I understand that CCP wants players to be playing this game for YEARS to come, well they had better decrease the SP earning by a factor of 10 to get anywhere near that time span.
In just under 3 week since the new build, I already see Prototype weapon kills. That way they really could increase the latter SP earning so it feels less of a grind.
I half envisage everyone wearing militia gear for a year,.

Think about how much SP it takes to get to a Proto weapon, now think about how much SP's in two weeks you can earn. Can you get to Proto weapon, YES. But in order to do that, you pretty much sacrifice everything else, so while you may be able to attack better, just a few hits and you would die.
Remember CCP stated, its your avatar, you can do what you want with it. So these players went a glass cannon version.
Im sorry you envisioned wearing militia gear for a year, but thats just not the case. |

I can't get enough SP, on a good day a my earn about 12,000 SP per game bad day 7,000 SP. I have a few level 3 skills but its taking me ages to get the 178,000 SP for the next level.
In my opinion SP needs to be increased slightly. |

I know EVE SP and DUST SP aren't quite the same thing, but if we compare them an EVE toon earns about 2700 SP/hr, or 453,600 SP in a week. Less if they don't have the best implants and aren't mapped for the skills they're training.
Now, I'm pretty okay with that. After three years I can still fill up EVEMon plans, and I have lots of things I could be training, but I have a solid set of core skills trained and a couple of ships I can fly with more-or-less maxed skills.
Now, a DUST toon has an estimated max of 500k SP to be earned from matches per week. You also get something like 1 SP every five seconds, which comes out to 120,960 passive SP per week.
So the DUST player can advance noticeably faster than an EVE player, if they're able to play often enough to come close to the weekly cap. If you're like me and almost never play, you get jack for SP.

Yea, I'm going to assume the OP was trolling with this one. But I do kind of see his point. Maybe it's not that SP is too fast, honestly to me it seems like there just aren't enough skills to train. Although if they added a bunch more and then we had the same SP cap that would probably also be crappy. Hopefully they're planning to have more specific skills and less generic skills. AR skills, Sniper Rifle Skills, Pistol Skills and so on. But again, too many skills plus a low cap would also suck.
Bear in mind that's coming from an RPG background, not an FPS background. It might be a terrible idea. |

Getting Sp to do anything seems like a chore... its a great game, BUT im not having any fun having to run around in militia gear with a basic weapon for a month getting raped by the ass hats spending money on aur weapons to get advanced weapons that can level entire squads in one clip. I can have a great match get 30 kills have 3k+ War points and few deaths... and i only get 12k sp??? Really???? c'mon its not fun at that point |

I'm pretty sure that the sp gain right now is for the hardcore players to be able to test out the higher level parts of the game, so that they can quickly get to a suitable point to test out some of the more advanced areas of the game. |

Its a risky circle situation that CCP has created for us. Using AUR is imminent:
Spare money to complete your suit and weapon (skill much more important) first before spending money in to a expensive weapon which you can loose very fast - and buying a new one will let you play the game as long like playing for the first time only to buy another one. Absolutely wrong. Traky of example got proto weapon, Type II suit, shield management lvl 3 or 4. Grenade as well. You make it sound like the guy who plays with a duvolle at this time has skilled NOTHING else and it's wrong times infinite....

Wrong here too, not quite as high as this but have T-2 suit and level 4 mass, level 5 tomorrow after reset. So as far as I'm concerned it's still to fast, and I'll stick with what I feel despite the foul language from people.

Dont think so, but I will certainly have a look today, but it will be pure guess work as no one I ask seems to know exactly what the hard cap is, just its approx 450K a week.

In three weeks time I've unlocked:
Advanced level assault suits Prototype assault rifles with proficiency level 1 Shield operation to three First level shield adaptation First level mass driver operation First level power grid upgrades Prototype small missile turrets First level large missile turret First level caldari dropship First level caldari LAV
Of course I'm leaving out a bunch of smaller specifics but overall in three weeks I've got over 2.5 million SP.
I agree that the gain itself is too fast but I think instead of giving us less SP over a week just make some skills alter other skills to have higher SP requirements.
Let me explain: Say you start speccing into shields, that should increase the multiplier on armor for every one of its levels. So if both started at 1x skills then getting to level 1 in shields would make armor a 2x skill. And then from that point if you then bring armor up it'll make shield into a 2x for its level 2 requirement.
I think a system like that would further force people to specialize, especially if other skill sets then increase in investment. Generally people dislike seeing small rewards for matches. I can tell you from personal experience that seeing your skill booster wasting itself for 4 days as you look at 0 SP gain sucks. So if anything keep the gain as it is but make skills themselves somewhat higher. |

The OP is 100% correct that the skill point gain should be slowed farther.
CCP's last move in this direction, the weekly cap is great since it allows players who work to still keep up with the people who grind daily (thanks to being able to grind all weekend long). This is a major leveler of the playing field though it does still allow the skilled to get stronger relative to the unskilled (slow growth of their total SP versus people who do not hit the hard cap each week results in a definite advantage over time). My only issue with this is that we are still all gaining too much SP.
Ideally CCP should reduce the SP rewards to between 75% and 50% of their currently levels while reducing the hard cap by a similar amount. This would extend the lifetime of the game (without taking into account the new skills that CCP is sure to add). Yes I know that there are more skills being added to the final game but if you do the math (450k x 52 + 500k) this shows us that players who hit the hard cap each week will be gaining aproximately 23.9 million SP per year. This is more than enough to have skilled extremely deeply into almost every skill branch by the end of the year. Near the end of year 2 players with 47.8 million SP will have little to skill into, even if they build skills in every drop-suit type of every empire.
We need SLOWER SP growth CCP. Please! |

I completely agree with their not being enough skills to train. On the topic of the rest of this post, what Deadpool said. Some people choose to bundle all of their first week of sp into proto weapons, I took a different route being a logi and recognized how important it was for me to not die so i focused on tanking and fitting skills. I got my weapon up to a GEK and now that i think i have enough tank and fitting skills i'm going to focus on damage this week. Its all about what is important to the person.
