I was back when strafe wasn't like going through 2 feet of snow, the trick is to not only carry the regular gun but also aim for the largest mass on your enemy as there's a better hit chance |

As much as I hate to admit it, probably.
I maintain that anytime I kill someone with my forge gun it was in fact swamp gas what had refracted off of Venus.

Exactly. Where you hit them is irrelevant with a forge gun, so aim for center mass and let it rip.
From my personal experience going maybe 50/50 with it seems to be what is expected. Plus a few more times splash damage takes a monster chunk out of their health. I'm sure there are people better at it than me but I do not believe you're going to ever reliably hit infantry with it. I try to only take shots at people with it when I'm not going to die if I miss or if I already have a charge stored when they run up on me. I always carry a pistol for keeping myself alive. |

You see young heavy, I killed with it back when hit detection was bad and strafe was good, when it took a steady hand and good foresight. Like I said, splash damage kills are for the down trodden and aimless. So are you gonna be one of those or are you gonna make me proud fatman! |

So going 50/50 on my anti-infantry shots is bad? I'm not hitting enough people with it?
Hmmmm, guess that means something else needs a nerf, maybe even several things...oh wait! No I'll just HTFU and make it happen. (Not for the OP)
For the OP, it just takes practice and honestly might be one of those things that some people are good at doing consistently and some people aren't. Like headshotting someone with a sniper rifle when they're mid jump (please keep bunny hopping everyone, your predictable jump arc amuses me to no end). |

its harsh to hit the enemy merc with the electric charge except tanks... crouching while aiming down the sight will reduce the sens a bit - that way it will be a bit easier to lock on the enemy to hitem hard with the kinetic slug. |

Lol, direct dmg with forge does require luck mate, it's not like you can pinpoint aim it... |

I can hit people with it pretty easily (as some of you have found out) I still use the original Forge as I find that it's more accurate when im crouching, plus i can move whilst im charging and the charge isnt too bad once you are up to level 3 or so.
You have to remember that you need to wait for the reticle to go orange!! If the reticle is still blue your not going to hit anything, snipers or anyone standing still aren't a problem, moving targets are harder I find moving with the target at range is easier than looking left and right for some reason.
It just takes practice, i've been using them on this character for a week or so and i still avg 5 or so kills a game, and plenty more if there is alot of vehicles. |

Me! I love forge gunning! Its so much fun! Blasting vehicles and shooting people in the face is fun!
The trick to forge gunning people is to NOT use any of the assault forge guns. The assault forge guns are charge and release immediately. Its like being with a *****. Use any of the forge guns that hold charge! Press the fire button and hold charge. When a red dot runs in front of you and the reticle turns red, release immediately! Instant bukaki!
Thats all folks! |

Success depends on the tactics and persistence in every area. To be a successive with 'Forge' weapons you have to play smartly. Try to minimize the disadvantages and maximize the advantages. I would not recommend anyone to spawn with the intention of killing only infantry, because HMG is more specialize in that. |

Ive done ok with killing mercs with the forge but i find myself much more adept at hitting armor and turrets. My absolute favorite thing to do as of late is wait until the enemies RDV is hovering just before it drops its LAV and BLAM... no more LAV. |

Ahhhhh yes....destroying LAVs before the get dropped. One of my favorite things as well.
For my 2 ISK,
I've found better success when you're at a higher elevation than what you're intended target is. Despite previous ego-stroking comments, splash is your friend here because the forge is intended to hit vehicles/installations not infantry (even though it can). I've direct-impacted people from considerable distances before albeit it's usually after a few shots.
Also, distance is your friend here as well, unless you're considerably close. I've been hit point-blank with a forge shot before Twas nasty |

Higher up than your enemy (Splash damage is a must) and when the reticule turns red does NOT mean he's a dead infantry, especially at longer ranges your shots will go either left or right, I only bring out the forge to take out tanks/installations/dropships(My favorite) and then if there's nothing else to shoot at, I'll take pop shots at snipers and infantry, as an Anti-Infantry weapon, this thing just doesn't cut it sorry to say. |

hehe, I remember my best non-vehicle Forge Gun shot. Came across a bunnyhopper in an assault suit, and he commenced to hip hop, hippa to da hippy hippy hip hip hop and ya don't stop while inaccurately spamming his assault rifle at me.
soon as his feet touched the ground from his third bunnyhop he disintegrated.
I guffawed for the rest of the match. |
