Hello all,
Dev's, I have a question. My wife's PS3 is connected to our wireless N+ router with a 100% signal strength. But everytime she gets on to DUST her mic will not work. It works with any other game just fine, just not DUST.
Can you please explain to me why and what I can do to resolve this issue besides not using a mic and/or running an eathernet cable 100 feet across my house.
Thank you and have a great day. |

Lol. Yes sir. We sure do. We have it disabled on our other PS3 that I play DUST on. But thank you though. |

We sure do. We have it disabled on our other PS3 that I play DUST on. But thank you though. Here's what I'd do, take the time and give us ALL the information and or e-mail it to DUST. Sounds like it's a networking the VoiP issue you're dealing with and if you're new to networking, it would be better to have them walk you through it. Are you running BOTH PS3's at the same time? Both wired? 1 wired 1 wireless? etc... Those are things we need to know in order to direct you properly. But it almost sounds like you need to open some ports and put your PS3's in the DMZ.
I have one system that is wired to my router and one system that is wireless. I have tried this even with the wired PS3 off. The mic is a bluetooth mic.
Now, keep in mind, we can play BF3 and MOH and every other game with the same setup and both PS3's on, and bluetooth mics on both systems and everything works just fine. I only have this issue with DUST514.
As stated earlier I have 16meg cable internet. One headset is a bluetooth and the other is a bluetooth(I believe) sony headset with the dingle berry thingy mabob. We are both using DS3 controllers.
Like I said this issue only arises when we play DUST together. |

I know we may not solve this (then again we may) but I'm still thinking it's a wireless port issue for VoiP. Yes...VoiP is a pain in the kitten because of pipe that is needed to run it, and I have limited VoiP networking experience...BUT...hell this is how you learn :) So if y'all do have the time, what model router / headset / etc...are you using? Go to speedtest.net and test your speed 5 x's and pull an avg and post them as well? Specific details on the equipment would be greatly appreciated. I know other games work fine, but also realize all games have their own dedicated porting. Which is why you're always seeing some players with issues and some without. (if that's too much to ask I'll bugger off, but I'm really interested now) I run a wired 7.1 Triton. Never wanted to mess with the wireless because of the issues and never run my consoles on wireless because of the issues. Which as me wanting to do some self teaching.
Okay, I have a Belkin N+ wireless router model # F5D8235-4V1
My speed test results are 24.87 Download and 3.62 Upload. This was done on my wireless computer. My bluetooth head set is a Logitech Cordless Vantage headset for the PS3. The other one is the Sony 7.1 wireless headset for the PS3. You know, the one with the dingle berry (dongle), Lol.
You know, one other thing I didn't mention is when my wife gets on DUST and joins our squad, she kills comms for the whole squad not just for her and I.
Well that's all the info I know what to get. Let me know if you have any ideas. I love problems like this but I do enough of it at work and when I get home I just want to game. LOL. Not really, I mean I do but I barely have anytime to game as it is. Lol.

Quick question,
Could my UPnP being disabled have anything to do with this issue...
Reason why I ask is because I have hooked up my wife's ps3 hard wired to the router and I am still having the same issue. It's really wierd. Now, she can be on and in a squad. When I connect to the DUST servers with or without a mic, she loses comms. I quit DUST and she gets comms back. I have no idea whats going on. |

FYI, we just tested our mic's out with BF3 and we had absolutley no issues. So this has to be something with DUST. Anyone have an ideas? |

You know what...was talking to a guy the other day who had mic issues...and here's what he did... Look for any other devices you may have installed on the PS3. He had an old bluetooth device installed on his pc and when he uninstalled it he no longer had mic issues. So there could be a driver conflict on the PS3 with devices. I'd check that out and uninstall IF you have anything left over. You know as well as I do there are things we cannot explain, so why this worked for him and it may not for others...not sure. But it's worth a shot.
I didn't have anything, just my headset. |

It's on and all it really did was help my wife actually join a squad and play together. With no mic's though. It's funny, it showed hers working fine and mine working fine (going green and then back to grey and green and etc...) but we could not hear each other and we couldn't see if anybody else could hear us or we could hear them cause none of our friends were online at that time.
I'm thinking on conacting DUST directly. |

Update on this issue.
We have tested and tested this. Basically, when both of us are on DUST in kills comms for us and anyone in our squad (player made or not). With our mics on or off, it doesn't matter. Basically when you have 2 systems in the same house on DUST it kills comms.
I don't know what to do. |

Hmmmm. I will need to install that update. I did some port forwarding stuff last night. I didn't really have anybody that I could communicate with so I couldn't really test it. I did get lag though. I don't understand. How often does lag occur for everybody? Mine seems to happen right when I am going to shoot as somebody. With all that said, I didn't notice any difference with port forwarding. Although, I could of done it wrong too. I'm starting to think that my router blows. I just never thought that a router made a difference. Can anybody confim this for me, and if it does suggest the best router's for me? I may go buy a new one today. |

What about this one? http://wireless-router-review.toptenreviews.com/premium-wireless-routers/netgear-wndr3700-rangemax-review.html
And....before I go buy one.......does everyone think that this will make a difference compared to my other router. Here is what my other router is. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2343198,00.asp |

FYI all, I replaced my Belkin router with a Netgear router and all of my comms issues have disappeared. Go figure huh? |
