Honestly, I am surprised that more people havent thought of this. Replace our stamina with a capacitor. It makes sense from an EVE standpoint and it would add another layer of depth to an already deep game. These dropsuits are power suits right. Not just body armor. So it would make sense that running would use up capacitor. I think that the way it should work is that active modules have to be activated using capacitor. Not sure which buttons. Put them on the left side of the weapon wheel? Armor reppers, cloaking, and sprinting would use it up. Also shields should only recharge when there is capacitor left. They got to get energy from somewhere. It just makes sense to me. Makes sure that people are careful with what they activate. Now im not saying that someone should be able to repair damage as quick as they recieve but it may save your life in those brief breaks in a gunfight. Armor plating and extendors and dampeners wouldnt use anything because they are modifications to the suit itself. Obviously the capacitor would need to be increased so it does not run out as quickly as stamina. I would think that the scout suits would hav more cap so they can run longer, and maybe heavies would have a lot just because it takes so much more power to run them.
In another post someone mentioned that the laser rifle should have infinite ammo keeping with the ammarian laser in EVE. Maybe they would take cap energy to fire or reload energy from the cap.
Any ideas on the subject. I think it would be cool. How should it work in youre opinion?
PS it would be awsome if CCP would reply or give thier opinion. Or if they don't think it's a good idea. Why? |

My opinion is that just because something exists in EVE, that doesn't mean it should also exist in Dust.
As for the armor being powered, that's the case, but that doesn't mean the armor is doing the running for the clones. There's writing about joint stabilization to absorb recoil of weaponry and such, but that's about the extent of it. |

I think in addition to stamina would be better. That way heavies could have more capacitor for active tanks and weapons then scout, but scout could run farther.
EvE lore refers to some infantry lasers having limited ammo, and others with back pack fusion reactors to recharge them. So, maybe have both types, infinite ammo have higher fitting needs and use a lot of capacitor.
The devs mentioned using cap neutralizers in a fanfest video, so it seems cap will be added at some point. |

It's more likely capacitors would be added for vehicles, if only because it is currently bullshit that you can just sit in a vehicle and spam shots indefinitely. Adding a capacitor that depletes with firing/etc would be a decent way to go about handling that issue.
If they ever for some reason feel compelled to add infinite-ammo infantry weapons, they already have a mechanism for restricting firing: Heat. HMGs, lasers, whatever, capacitor isn't really necessary. If they really wanted to make heavies have "more capacitor", they could simply make heavy suits have a bonus to heat dissipation.
Either way I don't like the idea of making things more complicated for the sake of being more like EVE. |

I think Cap for the heavy vehicles would be a great addition, but definitely for Mechs if they are added later.
Rigging up a Mech with different offensive and defensive gear that has to share energy from a central power core seems very much in line to me with fitting a ship in eve.
EDIT: the weapons that Dust players personally carry, seem to all be self powered [from the ammo clip etc.] so there really isn't a reason for adding cap to suits. Likewise the weapons on the LAV are probably self powered. But the big heavy turret on a HAV is probably running off a main power for the vehicle so things start to be different form there on up IMO.
. . . and btw outfitting large vehicles to stabilize cap, or run hot and get the job done before running out of power is a big part of the FUN in eve from my experience, so it isn't just to make things complicated. |

Capacitor seems a better way to limit speed modules and shield boosters/armour repairers then the current cool down, it gives more flexibility in fits. It also puts a trade off between bigger weapons and tank.
I agree most weapons seem self powered on dropsuits and sprint should stay stamina based. Capacitor would be useful for unlimited ammo energy weapons, cloak activation, active tanks, ewar modules, and maybe a close combat speed module( electro-actuated leg speed augmentation or other fancy sounding techo gibberish) If infantry active tanks and unlimited ammo variants are not both added there is little need for cap. Since weapons could use over heat and tank could use vehicle system if there was no trade off of one for other to make. |

The weapon a part was just something that I had heard being talked about. I was just thinking more along the line of modules |

Everything has it's own capacitors, but I could see a slot for a dropsuit capacitor that would use a shield buff module or armor rep like the vehicles - I I could link it to my repair gun or energy weapon for a boost I would like that as well. |

i like the idea but I'm nervous how this would be implemented and how it would effect scouts
i think that this would be terrible for scout users who already have the lowest pg/cpu/defense, add having to trade running for modules/equip/regen and the scout is truly dead. the scouts only defense is running if seen, it would severely reduce the role of the scout to snipping or to non combative roles
It would make a shotgun scouts obsolete to say the least |
