Currently hardcore players are totally advantaged over casual players and it will always be so if there is a point based system. In EVE the system is much better since everyone has the same learning rate except of booster users so why havent you choosen this system for DUST? It works pretty well and EVE is praised for it so please give us this system too! |

Okay try to imagine this: Dust uses EVE skilling and you start the game 2-4 years after release. Many people you meet will ohk you, only because they started the game earlier. |

Thats always the case: If you start 2 years later with the current skill system you are also nearly one hit killed and therefor you cant catch up to them because you wont earn SP. With an EVE skill system you can. |

You do know that starting two years later you won't be able to catch up ever in eve, because you ... well started 2 years later than the other?
Aside from that, actually you do earn SP even when you're failing hard. And even if you wouldn't get any SP at all (for whatever reasons) you would still get SP. Because Dust also have a passive SP gain like Eve. |

EVE is subscription based, so you literally pay for the SP you're going to get for that month.
Dust 514 is F2P. The money here is derived form people spending money to buy AUR to buy weapons and mod side grades.
It's all about the money; for better or for worse. |

With an EVE skill system you can. Not to mention that with the way skills work you're never more than a few months away from max skills for the fit you're using. An eve player who's been playing for six months can fly a Rifter just as well as a veteran of ten years. Neither one of them can one-shot anything.
It'll be the same way. You can have mostly max skills for your assault suit within six months and from there you just start developing other skills. Y'know, learning new weapons, adding on vehicles or equipment, what-have-you. But you're just as competitive as anyone in that first suit by the six-month mark. Pretty close to it well before then. |

Active SP has diminishing returns, meaning you get reduced SP as you play for longer periods of time.
Active SP has a weekly cap (I think someone said CCP are considering making this a daily cap), after which you get NO active SP earnings.
Passive SP gives you a decent amount for doing NOTHING AT ALL. Not a thing. Create character, don't play, wait a few weeks, and when you come back, there will be a nice pile of SP for you to spend.
There IS an EVE-like system in place. There's just a more FPS-console-ADHD-kiddie-friendly supplement to it.
And yes, that does mean I'm accusing myself of being an ADHD console kiddie. Problem? |

You would never catch up to them based on the total SP amount but everyone is limited to lvl 5. When a veteran with a plenty million SP and a rookie with a few millions are running the same fitting and both have maxed out all skills affecting that fitting they are equal. It doesnt matter how many SP you have at all because only a small part of has an effect on your fitting and this part can be catched up easily. |

Oh well both Eve and Dust have a level 5 restriction, sooooooo what was your point again? You gain Points even if you totally suck, even if you do not play at all (whereas in EVE you have to actively queue stuff. No happy "login on release then wait a year and return for SP 'dominance' " as in Dust514). You only have 5 levels to level in both games to gain access to the best fittings (except some "special" things which appears in both games). You can speed up the skilling process by actively playing Dust, but you can not gain more than a certain amount of extra SP per week. |

FFS said this a million times what works for EVE wont always translate well to a FPS this will not work the **** u talkin here would still happen with EVEs system but instead of "hey i play more than u" it turns into "hey i started the game on day 1 enjoy being stuck behind me forever"
the problem is worse with EVE's system as there is NO way for a late joiner to ever close the gap.
this is also a FPS please learn your audience. Dont mean to come off rude but this is the 100000000000th time ive seen this request from EVE players and it clearly shows me they dont know how the FPS/console community works.
Ppl like to feel rewarded for actually playing, one of the reasons the playerbase is so low atm is because CCP implemented a weekly, very low, SP cap. Casuals and Hardcore now like to play and feel they are rewarded for their time. Unlocking the next new shiny gun or gear is what most FPS gamers sadly play for these days so u take away the reward for playing u take away the console crowd. |
