If you can only earn say 1000 WP per game for repairing vehicles, but still let you repair, this will stop the farmers but allow legitimate use of the repair tool.
The argument some people are using of not getting WP for repairing in the red zone might be flawed, as you need to get to safety in your expensive tank and the red zone is a safe haven, but maxing out repair WP fairly easily will stop abuse |

This is equally flawed. No matter what you limit, there will always be situation were legitimate play is being punished by the limit.
The real solution is to reduce the SP gain from all individual actions (kills, assists, hacks, repair, etc) and hand out a big SP bonus for winning the match. If you want to maximize your SP gain (the farmers goal...the others aren't farmers, but griefers), you play for the team. |

Perhaps my suggested limit is too low, maybe 2000 would be more appropriate. I was after a limit which would only typically be surpassed by basically cheating by farming using the repair tool. I play Logi so would not want to be penalised for repairing team members and equipment either |

No, these are both still flawed. Farming needs to be squashed on an individual basis based on the method. Repair farming seems to be the biggest one, so I'll use it as an example.
Step 1: Set up an algorithm that searches out people who don't move around the map a lot or are away from enemies for a set period of time.
Step 2: Among these set an algorithm that searches out the ones repairing damage not dealt by enemys.
Step 3: Those players who are repairing damage in this way are immediately capped where they are on how much WP they can earn from repairing in that match and given a 200 WP penalty.
This will discourage people from attempting it because they will loose most if not all the WP they earned while the algorithm is searching them out plus prevent them from earning any more through the same method in the same match. |

In EVE there isn't this kind of problem since all SP is gained through passively.
edit: One case in EVE close enough for this is FW's LP(Loyalty point) farming. But I'm not familiar with that topic to discuss in any detail about it. |
