THE LOGI CODE, Five R's
- Rezz - Resupply - Repair - Reinforce - Rally
The Role of Support Your first build is 2 perishable lvl. 1 or greater Logi - Drop Suits with the three equipment slots #1- EQUIPMENT: Nanite Injector, Drop Uplink, Nanite Resupply or Repper #2- EQUIPMENT: Nanite Injector, Nanite Resupply, Repper (repair tool) 1and 2 (how I roll - find your play style) High Slots: Shield Extender, Damage Modifier, or another Shield Extender Low Slots: Armor Repper, Armor, Cardiac Regulator, or CPU/PGU mods
Make 3 militia versions (Expendables) with the 2 slots being: A nanite injectors B: #1Droplink, #2Supply, #3Repper. 3 limited militia builds wont cost you any money when playing with randoms. Nades and Weapons and optional equipment will be covered later.
Primary Duties: Reinforce, Rez, Resupply, and Repair. Figure out your play style to know your weapon preference. Then stay with your team. YOU ARE NOT RAMBO - a logi is an easy target. Slow with mid-grade armor means you'll survive better when with a group. You do, however, get the most High and Low slot combination for max protection later.
Rally optional - but needed Your first job if nobody else will take it: spawn with #1, place it in a protected area for ambush or near an objective for skirmish to rally your troops. If the uplink ever goes down spawn with the #1again. When the drop uplink goes down, respawn with another uplink build. The rest of the time supply and repair and backup. Figure out your best play style.
Character Building:WEAPONS Find the Weapon you like to use and that you are most effective with. Here are a few suggestions that I have found playing with a logi:NOTE: Your Logi has ONE weapon slot- make it count. The best for a Logi is the AR or a mass driver.
AR - the assault rifle is always the easiest and most standard piece of equipment on the battlefield. Used by about 80% of the players you can't really go wrong with it. It is simple to use and requires only moderate skill to master. Gek or Exile AR is great for a logi, when fixed the TAC AR will be good for ranged support as well. + can go 1v1 and live in medium to short range battle +most versatile weapon with many variants + easy to fit - you may be getting closer to enemies than you want, but that is your job if you are a logi, stay with the team
MD - Mass Driver. The Doctor of area denial, damaging the masses and finishing off the wounded. Difficult to master, easy to start out with. A direct shot is powerful, but most of the time you will be aiming at the feet of your opponents to be specific in damaging certain areas or enemies. + Damage many people at once. (mix in some flux grenades for a fun time) + Proto is godly - low initial damage (ADV and proto level pwn), not good for 1v1, short range, no militia variant
LZR - Laser rifle - NO in general. The gentleman's weapon. A tricky weapon to use and even more difficult to master. A raw beam of energy erases shields and causes panic in groups of shielding players. + Super damage at long range (sharpshooter buff makes it godly). + Dmg mods can significantly increase the damage done near burnout. - Low damage starting out, must keep beam on enemy, AND at short range YOU WILL DIE. It is less than worthless at short range, might as well be be throwing food/squirrels/ or even your rifle as you have more of a chance to melee kill than shoot them. Very difficult to use when your class requires you to be close to rez and rep your team. USE ONLY for snipers and red line battles. - Overheating can kill you - burnout suicide.
Shotty - Shotgun, hard for a slow logi to use, but deadly at short range and the best alternative in close quarters if you do not use the mass driver. + Close range god gun. Finish off opponent when running to rez in a closequarters battle - range makes it worthless in open areas, difficult to back up your party
SMG - NO. It is relegated to a sidearm for a reason. - AR and Shotty beat it every time.
Sniper (NO)- if you use this to play as a logi you will be kicked (eventually) as you are not doing your job. Go home, cry, then get a scout suit. OR make it known that you only use the suit for the 4 high 4 low proto version.
Find one to focus on - and one you will use for free builds. Use the secondary skill upgrades to un-gimp yourself
Grenadier: A MUST. This is used as your secondary weapon. And with nanohives you wont always run out of these beauties. You must learn to cook these babies for insta-kills - practice practice practice - these are your sidearm weapons. Cooking means holding the grenade for a time before you throw it - or hold it and suicide. With the right timing this becomes a very effective weapon. Do not use the BPO nades, you cut yourself short by 1, and they are regularly sooooo cheap they are well worth the buy. Flux = shield burners, great for group support, but will not finish off opponents, choose wisely. Big area of effect. Locus = standard nade AV = Anti Vehicle nades, throw just above the vehicle - timing is difficult - and they don't work on anything else.
Melee: If someone gets too close - Sometimes your only defense surprises people. Difficult to use, don't depend on it. |

Character Building: Skills Skill Suggestions by priority (opinion), "defense is the best offense" Keeping yourself Alive, you can't help anyone if you're dead
You should have chosen the enforcer or artificer start out builds for your character, if not, do not fret, the beginners skills are easy enough to learn. Your first purchases are going towards your suit, weapon, and armor. Your equipment is fine for a while and will suffice for repping, rezzing, and resuplly for the time being.
Drop Suit Command: lvl 3 (you disappear off scanner a little more) Minmatar Logistics Dropsuit: Lvl 1 is essential with the Sver Suit - which you need to have. Weaponry: Max, lvl 5 (base weapon damage bonus) Field Mechanics: Max (base armor bonus) If you are good at shooters (top 5 of leader board each match) consider getting an upgraded weapon. (lvl 3 AR for example)
IFF CPU or PGU is Red in character fitting it means you need more. Choices are to upgrade your dropsuit, or upgrade your skills. These two are the basis for your next upgrade binge. Max these out only if your fittings are having trouble. Combat engineering: lvl 2 Circuitry: lvl 3
At this point you must choose which direction to go: Reinforce, or the secondaries Rep, Rez - Resupply, or rally. My suggestion is greater defense, and will be listed next.
- Reinforce - Shield Boost Systems: 4 (recharge shields faster, and key to other skills) Shield Enhancements: 3-4 (Opens more shield extenders: adv and complex) NOTE: On lvl 1 suits only use the basic or advanced level of gear. Use the complex, or proto gear with the ADV and proto suits. Shield Control: 3 (boosts base shield amount) Choose your weapon and advance a useful trait for it (sharpshooter, reload, capacity, or the weapon class itself). A FPS game is based on killing the other team. Is the distance to great? Getting shot while reloading? Ammo shortage? You know where you are failing the most, take a few levels here to help change that about. You might also try another weapon or get the advanced version of your weapon. Remember, light weapons only.
Optional: Armor Repair Systems: as much as you can (bonus to rep rate if you use armor reppers, and your repair tool). You usually have nobody to depend on for repairs, so this is for you.
At this point you should be beefy enough to handle yourself and help the team. Moving to your secondary skills will increase what you can do for the team, or you can choose to focus on yourself
Secondaries Team - Rezzing, Rally, and Resupply Nanites: lvl 3 to max - Supply points to rep armor and the best nanite injectors to nearly fully rez teammates Drop Uplink: 1 or more - not really my specialty.
- Rezzing - to run to them Minmatar Logistics Dropsuit: Lvl 2 and 4 open up the Sprinting logi's. 1 less equipment slot but faster sprinting speeds, recovery rates, and it will surprise some of the scouts you play with - very fun, give it a try. Endurance: Maxed (25% stamina) Very Costly Vigor: Maxed (25% recovery rate) Very Costly
-Repair- Remote Repair: 1 to 3. ATM the Triage repair tool does the most to help our heavies, but going proto gives you a two streamer... very nice. The Flux gives nearly doubles the range increase to keep you safely out of fire while helping your team.
Secondaries for You (you selfish kitten - but highly recommended) These are all costly but helpful Minmatar Logistics Dropsuit: Maxed This requires an ungodly amount of SP. It is not for the faint of heart to attempt. You are looking at a few weeks of play time and passive accumulation, with or without boosters, to hit this level. You will want to have many of your skills already at a satisfying place before attempting this Proto level. ADV level gives 3 high/low/equipment slots. Proto gives 4 high/low/equipment slots. The most in the game so far. You can do anything with this suit, besides hold a HMG. You will also have your sprinting logi suits as well. The amount of slots mean you can customize your suit to any extreme or balance that you would like. But it is also very expensive ISK wise. The suit is spendy, but once you get it fitted with your complex gear, equipment, and weapon 1 loss may cost you into the millions. This is the suit you use for corp battles, or when you are hired to win, no matter the cost.
These other skills will help make the enemies around you pop up on your scanner even when they are not sprinting, identify spawn uplinks, and generally help with getting shot in the back by a scout. Dropsuit Command: Max - open up other suit options and lowers scan profile. Sensor Upgrades: 3 - we don't do this for the gear, but it is the key to the other passive skills we want. Profile Dampening: 3+ (you disappear a bit more) Long range Scanning: 3+ Profile Analysis: 3+ (more easily scan others)
Hacking: 3+ if you plan on being effective in skirmish. The Minmatar logi suit already has a natural hacking bonus.
Demolitions: 1+ Play with this. You have the equipment slots to pack this stuff around. Proximity mines are only AV and you can lay down up to 6 of them at a time. Place them on paths highly traveled by LAV's to get free kills, and upgrade them to severely damage a HAV (Tank). Remote explosives are a good tool for defense. You can have up to three out at a time, 1 detonation signal will set them all off at once. Place at objectives - signal to stop/kill a hacker. Place in groups, at CRU's, or at corners and time the explosion for great fun. - you may get hate mail for this.
Spec into AV stuff. With the most high slots a proto swarmer and a lot of damage mods makes you the king of vehicle popping... but you cant kill anything else. Or just really good grenades may be your bag.
New Equipment, Modules, and Suits will come eventually. |

Final words: There are many different builds and many different pieces of knowledge that could have been added. Like basic tactics - Move from cover to cover or "If you are dying before they do get more HP, if they are running off before you can kill them get damage mods." - not mine but very true.
The trick is to find your playing style. example: While the Shotty is awesome the logi is slower than most players and also has a high scan level so the element of surprise is lost and you cannot evade as well - yet some people have figured out how to play well with it and the Type II has an amazing sprinting speed to work with.
I play as a medic. I prefer to cover the mid - short range offense of the group while the meat grinding heavies and troopers take the mid to long range guys. and I rep and repair when necessary. I like it and it suits me, as a logi you should be playing close to your team.
I like the support role, however the Logi Proto suits are amazingly powerful because of the customization possibilites. You could turn your logi into a dmg dealing speed freak or an AV tank. The possibilites are not covered in this guide. This is just for the beginners. Many other logis have offered input and specifically made threads on different builds, basic tactics, drop uplinks, and many other subjects. This will get you started in the role.
Experiment with weapons and setups to find your niche. The equipment bonus of the logi is your advantage. Make a pile of proximity mines with remote explosives and see a tank just melt with surprise. There are different ways to make your squads work - you can be the one that tips the battle in your teams favor.
As a last note: My OPINION only: I recommend using real money, buying aurum and purchasing the Lvl 1 Sver Logi suit. An infinite Lvl 1 Logi build will be your base class for a long time to come. Also recommend purchasing the blueprint (BPO) Shield extender, Armor, Armor repper, nanite injector, nanohive, drop uplink, CPU/GPU mods, and Cardiac Regulator. You will get better equipment eventually, but these will be your friends for a while and build up ISK for later purchases. You make enough ISK to support your builds, but this keeps me ISK positive. You do not have to do this. I just find it helpful and since I bought some merc packs a while back I have the aurum to burn on this and UVT and boosters. But, you do what you think is best. |

Most Logibro's i meet actively acknowledge that they can't shoot as well as the rest, and choose Logistics so they can support the ones that can. I'm one of the ones that actively acknowledge this. I come from an MMO healer background, not an FPS one, so the support stylings of the logitech are definitely more inline with my skill set. I've been known to miss targets that are three inches from my face while using a shotgun, but damn it all if I'm not good and ducking, dodging, and diving through enemy fire to rez the guy that just got steamrolled by a tank. I also pilot dropships as a means of support, since I think that fits the logi mindset as well. Logis/Pilots do the jobs others don't want to so that you can get back into the action quicker or continue to pew pew long after you should've been dead. Just, you know, don't expect me to actually hit anything myself.
In other shooters I was usually in the top five, front line slayer, so this is a step back for me. But i have enjoyed it, and the key with any game is to make sure one likes to play - if that is not accomplished there is no reason to continue. It has been fun, and I do like the dropships. If I could get some sort of smaller hovercraft like thing... not the LAV and fly around to different posts (rebuild the fighter) that might be right up my alley. Or the sneaky cloaked shotty to the back - easy to do too. This is more of a challenge. More options, more gear, more variables. i like it. |

You are right Checkmeister, Logi's are the fall back for every support role - rez, repair, dropship, lav, etc. As the game progresses we might see more heavies and assault class try some of the vehicles, but for right now the whole role is very skill intensive.
Keep to the Code |

Thank you for your patience. I have updated my guide. I have tried to gear it to your first setup as a logi and then where to go once you get the basics down. I have changed the weapon preferences (logi's should not use lasers - even though they are fun - unless just holding a base or on clear open terrain). Added some explanation to the skills and tried to make the WALL of TEXT a little more friendly.
Please comment if you feel I should make further changes. |

FastEddie McClintock wrote:My fits are very similar to the oneGÇÖs mentioned in this guide except for one item. I recently started running a Cardiac Regulator on my low slot alongside an Armor Repper. I have to sprint a lot to keep up with my squad. By the time they move out again, I am often rebuilding a depleted stamina bar & will be in a constant struggle to keep up. LogiGÇÖs in lower tier suits are very slow.
It is tempting to run an armor plate but that will just decrease mobility even more. A Cardiac Regulator will not make me run any faster but will allow me to regen stamina at a much faster rate.
My survivability has increased quite a bit because I now have the stamina recovery to stay with the squad, reposition to cover faster, cross the long stretch from the MCC back to the action w/o being picked off by snipers (as much), & be able to jump over objects/rails that would not be possible w/depleted stamina. I can also move more efficiently from group to group to drop nanohives, rez, & repair.
Unless I am chosen to run CPU/PG intensive equipment like Mass Drivers or Drop Uplinks, I would be hard pressed to run without a Cardiac Regulator ever again. Survival & effectiveness in the field is greatly enhanced by increased mobility in my opinion.
Great guide.
A very good note, thank you - I'll try it out. I would suggest that you also/instead get to the next level of logi suits, the Type II has the sprinting speed similar to that of a scout. I put a regulator on him and there was no place he couldn't get to quickly. I'll be building a speed hacker with it. |

Good for you, get a better suit and use the expanded slots to help you excel in that arena and be the LogiRambo. You might even tweak it with a cardiac regulator like the above post suggested to give yourself more mobility. Good luck, and keep to the code. |

I just wanted to post a thank you for the many comments here. Suggestions you have made that I missed, like the worthless SMG's, cardiac regulators, and aurum equipment, I had not previously put in the guide. Thank you all for your input and please continue to comment so that I can make this a better beginners guide.
Special thanks to Cross Atu, he was one of the first posting logi's that I had met on the forums and always give sound advice. and to FastEddie, Chankk, Yoma, Free Healing, Soulskulptor, and Aranis. |

IV 7T wrote:nice infos.
But what makes me wonder, the default logic suit has a high module damage multiplier for a SECONDARY weapon, just the suit only has a LIGHT weapon slot, depsite the fact it carries a SMG on default, which would be able to be used as a secondary weapon...on other suits with a secondary slot.
Since the stats do not show the effect on the weapon damage, just the multiplier, i do not know if it has any effects on the weapon or not.
I would say the default module is a total waste, not complaining about the 'penalty, CPU and PG wise, but unsure if i really understood the damage multiplier of light and seconday weapons.
If that is the case I would say that it is a mistake and should be corrected, I cannot verify this at the moment. A secondary weapon mod, or "sidearm" damage mod would be ineffective. The single weapon slot is a light weapon slot that can fit light weapons or sidearms. BUT the damage mod only affects the given slot. For example, placing a Light weapon damage mod in a high slot and a light weapon, say an AR, the damage mod would be effective. Same goes for a Light weapon damage mod with an SMG in the light weapon slot. It is the slot that is affected.
A sidearm or heavy damage mod equipped and an AR or SMG in the Light weapon slot would be, to my knowledge, unaffected by such modules. Match the modules to the placement of the weapons. For a suit like the Heavy this is very important to remember, as well as those people who run sidearms in both their light weapon and sidearm slots. They must be specific with their modules and what they would like to be affected. |

Glad we can all be constructive about this stuff though. Good to work with the both of you and increase my own understanding of things.

Had to add this from Vyzion Eyri, it fits with the selfless role of the logibro:
I will spend whatever costs necessary to ensure blueberries know they are never alone in the fight to overcome to pubstompers.
There is no battlefield I will not walk, no mountain I will not scale, no LAV I will not stand in front of, if it means the blueberries realise that one day, one glorious day, they will be that man. That selfless logibro who gave up 500k in one game to prove to them that protobears may be tough, but it is the spirit that lasts.
I will fight to the bitter end to pick up that fallen comrade, even if it means sacrificing myself by placing my shields between the body and the sniper I know is watching, hoping for a free kill, knowing that his rebirth will begin with the death of his saviour.
I will sink to the bottom of my wallet to ensure that blueberries will never cry for ammo, never hurt for armour, never sigh for bleeding out.
I will work until the enemies see my selfless acts of purity as true logibroness, and refuse to kill me.
Sometimes, it is the simple fact that a hero can be anyone, even a man doing something as simple as placing a nanohive on a blueberry and telling him his killing streak wasn't over, that keeps me going.
But why do we fall?

I'm sorry I have been away. New daughter was born - long and tall nordic viking girl. Anyway, looking forward to the new build and testing out the new skills. Your input will be invaluable concerning the new weapons and tweaks made to the standard weapons. The new suits present a challenge as there is no way to skill into all of them at the moment... but soooo excited!
New logi build - Shield tank
4 complex shields 3 complex regulators -75% shield recharge delay and one complex armor repper. On a Vk1 it is over 200,000 isk and speedy as hell. You must constantly find cover to recharge, so you have quick skimishes then back off and then run back again - fun times
Also if you armor tank use a VK1 to keep some of your speed. |
