These are the only BPOS worth spending any AUR on;-
Valor Scout dropsuit - Available in the market and part of the MAG special edition Raven Assault dropsuit - Part of the MAG special edition SVER Logstics dropsuit - Part of the MAG special edition Dragonfly Scout dropsuit - Part of the Merc Pack Skinweave Heavy dropsuit - Not available anymore. Part of weekend giveaway Toxin submachine gun - Part of the Merc Pack
The rest are absolutely worthless imho! When the market opens, these are the ones you want to get as they will help you down the long run. |

There are multiple people who bought multiple merc packs during various promotions. This creates duplicates of the items I have listed above which they may or may not put on sale once the market opens. FYI! |

Militia BPO's for Aur means you always have a customizable "free" fit.

Yeah. The BPO drop suits, especially the ones with standard suit stats are way OP because they are free. |

True but the CPU and PG usage on them are high. All the dropsuits I mentioned above except for the Skinweave heavy are essentially Tier 1. They have all round better performance than your standard militia stuff. That means you can get more modules in there as compared to a militia dropsuit BPO. |

With the 'new' character reset, it's obvious those Skinweaves are quite useful, assuming people managed to get them. The Skinweave Heavy is the only way to get in a heavy for many days after reset unless you picked that specialty, as it requires no skills to get into whereas the 'normal' version requires you to pick it or save up 800,000 ISK (!) for the skill book. The other Skinweaves are the same in this, as you can use them unskilled, and since the Militia Suit BPO's went away, people are pretty much forced into their basic setup.
I find the Valor suit to be sub-par. To get it, you had to get the Merc Pack at a certain time. The Merc Pack comes with the Dragonfly, which has the same stats, looks better, and has LESS (which is to say: no) skill requirements. It should have been a Heavy suit. |

They need to do away with BPOs, make the BPO dropsuits into dropsuit skins you can apply to appropriate dropsuit types, and move toward providing players with customization options for AUR rather than items they can use in games for AUR. Their entire schtick for this game is the idea of everything having a cost, about caring about your deaths no matter what because it all costs money, and so on. BPOs contravene this. Starter fits are as far as it should go. Couple basic starter fits, and everything else you need to pay for.
Bottom line is that people aren't going to spend AUR on weapons. A weapon that's a bit different or has a bit lower PG/CPU isn't worth spending money on. People do it in the beta because it all gets reimbursed with the resets, but eventually CCP will need to come up with some stuff that people actually want to spend money on. |

Have you played ME3 or been in the forums for that game - you will be surprised what people will spend, just make it "exclusive" with slightly improved stats and they will sell IF this game attracts and keeps that type of gamer.
There was this one guy that dropped around $2000 to get all of the available stuff and Bioware continues to crank out free DLC even though the player base has supposedly shrunk because they have gamers willing to purchase..... and that is basically just a horde mode. |

No to both. Sounds like a bunch of bullshit. I don't want to play a game like that. CCP said that the AUR stuff would be about cosmetic business rather than gameplay affecting stuff. Making dropsuits whose only significant feature is that they undermine the merc aspect of the game and look fancy isn't what I was hoping for. |

But this is a free game and the model dictates using AUR to get those people willing to spend to make this game profitable and allow us all to enjoy the stuff CCP will give us.
I think the difference will be more than cosmetic for people to continue to spend but maybe making them BPO is going to far. Anyway, it is up to the developer to find the happy medium to please the majority of both camps.
The more money people spend, the better experience we all should have providing CCP keep delivering. |
