It does damage from distances? I been wanting to try to use it on a tank or vehicle, but NO ONE spawns tanks anymore...

It is very crap weapon against infantry. I've killed one person with it, I don't know why it does, near no damage. I mean its a laser it would slice some people up... Not in Dust514 though. Blasting someone through the head is just useless. From point blank range. Lasers are close quarter weapons. I would have imagined but they do no damage!

Maybe its a anti-vehicle gun? Was my only conclusion, but that still doesn't make sense. Why would infantry armor be more stronger than Tanks??

Medium range is close quarters... I've shot someone in the head from point blank... I've also zapped someone in a medium range... It just doesn't do anything, any how.

The only long range weapons are Missle launcher, Mass driver, sniper rifle.

Close quarters... Is from point-blank to medium range.

You can't shoot a assault rifle in long range, you only use it in close quarters.
You can evenly use a pistol in close quarters... The pistol goes from POINT BLANK - to medium RANGE.

Without Light weapon sharp shooter trained the laser rifle starts to loose effectiveness at 60m as the target gets below this range the amount of dmg you do will drop, at about 30m can't say exactly but i believe the effectiveness of the rifle is about 30% or less. I haven't tested the max range on the LR but i think its about 80-90m a little less then ARs or exactly the same, the AR looses a lot of its effectiveness at long range while the LR gets a bit of a bonus, plus the longer the beam is going the more dmg it does.

I'm a good shot with both weapons and while all round the AR is the better weapon, at long range if you've got a steady aim the laser really shines, its a good idea to keep your SMG handy because at the range the laser becomes useless the SMG starts to become useful, give or take 10m.

Guys, your wrong, lasers don't do less damage at closer range, you are literally just wrong. It does more damage the LONGER YOU ARE FIRING.

This is why the advanced and prototype lasers don't do anymore damage, they only have less heat build up. Because that means more damage. You are doing nutty math. The LR does 15 damage per ammo, then 16 and so on. The 50th bullet does like 56 damage. And ammo runs out fast. By the end of the cycle you can kill people within 10m by just turning the laser through them as they burn a horrible death with no more effort than to get him it it's sights for 4 pluses.
