Update on this issue.
We have tested and tested this. Basically, when both of us are on DUST in kills comms for us and anyone in our squad (player made or not). With our mics on or off, it doesn't matter. Basically when you have 2 systems in the same house on DUST it kills comms.
I don't know what to do. |

I have a similar problem, it started last Friday (11/2/2012). My voice chat worked fine in all respects up until that day. Now however I cannot be heard by anyone over voice chat. All other features of the chat remain fully functional but my mic no longer transmits.
I have tested this multiple times over the weekend with two mics (both less than a week old and each of differing brands) and the results remain constant. I am also only using a single PS3 and altered none of my settings (in Dust, on my PS3, or on my network at large) between when it was fully functional and when it ceased to function properly.

Bulking up the topic with the same issue here. I've tried the Astro Mixamp, the bluetooth Wireless Headset, the Playstation EYE, unplugging the Playstation EYE, standing on my head, spinning on the spot, and coughing while holding my sack, and the best I've ever managed to get is hearing one or two people talk (mostly to themselves) during a match and having the white voice chat bubble on-screen, but with no ability to broadcast myself. Tried it in a squad. Tried it outside a squad. Tried pushing to talk. And not pushing to talk. You get the idea.
And yes, all of these things work fine in every other PS3 game. Even Everybody's Golf, which (up to now) had the most dysfunctional voice chat system of any living PS3 game. |

Years ago, I had similar problems with Starwars Battlefront. With two or more PS2's only 1 could have voice chat.
The problem turned out to be with NAT (Network Access Table) and a single IP address. We ended up asking the ISP for a block of IP addresses and putting a simple switch after the modem. We then gave each PS2 it's own IP (NOT 192.168.xxx.xxx) and it worked fine.
I no longer have anyone else sharing my network so I can't test this out anymore. But it might be interesting for CCP (or anyone) to test out a home LAN party type connection. (a bunch of PS3's with 192.168.xxx.xxx sharing the same external IP)
You might also want to make up a truth table to submit to the Devs.
Sample:
PS3 1 connected (wired) / PS3 2 not connected = PS3 1 comms work
PS3 1 connected (wired) / PS3 2 connected (wireless) = PS3 1 comms work, PS3 2 comms silent
PS3 1 not connected / PS3 2 connected (wireless) = PS3 2 comms work
PS3 1 connected (wireless) / PS3 2 connected (wireless) = Neither comms work
Etc.
Etc.
Etc...
If you see a pattern, it might point to your router not being able to handle the NAT routing properly. See if you can tap off before the router or try switching to a different router. If it happens with different routers, it points to a problem with the game not seeing different consoles behind a single IP. |

from your ps3 if you do a network test it will reveal a NAT Type. there are 3:
Type 1: The PS3 is sitting directly on the Internet with a public IP address. This setup doesnGÇÖt require NAT or inbound port forwarding and is used in scenarios where the PS3 is the only device wanting to use the Internet connection. This isnGÇÖt that common as most users share their Internet connection with other devices in their home.
Type 2: This is the most common and ideal type where the PS3 is sitting behind a RG that is performing NAT. The PS3 will have a private IP address which is translated to a private or public IP address by the RG.
Type 3: This usually implies you have a problem in the way the PS3 is accessing the Internet. This may be caused by a firewall or port restrictions. This isnGÇÖt ideal and will result in a sub-optimal gaming experience.

if you do have Type 3 then you're SOL |

To add more data points.
My version of the issue is occurring on a PS3 that reads as Type 2 as per the above post. Also UPnP is disabled (reads as N/A on the PS3 network test). |

I installed a PS3 update today and now all voice functions are working fully again. I'm not sure what this tells us but it's more information.

Hmmmm. I will need to install that update. I did some port forwarding stuff last night. I didn't really have anybody that I could communicate with so I couldn't really test it. I did get lag though. I don't understand. How often does lag occur for everybody? Mine seems to happen right when I am going to shoot as somebody. With all that said, I didn't notice any difference with port forwarding. Although, I could of done it wrong too. I'm starting to think that my router blows. I just never thought that a router made a difference. Can anybody confim this for me, and if it does suggest the best router's for me? I may go buy a new one today. |

What about this one? http://wireless-router-review.toptenreviews.com/premium-wireless-routers/netgear-wndr3700-rangemax-review.html
And....before I go buy one.......does everyone think that this will make a difference compared to my other router. Here is what my other router is. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2343198,00.asp |

FYI all, I replaced my Belkin router with a Netgear router and all of my comms issues have disappeared. Go figure huh? |
