I'm really not interested in comms and it's a big turnoff for me at this point. I liked EVE a lot but chilling with the bros and the occasional gamer girl (who became a precious commodity) all the time while fleeting got pretty lame fast. I had a great corp full of friendly and funny guys but it was a bit much and got to be kindof 'ehhh' a lot of the time, especially fleeting with alliance. I didn't used to mind it when I was younger playing games like SOCOM on PS2 remember chilling with lots of cool e-friends, but I dropped back into CoD online recently - picked up black ops the SP was amazing but hadnt tried the MP - first thing I noticed was how annoying everyone on comms was. I much prefer comms that are easily accessable and standard within the game, ie Tribes, CS quick chat buttons, league of legends blue/yellow pings. I usually have music on if I'm playing CS or some game on the PC that allows mic broadcasts. I know using a mic allows for some degree of communication and planning but eh. I put it in an earlier post but the main comms i think this game needs is a button that will 'spot' enemy troops/vehicles for the team. |

If you're, in every way, not interested in comms... then please delete your account.
Thank you.
(People coming on to a team focused game and dont fancy comms? random bluedots will be random bluedots i suppose)
As for OP, I do fancy the idea of proxy chat, trash talking builds the competitive end of things and does increase the fun of it. But im not much of a trash talker personally, so that does not particularly tickle my fancy, i just acknowledge certain social facts that go along with proxy.
I do think it deepens gameplay though, so proxychat would be a nice addition

Delete my account? Please kid. I'm probably better than anyone in your corp. I don't plan on using a headset once.
Capable players dont need comms to play games like this. Ingame chat functions would be enough if they existed - a button that pointed out enemies like in TRIBES or BF as an example again (they really should add this)
This isnt EVE where youre calling out names on an overview to target, most stuff is common sense

So much fail in this post that its honestly shocking...
First, no, dont even, not for a second, think your better then most the players in my corp. I havnt seen your UbEr SkILLZ, but assuming your half decent... so what? whats 1 little dot against an organized squad?
"OH WELL OBVIOUSLY I CANT FACE 4 OF YOU!" ( 1v1 you probably wouldnt be better then most with a perception like that im sure)
Then you hit the nail on the head of what i was saying... its a team game, you can function as an individual and be a pubstar all you want, that dont mean ****. When you get a team working in synergy (not trying to boost corp name here, thats just the proper word to use) then you reach a level of fluidity and skill thats unattainable as an individual.
You are the epitome of what people mean when they call people a 'CoD player', they mean pubstars. Pubstars, (a pub being a random game, not organized competitive matches which are harder) just fight unorganized randoms and think they are top stuff. You are not top stuff, you are the top film on a layer of mold, thats all.
Edit: I stopped scanning for your name when i hit 2.00 on k/d, so even in the pubstar k/d mindset your not that good. I gave you way too much credit. |

Local right now is not able to be used for smack talk but thats since we're stuck in a single local chat.
When it comes to release we should be able to move to different locals so that the team we are facing are also in local and then can come "gf" from EVE and Dust, cause you know dem fleets and armies gonna be working together by then
But not really important feature imo. |

Well uh actually I used to play CS on the PC for money and I used comms then but I've outgrown it and don't like it anymore, i just play in pubs for fun and the comms never really did anything during the play anyways - good players were aware of what was happening, we had set plays we would run, comms were mainly for calling plays and targets - you dont do that in DUST. and I used to play CoD:WaW on gamebattles ranked.. so.. (plus, black ops was an amazing single player game, i liked the series from COD1 but the MW lost me - WaW and Black ops were probably 2 of the best games for me in the last decade though, liked black ops SP a looooot and WaW had great MP)
I am probably the best DUST player ever
And I wont use comms
Get mad?
Also my EVE records are probably the best |

Not mad, you've just revealed yourself a troll. Troll me once, shame on you, troll me twice..
I actually agree CoD is competitive, but people use CoD to describe pubstars, not the competitive end of it, like you. |

I thought that proxy would be good, but it just breeds way too much animosity in a game that probably won't need it. Like someone else said,if you need to trash talk your enemy, invite them to a separate channel for that. You'd be very surprised how many have mics actually. you don't hear them or come into contact because the comms set up in this game is truly one of the worst I've come across in an FPS. If you or anyone else ever played MAG you would know what excellent comms set up can do for a game. If you haven't, go play it and see for yourself. Then you'll be talking from experience rather than guessing.
I played MAG for over two years and you're right, the comms set up was second to none, but this ain't MAG,and while I do feel like Dust should have more structure with the team leaders like MAG does, adding proxy wouldn't do anything to improve the game.
One thing that MAG didn't do that Dust does is actually give you the opportunity to communicate with the whole team BEFORE the match even starts. If only people would switch to TEAM CHAT,then many of the complaints about the comms in Dust would be suppressed.I understand proxy for your own team, but it's not necessary with the team chat function.
Besides all that, this beta has enough problems as it is,and people want to throw another thing into that mix to do god knows what?Let them fix the hit detection and the framerate issues before they start trying to add anything new.

There are lots of reasons how it would improve the game. FUN being a major one, something sorely lacking in this game. |

If it were a "game",it might be more fun,but since it's a BETA,I would say that we are still testing things out to help make it more fun for when it becomes and actual game.

Proxy chat would make the game more interesting for sure. It would also be interesting if you there were modules that "encrypted your comms" so the enemy couldn't hear what you're saying. |
