well if you played CoD or BF3 and used the holographic sight then you know its a box with a red reticle in it the reticle being a holographic aka just floating there. when you think hologram from the future starwars holonet, or cortana etc. a floating bundle of light forming a shape.
well why not just have a floating red dot/iron sights sight the good thing about iron sight is it keeps your vision clear the good thing about red dot is it is accuract combine both a floating red dot or line of red dots acting but still feeling like iron sights with little clutter to look past. |

I see what he wants - He wants to see a superimposed line drawn from the gun barrel to the target! For simple balancing, this would be best included with any weapon that has physics applied to it - currently only the Mass Driver. Artillery-style weapons could use this to get a general gauge of the target area - having other players tell you co-ordinates to fire at would still be much better though. Sniper weapons that trade pinpoint accuracy for high damage and physics could have one simulate the bullet path based on prior shots, acting as an automatic spotter in lieu of a specialized spotter player. |

I can see a fully holographic sight being a good option for SMGs too. Not such an advantage there as it would be with Zat's suggestion, it would be more about looking cool in that situation, but it would succeed. |

nothing like what Zat suggested however more like a mixture of red dot from CoD and ironsights just a flaoting red dot or line of red dots hovering over the usual iron sights |

I just had an idea how this could work...
Ironsights, in most cases, consist of two main parts. Closer to the shooter, there's a V-shaped section with two ridges, and further away, in between these, is a pin. You line up the pin between the sides of the V, and you should be approximately on-target.
A holographic sight like Ops Fox is suggesting could have a decent sized holographic CIRCLE near the shooter, floating above the gun barrel, and a dot that marks the optimal position to be aiming for your shots to connect. This could be integrated with a rangefinder so the dot would automatically reposition itself to the appropriate position for your current distance from target. |

Sounds like ops is wanting a modified red dot without the housing or lens. A cross hair projected about an inch above the body of the weapon. |
