and join in future games - it's like 1 person in 10 games max.
Some people will start talking only when someone is talking. That's why default chat off is bad. They do not know that someone is talking and why it is useful to spot that HAV until it crushes them.
At the moment I am missing simple commo rose for things like - need ammo |
