I don't know why it has taken this long to occur to me, but CCP doesn't do sh*t based on the requests put into the forums. Oh, you say, what about all those people crying that CCP nerfed their favorite gank technique because people reported it in the forums? That's just about my point. I never see a change made from these forums unless someone is whining and crying that it messed up their KD/R and they want it nerfed. People that say nice and respectfully in coherent fashion that the reviving system has bugs, and you can walk around bodies for hours straight repeatedly pressing the revive button to no avail are promptly ignored over people that put in all caps: T4NK5 4R3 S0 0V3RP0W3RED.
People have said since as long as I've been a part of these forums that the respawn system is completely incompetent, constantly respawning you ten feet from enemies, but I've seen absolutely zero evidence that this has been attempted to be fixed. As mentioned above, the reviving system has major bugs, and I often dance around bodies for what seems for an eternity while the person who I attempt to revive no doubt looks at me as if I'm a complete idiot. This too, has been mentioned repeatedly since the start of Precusor. I constantly hear people say that grenades and practically all explosive projectiles only explode 1/2 times, but I've seen no improvement in this aspect. Infinite loading screens still plague me Snipers can still hide in the hills inside of the red zone People with ARs still dominate the battlefield by a massive margin Hundreds of good ideas that I've read in the forums are still ignored
This biggest insult is that the devs and GMs do nothing. People make threads asking the devs/GMs a simple question about hard freezes and what-not, but the only time I see responses made by devs and GMs is when someone makes a flaming or raging thread, and need to be reminded of the forum rules. Sure, occasionally I see GM Unicorn make some comment in the "classic threads" that is somewhat funny, but that is even more insulting considering they are blatantly acknowledging that they read the forums, but just don't want to respond to your technical difficulty questions. If I am right, and CCP only fixes things when a raging post is made about it, consider this one massive all-caps screaming post, and fix the damn things I mentioned.
TL;DR- Read the damn post, it won't hurt you. |

Software development models are put together long before a single line of code is written, and followed until the software is released. Possibly after. Breaking from the these models and doing ad hoc development leads to far more problems than it could ever fix. What may seem like a trivial thing like how spawning works on ambush maps can have far reaching impact on the game.
That's why they were able to rebalance HAVs (stats on gear are just xml documents, after all), but haven't gotten to significantly altering spawn mechanics.
If you don't understand the process, don't pretend you have a better alternative. |

As a revive system note, just to underscore the problem mentioned above (this gets into the spawn too a bit but whatever ).
Tonight while in match I was trying to revive a fallen squad mate in a "secured" area (in quotes because while we had the area it was near another spawn point for the enemy). Another member of my squad was also trying to revive our fallen comrade while ~3 other teammates applied pressure to the enemy front. The revive targeting is so bad that both I and my squad mate ran in circles flailing about with our Nano Injectors for so long that enemy forces were able to respawn and blitz our position killing us both despite the covering fire of our teammates.
Now, to the general topic of the OP.
CCP, I know not all suggestions are feasible for various reasons even if you agree it' would be ideal if things could work as suggested. I know you're busy working on the game and have lives outside of work and I know that some possibilities are interesting but you can't confirm that they'll make it into the next build even if they might work within Dust generally. Beyond that there are of course ideas that sound great to beta testers which won't actually work for one reason or another. Even with all of the above accounted for I have a request. Please, please, respond to more of the suggestion threads! Even "well look into it, no promises", or "SOON(tm)" would be greatly welcomed (and for my part "that's not logistically feasible would also be great so I could focus my testing and feedback somewhere else rather than wondering of the thread had just gotten buried unseen). I'd be thrilled with "it's on the agenda, no ETA as yet", but in the end just something to let testers know that the root problem is on your radar (even if it's not seen as a problem).
TL;DR As Logi Bro says above And remember community interaction is an important part of running a successful game (especially an online game much less an MMO) might as well get in the habit now

I totally understand your point. When I'm on duty I read the forums, moderate when needed, interact with you guys but I also note down the main concerns and/or suggestions. I see technical threads every day but what I can do is posting if I'm 100% sure about the answer because the last thing that I want to do is misleading. For example, I saw a lot of threads about WP needed for an air strike but I cannot disclosure that number so if I post "you need 500WP" and that is not true, I'll generate N thread about this false information and that is not the goal that I'm trying to achieve. I'm trying to absorb what the community wants and convey that to whom it may concern. We are constantly developing and testing even if it's not that evident, and email and messages are going back and forth every hour talking about problems, ideas and such. You don't need to write in all caps, have 50 likes or 90 pages on your thread. Even small thread with a couple of posts are considered, if they make sense. "I want a 50$ coupon every time I'm on killing spree" is ignored, while something like "The Logi dropsuit should have more utility slots and less hi slots" is considered and discussed*
I'm (we are) trying to be as near as you as possible, but so much stuff is happening GÇ£behind the scenesGÇ¥ that an answer can be delayed a lot sometimes. That doesn't mean the we don't care. Please feel free to ask if something it's not clear in what I wrote.

Just a quick update to keep you all posted. We have gathered a lot of good feedback on issues in Codex and will be implementing hotfixes in the very near future to address the most vexing issues first. Chief among them is the WP farming issues and orbital strike spamming, so expect a hotfix on that soon.
We are working our way down a laundry list of bugs and issues so please bear with us as we work towards addessing these issues in the coming week.
We want to thank all of those who have been reporting issues on Codex constructively thus far. As always, your comments have been invaluable. Thank you and keep up the good work. |

TL;DR- Read the damn post, it won't hurt you. One thing is certain. Fixing bugs is a lot faster than complaining about them in the forums. I don't know what you expect, but the game we are currently playing is not supposed to be perfect right now. We are testing and give CCP feedback. When we think that something is imbalanced or report a bug, they will first have to find out what is causing this, then think about how to fix this and finally implement the fix. All of these take time.
Also, they CANNOT fix all bugs of the old build before bringing the new one. The old build has been tested enough, bugs have been reported and are being worked on. If we continued to play the old build, until all these bugs are fixed, we'd waste time. Ours and CCP's. New features will always bring new problems, and these have to be found, as well. So we now play a new build with some of the problems of the old build still there, because there is absolutely no other way to do it.
One more thing: CCP is not accountable to us. They don't have to implement any of the changes we 'demand'. They are making the game they want to make. They might consider our wishes, but if they don't fit with their concept of the game, they are not obliged to satisfy them. |

It's a bit like George Lucas saying something like:"When I look at the movies from todays poitn of view I wonder if Luke was gay in the end." in an interview with the Feeble Potters Weekly of Plumcestershire and two hours later his house being burned down by angry star wars fanboys. I'm sure every single word of blue or red guys is almost sacred text to people in the forum and that's why I absolutely agree that some reluctance in posting stuff in the forums is a wise choice. |

Thank you for both the response and update. As always communication is appreciated. And while I am always looking for more information (and thus sometimes forget to touch on this part) it's also appreciated that the effort is being made to avoid giving out any misinformation (as per your "you need 500WP" example above). In a limited information fast cycle environment it's good to know the information that is being presented is being given a once over for solidity.

Though I can fully appreciate the busy nature of devs and GM's, I still believe that something a little more than the occasional dev posts would help alleviate some of the frustration that people feel when they don't think they are being heard.
I love that "fresh from the oven" line. Perhaps you could add a "fresh from the oven" section to the forum where every day or every other day a dev or GM could drop in and start a thread with some short small details on what is currently cooking in the oven (I love baking analogies ) and get some feedback from us on what we think. That would give us a heads up that some of us are being listened to, and make us feel like we are actually making a difference. It would also probably give birth to new ideas while we chat about the upcoming fixes and changes.
Also, if you would GM Unicorn, please send my thanks to GM Rhino, GM Kitten, and GM Vegas for all of their support helping me while I was unable to access the forums. I would have submitted a report survey like the email asked me, but my Dust login info wouldn't let me log in to submit a report on the EVE page... =P |

CCP Unicorn, PLEASE tell us that farmers are not going to be allowed to keep their illicit gains, as if they are forced out into the field with what they have now, they'll be so far ahead of everybody else ISK and perhaps SP wise that they will be insufferable, as the fools they are, because they can now access and afford gear the rest of us can not, due to their cheating. |
