After using a move/sharpshooter for a few weeks, I finally tried using a regular ds3 controller for the first time for a day to compare.
Compared to using the sharpshooter, i was getting hits and kills about 5-10 times more. And this was happening while I was still trying to get used to the awkwardness of using a regular controller. . .
ie. the move system as implemented in Dust is very sub-par and unbalanced compared to the other input systems. I don't know if it is the general shakiness of using a move that makes the game think you are generating misses all the time, or something else wrong in the code, but using a direct-pointing input device should AT LEAST be as good as using an indirect control joystick, and atm it is not even close.
I'm not asking to change how the ds3 controller works, pls just improve how the move/sharpshooter works to get it at least in the ballpark of being competitive. At the moment you can have the sharpshooter dead on aim at anything, empty a clip and not get a single hit at ANY range, close mid or far on anything if it is moving. But it's easy to hit what you are aiming at with a ds3.
[EDIT] oh, and I should have added: If the intention was that if you had aim-assist ON in the settings, that it would also apply to the move/sharpshooter; then I can reliably report that it is NOT. In that case this is a bug report. |

BP: As for the PS3 noobiens out there: move/sharpshooter is a gimmick for familiy gamers, nothing more. can not believe there are ppl playing with it.
who has bought you this move thingys? (BP) was it in your ps3 bundle? |

FYI: not that you are wrong about it being a gimmick, because it most certainly is one:):) The glowing icecream cone is a desperate attempt to provide wiimote-like functionality for a ps3.
The sharpshooter is the opposite-- it is a shell for the stupid move controller that looks fantastic as well as providing custom buttons specifically for FPS' and is one of the VERY few gunshells cross-systems that doesn't look like a disgusting goofy cartoon toy.
Since you bring it up:), the sharpshooter is the ONLY reason i went out and purchased a ps3 and am playing dust right now [purchased on purpose with my own money, in separate pieces, at full price]. Specifically because the sharpshooter is the closest thing available on current consoles to a light-gun, for light-gun fanatics from the olden days, of which I am.
I tried it on the free killzone3 demo [i am only going to play dust on my ps3, and no other full games ever! i hate sony but grudgingly love CCP arg!]. . . the sharpshooter works PERFECTLY on killzone3 which gets me excited for the potential of it. But atm the same sharpshooter works HORRIBLY for dust-- it's not the instrument, it is the game code.
So to help sum this up for you:
Move: lame sony Gimmick, YES. Move/Sharpshooter: AWESOME for any PS3 shooter! . . . but not Dust:(

Only thing I'm confused about is why you would need aim assist with something that lets you adjust your cursor across the screen? The closest I've played to a control scheme of that type was Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and I certainly never felt like I needed that feature in that game, even when I just ran around without using the lock-on function just to see how well I could do without it. |

I think immersion game play is awesome. However after playing multiple shooters on the Wii with nun chuck controls, the only one that didnt butcher it was RE 4 which is legendary ofcourse.
Now I know thats a completely different system but lets face it the Wiis nun chuck control works for virtually all there good games except for shooters. The nun chuck was hailed as a great little movement based controller system, and I have yet to see it work well for any fps.
Im trying to make a point here that weather its Wii, Kinect, or Move, they all have a long way to go.
They need to make the move controller work before they start adding auto aim etc.
and right now it isnt. |

sharpshooter is awesome, but you can't hit much in dust. Just like the OP, I've emptied entire clips into people at medium to far distance and can't hit them at all. they eventually see me and kill me and I have no way of hitting back. but truth is, it's fun and seems more realistic holding my assault rifle and pointing at my enemies.
I hope they fix it. killzone 3, socom 4, and resistance 3 all do very well with the move controller.
I dont need aim assist. I just want to damage what's in my crosshairs. |

and please make it so that you can check your calibration before you go to battle. sucks finding out that your far off after you spawn in.
Move players are very handicapped right now, but they're playable if you just play for fun instead of trying to be competitive. |

I regret the move. It was terrible for MAG and for Dust... I will never look back at quitting it. It now collects dust in the corner of shame where all terrible games go to die. |
