From wat I understand this video was of a mock up game of how it might look and feel. Basically a prototype of an alpha. Kinda sad they didn't keep this tho I really like the AR and rocket launcher, and the lav with the giant epeen on the back is hilarious, I think the mcc and installations take the cake though |

As I understand it the carbon and eve engine were modified in first attempt at fps, and the gun game was really bad where it was simpler to start over on existing fps engine then fix it.
I think the world of darkness team are working on that engine, and on back burner till dust is out. Once dust is out, and then world of darkness is out, the next thing will probably be to switch eve(in station parts only probably) and dust to the engine world of darkness uses. It will probably be well after ps4 before we are on that engine again.
I understand fighters will be in one of the first two expansions, so launch +1 year or so to see vtol fighter. |

watch it again, they are playing it live on stage, one team is eve players, the other team is devs
but yes it was just a prototype, made in unity if I remember correctly. |

Honestly that video got me very interested in DUST and since then i forgot about it, its showed somuch potential on that engine but then they decided to go with the unreal engine hopefully they can mess around with it to deliver that scale of battle or maybe when it moves to PS4 it could be implemented with carbon . |

As a long time Eve player since 2007, I remember Carbon is the in house game architecture used currently for Eve Online and was also the architecture used partly for DUST during the 2009 keynote at Fanfest. The gameplay was much smoother back then under that architecture. The problem is that the architecture was brand new at the time and was extremely advanced for a console to handle. It made much more sense to simply redo DUST using the unreal engine rather than waste time tweaking Carbon for console use. Once console technology improves, we might finally see Carbon in action. Until then, we're stuck with Unreal. |

According to some players here who have been around at the time of the jets, those jets were seen as wicked fast and often spent more time on the red zone than in the safe areas. Because of their speed they were limited to fly by attack roles against tanks and against drop ships. |

That doesn't necessarily mean anything for future builds though. I was suggesting a possibility for non-jet Fighters to be introduced, rather than bringing back the jets in their previous form. We don't know they're going to run with what they've tried in the past, do we? |

2nd not only will me and other top guns of ace combat beta test the jets we and we will tell ccp what control set ups were looking for for the jets as any good FS player will tell you its the control setup that make or brake a FS game .... put it this way its not like the controls for a tank or a drop ship or even close to the set up of any 2D combat control set... you need a set up that lets you control the jet from each side of the controller . roll and pich should be on one stick and look or yaw should be on the other note NEVER PUT the accelerating and decelerating controls on the the sticks L3 or R3 .
this may seem like a good idea but this dims up dog fighting to who can fire 1st and who has more ammo. not only that but it takes a way skill from skilled players and if you played Snoopy flying aces you know it can all so over power the jet.
the best spot for the accelerate and decelerate is L1 and R1 the yaw can all so be added to L2 and R2 here,s a ace combat 5 control set up

Yeah the map was a lot bigger. The mccs needed to move around. Artillery looked like it placed a role. Dust needs these things at some point. I was really hoping for a world of tanks style long range attack. |

I'm sure they had a good reason to switch engines....I just wish they kept the original weapon designs. After seeing this though, I cant wait to see what the finished product of the current DUST514 will be like and all the additional content in the next update. |

as you may like to know i all so support raw skill FS games like Over G
Too: CCP DO NOT ADD **** COMBOW flying like hit down on the d pad to do a split S or upx2 on the d pad to do a Immelmann
Remember FS players Love skill and adding **** like combow flying takes a way skill from the game and can turn the jets into over power mass killers that cant be shoot down or dogged down ! Let the player have to work with what jet he is in and his owe skills at flying.
unlike a FPS as i said be for up top a FS takes relies 95% on the players own true skill at flying then the game it self . adding game support to one group of players can out rite kill the game for everyone else. like the Ace combat 7 game namco lost alot of its fan for ace combat game when hey added dogfight support to make lesser skilled players buy there game. in the end this drove a lot of its fan base away form buying it and still the new players that namco wanted dint want to play a FS ( because a FS is just like eve online its a group of gamers who want skill over fun ) this is why no madder what do add in support for flying jets your just going to mess the game up for you and the real players WHO ARE INTO FLYING JETS !
and ill say it one more time FS (flight simulator) are games in witch players raw FS skill should all ways fly the jet/plane . ALL WAYS NO SUPPORT WHAT SO EVER ! |

If they did implement jets, what would take them down? Definitely not swarm launchers as they barely catch dropships and jets would be a lot faster. If they made swarm launchers fast enough to catch jets, then dropships would become irrelevant as they would be constantly blown out of the sky. That's one reason I do not envy CCP because for every new piece of content, the content has to balance with everything else including a counter or else the overall gameplay would be broken. |

Jets, if they show up, won't do so until more effective anti-air countermeasures exist.
Flak turrets or some equivalent weapon that's useful against high-mobility airborne enemies.
And it's entirely possible that jets in that form WON'T be part of the game, and that we'll only get a Gunship type vehicle with handling similar to Dropships. Taking into account many aspects of the current state of the game, I think that would be a better solution. |

The overall speed of the fighter jets might make them powerful against dropships and tanks, but their overall speed is also their Achilles heel. When they were introduced they were so fast that often they would zoom into the red zone. But that's not the biggest downside with their speed. They won't have any time to target infantry let alone figure out where every enemy merc is before they fly by too fast and zoom past their targets without hitting any of them. This is why they are seen as nothing more than straffing platforms meant to kill just dropships and tanks. They may be able to hover, but that will only leave them exposed as the jets are expected to have minimal armor and shields in favor of high-speed fly bys. |

That would be extremely interesting if they allow for water vehicles somewhere in the future. Maybe small boats we can use to traverse water and get to another area? Lol. The fact that you can't swim also makes it interesting...You'd die from falling off immediately.

I put up a thread about this a few weeks back with some idea that Grit_Breather and I came up with. The general idea is to allow "jet" aircraft to have free reign of the entire district instead of just a single battlefield.
