As a dedicated heavy specd mostly into the Forge Gun I have noticed only one real issue with the forge guns. The accuracy.
Hitting a tank anywhere other than close range is not a guaranteed success. The crosshair for the forge is large enough that it covers all the tank, but is often misleading. The only indication that you have the tank in the crosshair is it turns red, but sometimes ive noticed it will be red but the shot misses. I am guessing this is due to the crosshair not being centered on the tank but just the edge being on it.
My thoughts on a way to make this a little more reliable for hitting is add a Forge Gun Accuracy skill, or add it to the Heavy Weapon Sharpshooter, but only make the accuracy bonus apply to the forge gun. Something along the line of 2-5% decrease in crosshair size per level would be perfect. It would help with hitting dropships as you would be more sure that the round is going where you are aiming.
I know this will be flamed and people will complain saying the forge gun is op already or that this will make the forge gun op, but i believe as a dedicated forge gunner I am obliged to say that the forge gun is balanced, just a bit misleading at range with the aim.
Any thoughts or suggestions about this are welcome

operation gives a 5% charge time reduction per level proficiency is 3% damage increase per level |

from what ive seen there is no skill for accuracy. just the ones for range, capacity, reload, and cpu usage.

to clarify: i am not saying forge guns are terribly inaccurate just misleading in the way the crosshair works. as kleaner said you can have a stationary vehicle and aim at it and the crosshair will be red, but the shot doesnt hit it. Shaking isnt the issue on a stationary target, the red crosshair is, since it is supposed to be red only when the center is over the vehicle, but currently it appears that once any part of the crosshair is touching the vehicle it turns it red, which leads to some misleading, inaccurate shots |

I was wondering, have you trained sharpshooting to any reasonable level and tried to compare how the shots land. If the deviation remains the same, but you can just shoot further, well, shots are going to be landing all over the place when trying to make use of the sharpshooting skill.
yea thats what im working on now..only have sharpshooter to level 2 but havent seen any difference in accuracy or range tbh.

I have to use it a lot when i drive a rail gun tank so since forge guns are just a stronger version of railguns i dont thinnk it would have any acception. perhaps this is one reason why you dont notice the forge guns god range that requires no skills at all to cross map a tank
actually i noticed a hard limit on range tryin to take out dropships. fire at the dropship and i watch the explosion happen in front of the dropship. |
