I'm disappointed in the overall instability and frequency of changes. No change should have been made in the first place, a lot of the time people are having to call out of work or prioritize based on specializations or strategies or vehicle piloting skills, etc -- so now people required for one battle may not be available for the one they would be needed for.
Aside of that it's really just poor in general to be making these kind of frequent changes.
In the future I hope that when tournaments or other types of events come up, CCP makes sure they figure out a proper, flowing schedule/brackets and sticks to it. |

Ok....
This tourney doesnt make sense at all. Time, then other times. opponents then other opponents then back to original opponents. Insane brackets that makes no sense at all.

Agreed Laurent. Badly run tournament. Even for a beta.
All they had to do was draw the teams properly, and not change the day/time just to suit people with nothing to do at weekends. Who live in America.
While I'm happy there is a tournament at all, I just think too much of CCP's time is being wasted on it. |

Hey folks,
We know that the tournament has gone through some changes and we understand that you would prefer a more stable process. For that we apologize and ask for your patience and support as we refine this process during beta and make future tournaments better.
In the interest of lessening the confusion around the tournament we will keep things as they are and continue with the a1 vs a2 scheme for the remainder of this tournament. In the future we will introduce better matching systems and improve the whole process. Thank you. |

Its all a bit bizarre. CCP have been running EVE tourneys for years and they generally seem to go quite well. No idea how this ended up such a mess. |

I think this is a very mature thing of CCP to do. Admitting a mistake and correcting it imidiately is a sign of good will and the ability and willingness to make things work. Thanks and thumbs up from me.
It is obviously wrong that the two leading corps from each bracket is to knock one of eachother out in the quarterfinals, its just bad form. |

That ROFL was taken away, were are back to living in Syn.
I am glad that CCP came out with an apology, glad you guys owned up. Even though this tourney has had a lot of "beta" moments, was very cool of CCP to actually hold this thing. Been in alot of betas and never had a company come through with a tournament(looking at you BF3).
One thing though...
Please tell me after this tournament the corporation battles will be going to 16v16? |

The way the 'mistake' had altered it would put A1 vs B1, from (what it has been reverted back to) A1 vs A2... but that 'mistake' was still an improvement.
What it should be is A1 vs B2 B1 vs A2... So the most correct way would of been us vs ROFL, Imp vs KEQ... but instead you revert back to the most mistaken way.
Eitherway, sure, the best EU corp and best US corp will probably meet the finals, but you really cant trust any of the rankings beyond that.
So we will know the #1 overall, the 2nd place being more like the #1 for their region, and given credit as being a highly effective team and possibly overall #2. Then there is no credibility for the rest of the order. |

In all honesty the brackets are correct now. You never do out of group play till u reach semifinals in anything. The reason it is an issue is b/c of the round r,obin play. If they simply increase the teams, 24 or 32 total, and do a pure elimination game till reach the quarter finals then everything would of worked like a proper bracket. |

A couple questions and answers.
1. Why didn't CCP seed the tournament 1-8 on each side?
A: They probably didn't know how to properly judge the corporations or even know whom some of them are.
2. Why didn't CCP follow a standard 16 tournament bracket?
A: They could have used the one and done Sweet 16 elimination tournament style. But they wanted to continue to test this feature with 16 people imo. Which is why they are dragging this thing out over a few weeks. I'm sure we will get a new build a week or so after tournament is over, fits the last few builds timeframe.
There was no way they were going to do a 24 or 32 team bracket. Some corporations are having problems fielding only 16 people. Which probably should have been taken into account before the tournament started (Yes Tritan/STB shoulda been in, different discussion).
The haphazard way this was thrown together makes it seem like it was a one hour meeting that was had on the subject and they thought this would be a good way to test more people in corp. battles in which they could observe. Not much thought put into the structure of it, only the data farmed from it.
Uneducated guess from an educated noob. |
