Seriously? I was considering joining, but there's no way I'll throw my lot in with a corporation of people I don't know who might, through no action of my own, get both my DUST and EVE accounts banned.
I would never cheat myself, but this punishment can apply to me in cases where I do not cheat and have no knowledge of cheating.
Any chance this punishment could be changed to be fair and reasonable? |

And another case: let's suppose I was on a team and learn of cheating. Should I report it and risk getting my dust and eve accounts banned, or be quiet and hope they get away with it so I don't get banned? |

Well I know that the repair vehicle thing is cheating but what are other things are people doing?
How can you find out if people are using these things? So you won't be affiliated with them? |

This is now something to be afraid of. Say a guy joined a corp with an alt as a spy or just an A** hat he now has the power to get everyone on that team banned?
I can see corps now paying guys like this to have whole teams banned. Seems like a lot of power to one individual to ruin it for everyone. |

I seriously would not call the vehicle repair boosting cheating. That was exploiting a game mechanic to farm points. That is what players do in games. If you can do it using existing game mechanics it is not cheating.
Cheating would be using modified controllers to change a weapon's programed rate of fire, scripts, modifying your save file to give your character infinite armor, stuff like that. None of which is very prevalent on the PS 3.
Losing a battle on purpose is not cheating. Look at old fanfest videos and you will see that this sort of thing is encouraged. Game would be entirely out of keeping with EVE if there were no scheming to double cross, no corporations trying to outbid mercs to gain advantage in battles, no broken promises, and so on.
Edit* And since this is only for the tournament, and a BETA tournament, what would be the point of cheating? Exploit on the other hand is sort of a gray area. What would constitute an exploit in a tournament? Crashing an LAV to repair it would not get you a win. |

Whatever we all know that Stylie is a cheating cheater noob. I have seen him sitting on the highest point of a map twirling in circles headshotting everyone with one bullet. He even TKed a guy with FF off that just how much of a cheater he is.

Ban all players on the team? a little draconian? maybe, hmmm?
Here's some other ideas you may like:
1. Every tenth account from both games shall be banned without regard to culpability. (Nothing like an old fashion decimation) 2. We shall flood New Eden with 40 days and night of rain......errrr, radiation. None shall be spared -such has their wickedness become. 3. We shall burn their toons at the stake. Their assets shall be seized and the total value split between CCP and those that report the cheaters (what could possibly go wrong).
Good luck enforcing this (and good luck recruiting) I'm sure there will be no blowback whatsoever from the fanbase or the blogosphere. |

Nevertheless, the risk is not worth it for the lack of certainty without any promise from CCP. My EVE accounts are each worth FAR more than the best rewards in this tournament.
"Szchu" wrote:If you don't know the team I doubt you'd win, so why enter?
I don't play games just to win. I play for the fun of the battle too. In fact, a game where my team wins by a huge margin is usually much less enjoyable than a close game that I lose.
But with the severity of the punishment for actions I had no part in, there is simply no point in joining. |

Good luck enforcing this (and good luck recruiting) I'm sure there will be no blowback whatsoever from the fanbase or the blogosphere. Oooor they're taking the first official corporation tourney in Dust514 seriously and awarding the winning corporation with a large financial edge that may encourage cheating and they're doing what they can to completely eliminate any possibility of it...particularly since the grand prize is something that looks like it might carry a tremendous edge into the actual game once we have our final wipe before moving out of beta:
CCP Cmdr Wang wrote:

I agree. As it is right now. Given the great punishment incurred (collective culpability is what this is), it is not worth the risk. |

i think the punishment fits the crime but then you only join a corp you have chemistry with in the first place.
if it came down to it and "1guy" got all you banned i assume its able to be petitioned. |

I don't. It essentially means I won't even consider playing in the tournament.
Quote:if it came down to it and "1guy" got all you banned i assume its able to be petitioned.
Who knows? Maybe it is petitionable. But the rule as written gives no indication, and I'm not going to risk something of far greater for a very unlikely chance of something of much lesser value. |

Exactly, and if you don't know your team your going with in the corporation match, then you are probably going to lose anyway LOL. You need to know each and every member of the gang you're taking in otherwise it's going to be chaos..
I would tell the guys who you are playing with to not cheat, and make sure you don't bring in randoms LOL they are very .unpredictable |

I don't play EvE but wtf would you ban an EvE player because of Dust actions? there's no link between your psn & eve. I'ma call cheat on everyone. Because there's no punishment for that. I heard sportsmanship & ebushido are out.... |

there's an exploit they would rather you not know about that's all im going to say. there is a link, i'll let you work out where, that lightbulb might light for a lot of people when they read this work it out and attribute it to PS3 hardlocks.
p.s why these EvE players are not already banned I don't know. and goons never did have sportsmanship. |
