I'm not talking about the tier, I'm talking about the Style.
Armor (Type 1) vs Shield (Type II).
Which is best for the various roles that a Heavy can take on?
thoughts?
shield for Anti-Infantry, Armor for Anti-Vehicle? |

TBH, type2 for both infantry and vehicles. It's pretty simple, type2 allows you to regen almost half your HP (shields) fairly quickly... type1 forces you to use armor reppers, which uses up PG/CPU, and is A LOT slower than the shield regen. |

There is no advantage to using the armor suit this build, when they took away the incentive for logies to repair the heavy suit it takes to long for it to repair itself with reps, so a shield heavy is the wise choice. Even for AV it is the best choice cause you are more mobile, the difference in hit points form one suit to the other is not going to save you from a hit from a tank or a drop ship, it may let you live through a splash shot but not two so there is no advantage I have found. |

If you're somehow lucky enough to run into a Logi player who's actually running Repair duties (which you probably won't... unless it's me), then the Armour Heavy can be viable.
In general, you want shields. |

That feel when I thought this thread was going to be about diabetes...
On topic if you play alone in random games, shields, nothing else to it. But in a more organized environment, say you get into a good corp/squad with a good logi with a repair tool and hives, armour has some merits in clone v. clone combat. Overall though I'd still say shields, especially in open areas (most of most of the maps) where the logi in question would be a sitting duck for any flank or snipers and that slight advantage goes downhill fast. |

Besides what you already know 'Type II' is more manoeuvrable.

Is it not possible eventually to raise your Armor high enough to withstand one direct hit from a tank? |

A type2 can get their total HP up just as high as a type1. Don't think an armor tanked heavy would stand any better chance against an HAV. (arguably, the type2 would probably be better because of the faster speed) |

I use a type 2 for sniping. Nothing beats 600 shields, you just take the enemy sniper shot to the face, laugh, and kill him.
also once you kill someone, get behind cover and take advantage of the rapid shield repair rate. Also drop an armor nanohive *use a depot*
But yeah I like to duck behind cover so I go with the type 2 |
