My response to the OP's list:
1. If your ally in the back of your truck doesn't know how to aim the rocket launcher when going full speed, pull over somewhere until he leaves in frustration. He probably isn't a good gunner anyway. 1A. If you leap into someone's truck uninvited, know how to shoot. 1B. If you do get into the gunner's seat, pay attention to what the driver is doing and not just on the pretty red chevrons. If he starts running for no reason when you're shooting mans, it's either because someone's launching Swarms and he doesn't want you to die, or there's another vehicle and he wants you to kill it.
2. Walking in the middle of the trail is asking to get run over. Moving along the edge of the trail, where you can dip into cover, is fine. 2A. Purposefully going up slopes is wasteful, as it cuts into your speed tremendously. Don't climb the mountain because it's there, but because it gives you some tactical advantage.
3. If there is a control point in the center of the map, either get it first with a vehicle or get to within sniping range and cover it. 3A. If the center point is in the middle of a city section or super-block, don't bother trying to snipe it.
4. If you're a sniper, never, ever go to the top of the biggest hill. This is where noob snipers go, by definition, and are easily spotted as they contrast with the horizon. That's where counter-snipers and non-noob-snipers will get you.
5. As it is impossible to actually 'stealthily hack' anything, crouch down while hacking and try to do it from an angle that the enemy can't snipe you from. This makes you a smaller target versus snipers, vehicles, and the like. 5A. If an enemy starts attacking you on foot and dealing damage, throw a grenade immediately. He will either run up and die with you, kill you and avoid it, or you will kill yourself and deny him the extra points. 5B. If the enemy is attempting to hack your Supply Depot and you have grenades, throw them at him while charging at him. He will either die or run away, but at that point, you will have new grenades. Shoot or 'Nade Spam as necessary.
6. Hit the reload key whenever you're not actively running, shooting, or sniping. Unless you are an excellent sniper, get in the habit of reloading when you have 1 bullet left unless you can actively see some guy at half armor running around in the open. 6A. Charge Sniper Rifles have been nerfed. Until you get damage mods, don't bother. Once you do have skills and damage mods, get ready to headshot some Heavies.
7. If you're in an LAV, don't get within AV grenade range. Even the best drivers tend to be reminded of this at least once per match. The more skilled ones can actually survive. 7B. If you're going to hop in an LAV that costs you more than 10,000K isk (IE: Not a freebie with an upgraded launcher), don't hop in one that can die to 2 AV grenades.
8. If you squad up, your odds of survival improve, unless your squad is ******** or the enemy team is also squadding properly. 8A. If you join a player Corp, your odds of Squading and winning also vastly improve.
9. If you're not a Scout specced for running, ALWAYS start the match by calling in a free vehicle. You will get to the capture points much faster than running at them like a fool.
10. Some guns (AR's) have more advantages than others (Subbies). Also, not every gun is useful for everything. If your gun isn't made to kill vehicles, don't waste your time. |
