Here's an idea. If DUST can connect to the EVE servers and interact with the PC players as well, could CCP feasibly bring out an EVE Client for us console gamers? Because that would be awesome. I considered paying for a subscription to EVE after I tried that 20 day demo thing, I loved it, but I thought "hey I already spend far too much time on my PS3 I cant put the time in to it" so I decided not to.
Your thoughts people!
And if the devs would like to give us an answer on possible/not possible lol |

EVE is probably not the kind of game more than a handful of PS3 gamers would tolerate. Even amongst PC gamers it has quite the notorious learning curve. I'm not sure the PS3 port would be worth the effort. |

You may be right. I just thought it would be an interesting concept. A lot of my friends play EVE but also have PS3's, ill have to ask them if they would play it on their consoles. |

I think that would go against CCP's inttention. They wanted to bridge the gap between a PC game and a PS3 game through two completely different games that share the same universe. The reverse of your request could also be taken as "Hey why not have DUST on the PC." But then you have players in DUST using controllers trying to compete with players using Mouse and keyboard not to mention different computer specs. They could seperate the players from each other but that would only breed segragation amoungst Corporation Recruits.
In short, i'm sure CCP could build an EVE client that would run on the PS3 but i doubt they would given what their goal for DUST 514 is.
Keep the faith. |

Your comment about players using different methods to control the game? We already have that on dust, they added Kb/m support so we already have people using pads and keyboards. |

Why's that? If its possible it would only affect you if you played it, and by the sounds of things you wouldn't play it so it wouldn't affect you. |

There are a large group of people that want Dust 514 on PC just because of the fact people don't want to have to buy a PS3 to get one shooter, funny how u jump to saying it wouldn't affect me and I would not play it, love to see were u get ur info from. |

A basic interface would be nice, with chat, access to skills and the market, and other "upkeep" things. Outside of a station, however, should be left to the PC.
Conversely, I would love to have a real-time Dust interface client on my PC (skills, market, etc.), particularly with access to a overhead real-time map, chat, and commands. |

All good I have done the same a million times. Eve would not work very well on a PS3 sadly, but the fact u can use keybaord and mouse on ur PS3 would open doors for Dust 514 been on a PC. and I know people want it on a PC because some can't pay for a PS3. |

Not gonna work. For starters, the graphics are so demanding that a PS3 is way behind in terms of handling it. |

then don't make it demanding on the PC, don't see how it can't work, and there are graphic settings for a reason. |

I'd be happy with a load out via browser plug-in. Also add an area where you can build out using your skills to set paths, calculate skill points and the time required to achieve that path and see the dmg/mods...etc... after selecting it. Similar to WoW. (yes, I referenced WoW...admit it, y'all played it too!)
Actually...if you could road map your build tree, apply it in game and that way you can track your progress in game and you can see what is next and the route you're taking.
Doubt that would be implemented however, my ideas require way too much coding in such a short amount of time, but something down the road for the PS4.
The PS3 is not up to the task to our visions at the moment. We're putting the carriage before the horse. |

Pretty much every game can be ported to any platform and in those rare exceptions it's never about graphics. Graphics can be adjusted to level where the target platform doesn't struggle with them.
Now here are few valid reasons why bringing EVE to HD-Consoles would be more trouble than worth: - Consoles Require support for SD resolution (PAL/NTSC). - Menu navigation needs to work with the default controller (Sixaxis / Dualshock). - PSN related restrictions, rules and requirements.
First two would pretty much require a complete redesign of eve menus and huds, which look fairly complicated. Not something you can just do if the game has been around for what? 10 years?
still porting EVE to consoles wouldn't be impossible, nothing is. It's just not worth the time, effort and money. CCP made the right choice to make a completely new game around the theme which is designed to work on console(s). You can except far better results this way, even if Dust 514 won't become the greatest thing since sliced bread. |

plus why bother? it's a waste of time and effort. paying people just to convert everything to the console is a waste of resources better used to help EVE and dust developers.
they are already taking a huge gamble with this console game. |

I use to play eve on a 1.6gh netbook, with two accounts open. Before that there was a eve classic client that had worse graphics. The controller would work, all you would need is x and o to select and left stick to move curser, clicking test field would open up the same typing interface as every other ps3 game. The overviews and menus would just have to have a font size change to be readable. Most of the time in large battles I was zoomed out to better judge distances so ships were icons instead of models anyway.
I stopped playing Eve when I had computer troubles, i would have kept going if a ps3 client was available, and I know people that would play dust if it was on pc but don't have a ps3. Porting either is not going to happen in near future, so it will be more a question of can ps4 run a eve client. Five or six years from now who knows? |

There's probably no technical limitation to porting the client, with some very reduced graphics and limits to the fleet battle sizes.
However it would be a KB+M thing and not very fun, basically wasted effort on a large project no one wants the result of. |

The mechanics of PSHome's ability to display avatars in environments could be suitable for walking in station applications - the war barge for example could be an analog or precursor for in station development. It would be unlikely Sony would authorize a full PS3 emulation on the PC but there may be other options to use the Home code within Eve. Although WIS is unpopular with many Eve players CCP is surely still looking at this (as avatar based interfaces are becoming the norm) and using someone elses work would save them time. |

If the PS3 could handle the client or a client then I can't see why it shouldn't be doable.
As others have mentioned though, EvE isn't the easiest game to understand or get into and I don't think the average CoD kiddy would tolerate it more than 2 mins.
It is however a game much more suited for a PC player base, but the tech is there to have it running I guess. Even if they ported a much much older version of the EvE client. I'm guessing the PS3 is far more powerful than the PC's that Eve was originally designed for. |

I think it has to do more with sony`s internet policy than the hardware of the PS3 because I have seen some amazing games over my time made about 10 years ago. They had more players, more interface, ability to mod, and less lag. I think once games stopped handing out mod tools and servers everything with to poop. Battlefield 2 as an example was released in June 21, 2005. It supported 128 players as i remember , 64 players, a orbital strike like function, a commander rts function, open world, and tanks and humvees.
this game required Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon XP equivalent 1 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 256 MB or ATi Radeon 9500 256 MB 3 GB of free hard disk space for Windows swap file and save data
I think game companies just got greedy and devs just got lazy on lifting the bench mark to satisfy game companies.
Yes Eve can be on the PS3 , because Final Fantasy 11 was on the PS2, but i dont think it will be a big hit though like Final Fantasy 11.
Another thing RPG`s are not passed the understanding of FPS players they just dont like or care about anything RPG. Or they would play RPG`s. That is why Mass Effect is so popular because all the lore is nice but not needed to work the game.

Publishers did get greedy.. Way too greedy, and developers are too scared to put them in their place, or tell them off when it's really needed. As a result; games and gamers a like have suffered from the industry and it's over inflated and bloated ego. |
