IMHO DUST will fail because the dev team is greedy. They are selling virtual stuff which has no real cost to make and absolutely NO value so why would they say a dropsuit has a value of $50 and tjen try to sell it for $15 when you can buy a whole new game for $59? Everything time you turn around they want more money for nothing. If they were smart they would charge $1 for everything then maybe people wouldn't stop playing the game; not that it's a great game and people wouldn't quit anyway.
As soon as I saw how many items were charging the outrageous prices I uninstalled; See YA, Good luck suckers! |

... Okay? I'm confussed about a lot of what you said other then you are saying they are charging too much for AUR based items? Which they actually are not, and have been giving away the Mercenary bundle essentially -- PlayStation Plus had it for ten dollars (USD) which is an amazing deal. I honestly do not see why you are complaining though. The prices thus far have been ultimately fair, and the (AUR) items themselves have been nicely balanced so as to not cross that "Pay-to-win" line in which would ruin the game. When the player trade market opens finally though players will be able give away, trade, and sell AUR based items for ISK or other items AUR or ISK based. So really why you are complaining is beyond me. |

I guess that means you are already sucked into the idea of AUR so have fun with that. I'll play a game that charges $59 for the whole game and maybe 3 months later buy a map/weapon pack for another $15 but there is no way this game is worth everything they are asking for. I challange anyone to add up the total if you were to purchase ALL AUR items and post the cost for this game. CYA |

You fail hard. You can buy stuff for up to a month with 40 000 AUR, which is pretty cheap. Along with the fact that people are willing to pay $60+50 for addons on **** games, it's pretty cheap. |

Mmkay?.. This is not Call of Duty. CCP has already said that all updates, and expansions will be free to Dust514. So I find this to be a moot argument. Especially given that this game will be tied directly to EVE and the New Eden universe. I was not sucked into anything though. I know what a good deal when I see one, and considering this game is free-to-play, the expansions and updates are and will be free and you essentially honestly do not have to spend a dime if you so choose to do so to play this game is awsome. I chose to buy an awsome deal though. Plenty of AUR to start with and purchase whatever I need. I collect specialty items and it suits me fine. I mean if they [CCP] were Capcom then I'd agree. If they were almost anyone I'd agree, but they are not, and they do not seem to be trying to scam us. Capcom is the lord of scaming. I think you are just confussed about what is going on.
I think you should be over at the Capcom forums ranting about how they are planning timed Microsoft Xbox360 DLC deals for Biohazard6 and how they butchered the online portions just to resell them in micro purchases from game modes to maps, and chracters. I mean look at what they did to Biohazard: Operation Raccoon City; they took a complete game, tore it into two and resold you the other half of the campaign for essnetially twenty plus dollars. C'mon now.. So I think you can calm down. |

Another problem with only using ISK is that it takes forever to earn enough to compete with someone who could "rank up" instantly with cash; it's kind of a corrupt system; like American politics... lol no wonder most of you love this ****. |

Well, think of it like this bro........ The merc pack cost 19.99, along with that you got 40,000 aurum, dragonfly suit, toxin smg, 30 day booster (7 day boosters are 7,000 aurum), various consumables.......on top of the merc pack/aurum purchase you possibly had before you purchased the new merc pack.....of which also changed to 40,000......so that's over 80,000 aurum right? Ok......now ALL of that will be replenished for a final time on full release on top of any future builds leading up to full release, now considering ccp NEVER charge for their expansions.....you're also saving money right there. There are no aurum weapons/equipment/modules that have an advantage over isk variants, take a look at the stats, and if there is a difference it is very minor. Also, you're saving isk/aurum by having the mag suit bpo's. I've looked at the stats, I've compared, I've researched, and at the very leaste there is only the difference of a few slots....which in the long run make no difference at all (almost the same PG/CPU, same shield and armor) its the modules that make the difference (but also again no difference between aurum and isk modules) I really don't see the problem here. But either way, have fun with other fps titles where you get charged $15 for four measly maps (bf3, cod etc).......bf3......how much did that cost in total? $60 for the game + $50 for premium = 110 for a game that turned out to be garbage. |

Whoa, whoa, whoa.. You made this thread without even playing this game? Are you serious?! What a crock of sh!+. Seriously.
Are AUR based items superior over ISK items? Essentially no, but some AUR based items at the moment this build are BPO (Blueprint Originals) which means that they are non depletable assets. Which comes in handy for thos whom enjoy saving ISK where they can, or for those whom die frequently. The only other advantage is that some AUR based equipment will allow for slightly quicker (usually a level) access to certain items while you are training up that specific skill. However! In the end you are paying for those items with real government sanctioned and back currency. If you choose to be unable to wait and want access to the same thing a level early then you can spend AUR which cost real life currency. Not really an advantage though, and those items are non BPO and are depletable. So they are not "pay-to-win".
Edit:
What you have to remember though is that at the moment we do not have access to the player market. Which will allow us (again) to give away, trade, or sell items AUR or ISK based alike. Meaning even if you do not spend actual currency on this game and you want a specific AUR based item you can trade or buy it from another player for ISK.
Simply put -- [ISK > AUR] and ISK will always be more valuable then AUR. Mmhhmm. Coveted and the essnetial item we (Dusters) all want lining our greedy mercenary pockets. |

DUST style: Release game for free with free servers, provide regular free updates, and charge for some optional items to provide some revenue, all totaling out to be pretty cheap ($20 of AUR can last you a long time)
MW style: Release a new (nearly identical) game every 2 years (or sooner) for $60 and charge $15 for new maps every few months (this also applies to BF to an extent)

... Activision does not run servers for any console based Call of Duty title though. PC is the only port to actually support real servers. The only servers you must be thinking of are the initial matchmaking servers where it links the players together. That is all they do though; after which it is a peer-to-peer based connection and an individual console is named host. |

I did play the game but was turned off by the mic not working so didn't get that deep into it; does it take AUR to activiate the mic? So you did point out some real advantages of AUR items but you said there is "essentially" no advantage... are you a politician? lol Anyway Thanks for the input y'all; maybe I'll have a closer look at it and give it another chance. You...You...You just obviously don't know how the game works here...I mean...Really tho? Have you tried to play the game? It doesn't take forever to earn enough to compete...people have been sticking to the starter ARs on the battlefield and have been dominating...and in fact you just mostly need to work on your SP and the ISK should pour in if you play smart.
And wtf is this with American Politics? You feel some type of way bro? Corruption is everywhere no matter where you live as long as people can have authority over you. >_> Learn to play before you open your mouth about how bad the game is. |
